“As Padmavati becomes a burning controversy, people are asking why the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, most versatile Aamir Khan and most popular Shah Rukh Khan have no comments. And how come our I&B Minister or our most popular Honourable PM (according to Pew – American think tank Pew poll) are maintaining stoic silence. High time! (Sic),” Sinha tweeted yesterday. He defended his decision behind staying silent until now, stating that he “should” express his opinion only after Bhansali speaks.

Away from the flashbulbs and legion of die-hard fans, the megastar celebrated his 75th birthday at the beach destination. The Bachchan clan left for Maldives on Tuesday morning. The celebratory mood had set in right at the airport, as Bachchan was spotted joking away with daughter Shweta, and Navya.

Aishwarya, Aaradhya and the superstar were seen onboard a passenger bus at the Male International Airport in Maldives, along with Jaya and Abhishek. However, Bachchan’s 16-year-old grandson Agastya was missing in action. The teenager, who is studying at Sevenoaks School in London, had to give the family holiday a miss due to his ongoing semester.

They are staying at the luxury resort, One & Only Reethi Rah in Kaafu Atoll, a family favourite — they had stayed at the same address during Abhishek’s birthday last year as well. The resort boasts of 12 beaches and each island houses one villa, offering complete privacy to its visitors.

mid-day learnt that Abhishek, Aishwarya and Shweta arranged a special midnight bash to bring in the patriarch’s birthday.

Mumbai: Sonakshi Sinha, who has earned rave reviews for her performance in her films, says mother Poonam Sinha is her biggest critic.

“My mum is my biggest critic and I take her opinion very seriously because I know that is one person, who is saying it only for my good and nobody else,” Sonakshi told reporters in a group interview.

“If I could have done it much better or if the outfit is not looking good, she will tell me then and there itself. The best part is she is so honest about it. My father thinks everything I do is good only,” she added.

Asked if she takes her family opinion before signing any film, Sonakshi said: “I consult my whole family before signing a film because they have been in the industry for long, so it’s the logical thing to do.”

“My mum sometimes sits with me also for the narration, my dad (Shatrughan Sinha) is not always there so I give him a gist of the narration. Till now, my brothers (Luv and Kush) have not criticised me and are very proud,” said the 25-year-old.

Sonakshi is currently busy promoting her forthcoming film ‘Dabangg 2’ with Salman Khan, and is directed by Arbaaz Khan. It will release on Friday.
