Paris Hilton was one of the biggest pop culture icons of the ’00s, but the girl who invented getting paid to party has made sure to stay relevant till now as well.

She is a socialite, media personality and DJ, but believe it or not, her biggest following now comes from Twitter and she is absolutely hilarious on the social media site.

She likes to show off as well.

Hey friends, I lost my blackberry. 😢 So if your trying to reach me, then text me on one of my three iPhones. 💋

Look at her giving some #FoodHacks.

She has even made a meme out of herself.

Them: “You can’t just erase people from your life”

Actually she really, really enjoys making memes of herself.

“Where do you see yourself in 10 years?”

But, one of her recent tweets completely missed the mark. She posted a couple of throwback pictures of herself with Britney Spears, and everything was well and good till then, but her caption caused a lot of uproar.

She said, “11 years ago today, Me & Britney invented the selfie!” and her claims did not go down well with everyone on Twitter.

People came out with receipts and completely debunked her wild claims. Everyone started replying with examples of ‘selfies’ from before she was even born, and let’s just say all her followers were just in the mood to troll her a lot.

According to BBC, both Paris and Britney are about 167 years too late to make that claim.

Paris Hilton Claimed She Invented Selfies, Twitter Proved Her Wrong© Robert Cornelius

Apparently, the oldest existing selfie is thought to be by 30-year-old Robert Cornelius, who took it outside his lamp shop in Philadelphia. “He looks unsure whether the photo will work or not – unsurprising, as technology then meant that he would have had to have stood still for up to 15 minutes in order to get the shot.”

After this whole ordeal, Paris probably said just one thing – That’s hot – because:

if you don’t know what to say, just be like “that’s hot.”
