With a career spanning almost three decades, Vin Diesel has starred in quite a lot of movies. Even though we can’t think of ‘The Fast and Furious’ series without thinking of Vin Diesel as well, but there are so many other movies where he completely proves his acting skills. These are some movies that you should definitely check out if you haven’t already.

1. The Iron Giant (1999)

An animated movie set during the Cold War in 1957, ‘The Iron Giant’ follows a young boy named Hogarth Hughes, voiced by Eli Marienthal, who discovers a giant metallic robot that fell from space, with Vin Diesel playing the titular role of this giant robot. The movie revolves around both them, along with beatnik artist Dean McCoppin, trying to prevent the U.S. military and a paranoid federal agent from finding and destroying the Giant. Even though the movie received widespread critical acclaim from critics, it didn’t do that well at the box-office but, over the years, it has gathered a cult following, being hailed as a modern animated classic.

2. Boiler Room (2000)

This crime-drama movie follows Seth Davis, played by Giovanni Ribisi, a college dropout, attempting to win his father’s approval. He gets a job as a stock broker and finds success easily, but he soon realizes that the might not as legitimate as he thought. Diesel plays against his type and stars as a stock broker, giving us another look at his acting range.

3. Knockaround Guys (2001)

The movie follows the four sons of a mob boss as they team up to retrieve a bag of cash from a town in Montana which is ruled by a corrupt sheriff. Diesel is at his best in this film as he kicks some serious ass in one standout scene set in a bar. Just remember the number …500.

4. A Man Apart (2003)

‘A Man Apart’ is about an undercover DEA agent Sean Vetter, played by Vin Diesel, who is out to avenge the death of his wife, who was killed by a mysterious drug lord named Diablo. The story is thrilling and the action sequences are badass as well.

5. Strays (1997)

Last but not the least, ‘Strays’, which was Diesel’s feature length debut, followed Rick, a drug dealer and hustler, completely fed up his life and looking for a change, trying to find meaning in his existence. The movie not only stars Diesel in the main role, it is also produced and directed by him as well.

The ‘Fast And Furious’ series has been going through a stellar run ever since it was conceived. One of the prime attractions of the series was the bromance between Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. The powerful duo not only made a great team on the big screen, they were also known to be the best of friends in real life.

The sad demise of Paul Walker shocked everyone and, of course, eventually led to the seventh instalment ending on a different note than it was originally planned. Our hearts broke when we saw the two friends bid goodbye in the closing scene of the movie.

Have you ever wondered about the fate about the series and, particularly, this movie, if Paul was still alive? According to Chris Morgan, the writer of the movie, the ending was supposed to be very different. “Well, the original ending, if I remember correctly, was our guys end up solving the problem and then kind of becoming—again, going more outlaw, it was sort of a happier ending that kind of ends with the insinuation that they were gonna go off onto this heist or this job.

In regards to the story, it kind of was the same. The only difference is that we let Brian and Mia and their family go off to just be a family and drop the action-y elements of their lives and stop risking everything when the family is so important to them. Otherwise we would’ve just kind of continued with Brian learning and adjusting his character a little bit.”  Life always has a different plan and sadly, we don’t get to script it.
