Remember the song ‘Fix You’ by Coldplay? It’s such an emotional song, yet so relatable. While the whole song is good, let’s focus on the first line for now – ‘When you try your best but you don’t succeed’.
This can be applied to many things but I have never seen a better representation of it than the video of a topless Kate Upton being swept off a rock by a huge wave during a photoshoot.
Whoops! Things got a little rocky on @kateupton’s #SISwim 2018 shoot in Aruba! 👀 | @arubatourism @hiltonaruba #OneHappyIsland
Is it bad that I’m laughing at the video so much? It’s just so hilarious.
While modelling looks like one of the most glamourous jobs in the world, this is a perfect reminder that things can easily take a bad turn. Poor Kate was just doing her job and posing almost completely naked on top of a rock, but the ocean decided to take some kind of revenge on her. What did Kate do to anger the ocean that she was swept off with a big wave like that?
The model was taking part in a topless photoshoot in Aruba for 2018’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition when the unfortunate yet hilarious incident occurred and things got a little rocky, pun intended. Wearing nothing but a long skirt, Kate could be seen scrambling to safety. Luckily, it looked look like she did not land on the rock too heavily, and moreover, was also helped up by a guy on set, who almost ended up being dragged off by the waves.
In the video, which was shared on the official account of ‘Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’, Kate can be heard saying, “It didn’t look that large from my point of view, but it must have hit the rock just right. The skirt with all tulle, whenever it’s wet is very heavy and dragged me down. Everybody was very scared,” in a voiceover.
“I really saw the vision for the photo, but as I climbed on the rock, I did look down and was like, ‘this is going to end badly,’” she told Sports Illustrated. She added, “I felt like I was laughing in the face of death.”
Well, we’re glad she’s okay! So basically, it’s all well if it ends well.
