Ankita Lokhande to star in Sanjay Dutt's 'Torbaaz'? Director clarifies

Actor Sanjay Dutt-starrer ‘Torbaaz’ is in pre-production and rest of the cast is yet to finalised, says its director Girish Malik.

According to reports, TV actress Ankita Lokhande has been signed for the film.

Asked about it, Malik told IANS, “We are currently doing our pre-production. I don’t know Ankita, and apart from Sanjay Dutt, no one else has been signed or even approached.”

“Torbaaz”, set in Afghanistan, is a story about child suicide bombers who have been trained to believe that killing is a virtue and glory is in the afterlife.

The film is to go on floors in December.

Malik is known for making the 2013 film “Jal”, which won the National Award for best special effects.

Production has begun on Priyanka Chopra’s next Hollywood project after Baywatch and A Kid Like Jake, for which PeeCee is currently shooting in New York. The film titled, Isn’t It Romantic?, stars Rebel Wilson and Liam Hemsworth.

Yesterday, New Line Cinema announced the start of principal photography for the romantic comedy, being directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson.

Priyanka Chopra will be seen in the role of yoga ambassador while Wilson will play an architect from New York City, who works hard to get noticed at her job, but is more likely to be asked to deliver coffee and bagels than design skyscrapers. Hemsworth stars as a handsome client with Adam Devine as Wilson’s best friend.

Strauss-Schulson is directing the project from a screenplay by Erin Cardillo, Dana Fox, Katie Silberman, and Paula Pell. The film is set for a 2019 Valentine’s Day release.

Looks like there’s hope for Tigmanshu Dhulia’s earlier outing, the Vidyut Jammwal and Shruti Haasan-starrer Yaara, which has been lying in the cans since 2014.

The film is a tale of friendship. Says Dhulia, “The producer (Sunil Khetarpal) has told me they are looking at a release in October. I have been busy with Raag Desh. After its release, I will get back to Yaara.”

A source says that Mira wants Misha’s first birthday (August 26) to be a grand affair. The makers of Peppa Pig, the British preschool animated TV series, have approached her for a theme party.

The makers of the British cartoon series, which started airing in India in November last year, want to create more buzz around the show.

A source tells mid-day, “Hosting a Peppa Pig-themed party for Shahid Kapoor’s daughter will help them gain more popularity in India.

When Kareena heard about it, she insisted on having the cartoon character and the same theme for Taimur’s birthday on December 20.

Kamal Haasan threatened for hosting ‘Bigg Boss’, fringe group demands actor’s arrest

The Hindu Makkal Katchi on Wednesday demanded ban on the Tamil version of reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ and wanted its host actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan to be arrested for tarnishing Tamil culture.

In its police complaint, the nationalist Hindu party demanded that the contestants of the show — such as Oviya, Namitha, Ganja Karuppu and Harathi among others — be arrested as well.

They claim the show is obscene.

“The participants are mouthing obscene statements and are acting 75 per cent nude. It is also derogative of Tamil culture and hurts the sentiments of seven crore Tamilians,” read the statement.

“They should be arrested under law because they are hurting Tamil culture and the programme should be banned,” the statement added.

The show, which went on air June 25 on Star Vijay, marks the television debut of Kamal Haasan.

While taking up the role of the show’s host, Kamal Haasan had earlier said in a statement, “When ‘Bigg Boss‘ approached me to play the host, I funnily quipped, who better than me, right? All my life, I have been under a constant watch and have been judged on whatever I have done, public or private.”

“But now, the roles are reversed, as I would stand with the audiences and watch these celebrities in the house survive this ordeal,” he had added.

Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff pays a perfect dance tribute to the legendary Michael Jackson in the new song titled ‘Beparwah’ from upcoming film ‘Munna Michael’ co-starring Nidhhi Agerwal.

Tiger Shroff says the song ‘Beparwah’ from his movie ‘Munna Michael’ was his most challenging.

The 27-year-old actor said, “This was very challenging for me. It’s my biggest song till date. After every shot and take, I felt like puking because I used to put so much of efforts in the shots. I couldn’t see anything in front of me… But I was just dancing like a mad man because of all the light.”

Tiger Shroff is hoping that the audience appreciates his hard work in the song.

“It was very challenging for me. So keeping that in mind, I am really hoping that people like and appreciate the hard work we have done,” he said.

‘Munna Michael‘, releasing on July 21, is directed by Sabbir Khan. The Eros International and Viki Rajani’s action-music entertainer also stars debutante Nidhhi Agerwaland Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

It is based on the story of Munna, a street boy from Teen Batti slum locality in Mumbai. He loves dancing and grows up idolising King of Pop Michael Jackson.

New song titled ‘Latth Maar’ from upcoming Bollywood film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar is out! The track, crooned by Sonu Nigam and Palak Muchhal, is shot amidst the backdrop of Holi and shows the couple going through a spat.

The song has been composed by Manas-Shikhar and penned by Garima Wahal and Siddharth Singh.

A love story with a satirical flavour, the movie is directed by Shree Narayan Singh, and produced by Aruna Bhatia, Plan C Studios and Abundantia, and presented by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and KriArj Entertainment.

It will be the first time that Akshay Kumarwill be featuring in a film with the ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ star Bhumi Pednekar. ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha‘ also marks Akshay and actor Anupam Kher’s 20th film together.

The film revolves around the need for toilets for sanitation in India and this message is conveyed through a love story in the film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’.

In the last few years, Akshay Kumar’s image has undergone a transformation from that of an action star to one who chooses films which are socially relevant and delivers a message. ‘Special 26’, ‘Airlift’, ‘Baby’ and the upcoming ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ are cases in point.

There’s also ‘Pad Man‘ that Akshay Kumar is doing. The film is a biopic on the man who introduced affordable sanitary napkins for the benefit of women.

‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ will release on August 11.

Imtiaz Ali’s next movie ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal‘ — starringShah Rukh Khanand Anushka Sharma — has now been set for release on August 4, thereby averting a box office clash with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’.
