By now we know that Akshay Kumar does not only have a good comic timing but can also play diverse roles. Roles that other actors probably could not even think of playing. And this year gave us the required proof.
The fact that movies like ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Jolly LLB 2’ were box office hits this year goes on to prove that the mindset of the audience is evolving and no more do we expect the lead actors of a movie to go and dance around a tree. In fact, we don’t even want it as long as we have stars like Akshay doing films with some fantastic storylines which do a great job of entertaining and informing.
And another movie with the same aim is almost here. ‘PadMan’ has been making it to the headlines for all the right reasons.
The actor has been making sure that he teases the hell out of us by posting snippets and posters of the movie, since the last few weeks now.

And much to our delight, the trailer is now here. FINALLY here and it has definitely exceeded our expectations.
First things first, ‘PadMan’ is the world’s first feature film that focuses on menstrual hygiene. The movie’s storyline is based on Arunachalam Muruganantham, a rural welder from India who made consistent efforts to provide the women in his village including his wife, the access to high-quality yet affordable sanitary pads 20 years ago.
The trailer takes on this rather serious issue in the most fun way possible.
Akshay Kumar is at his goofy best and we have to say, the man has mastered the art of it.

His character only has one aim- to solve the stigma around menstruation and if that involves him giving sanitary napkins to his sister, then be it. With his character trying to speak in front of huge crowds in broken English, you can’t help but love him even more. While we see more of him than the ladies, i.e. Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor, they do play very important roles in the movie.

Radhika plays the role of Akshay’s character’s wife who doesn’t really understand her husband’s ways of getting rid of the taboo that revolves the issue of menstrual hygiene. And Sonam on the other hand steps in when Akshay’s character almost gives up and helps him improve his efforts and reach out to women.
