Bollywood and its experimental nature has resulted in some great work out there. However, there’s one theme that no one has dabbled with, something filmmakers are wary of doing and even the society sweeps it away under the carpet. It’s the whole issue of dealing with incest. Just because a major part of our upbringing has been about not addressing it, doesn’t mean that the elephant is not in the room. However, that is going to change now with a new movie called ‘I Am Roshni’.

The movie is India’s first major attempt at dealing with incest and before you jump on the car that leads your brain to some kind of judgement, calm down. The trailer gives us a peek of what the makers have tried to do. A perverted uncle, an insensitive mother, a weird boyfriend and a violent father are some of the characters which are actually a reflection of the people around us. How they and a bounded life pushes Roshni (the lead) to get intimate with her brother is what the story is all about.

The movie has a strong social message that urges families to identify all kinds of abuses and have an open relationship with their kids. The movie stars two newcomers in the lead.
