Allegations of sexual harassment against Kevin Spacey was a major blow both for the Hollywood fraternity and the rest of the world. And while everyone was busy criticizing and condemning Spacey, it was his popular show ‘House of Cards’ that bore the brunt and got axed in the process.
Until last year, we all were under the impression that Netflix has completely scrapped the show and its final season. But then, we also came across certain rumors stating that the final season will happen, sans Kevin Spacey.
Fast forward to the present time and amidst all the rumors of the show coming to an end, we now have the first teaser trailer of the much-awaited season 6 with Claire Underwood as the new chief, shining bright in all her glory and badassery.
Season 5 ended with Frank Underwood’s resignation, clearing Claire’s path towards becoming the president. In fact, in the last scene, she even breaks the fourth wall saying, “My turn” and the new teaser picks up from that point, only to show how powerful Claire is going to be.
This 45-second teaser trailer starts with Robin Wright sitting behind the coveted desk in the Oval Office, a seat that was once occupied by her husband Frank Underwood. “We’re just getting started,” the moment Robin Wright says this; we know that we are in for something fantastic.
However, only time will tell how well this transition in power, not just on-screen but among the leads as well, will sink in with the avid fans of the show.
The teaser trailer was first by Netflix during the Academy Awards. After a hiatus of a few months, the show finally resumed production in January and while the release date has not been announced, it is expected to release on Netflix in 2018 itself.
