Priyanka Chopra is often seen actively taking part in creating awareness. On one hand, there is no stopping her in making it big around the globe, on another hand, she is actively seen spending time with children for some or the other cause.

Cultures are so lovely.so different yet so similar. Kalam is arabic for pen and it’s kalam in Urdu/Hindi too. We found that funny. Since the kids were learning English I thought Pencil may be appropriate… #MissionForChildren #ChildrenUprooted #PCInJordan #ChildrenOfSyria @unicef

A post shared by Priyanka Chopra (@priyankachopra) on Sep 10, 2017 at 2:07am PDT

She is a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF and was seen spending a good time with kids in Amman, Jordan. As per reports and statistics, at present, there are 1.3 million Syrians in Jordan and the education system there is trying their level best to fit these children. But this task ain’t that easy. The Jordan government is in need of aids to educate these kids. Priyanka visited Jordan to meet these kids and raise awareness about the issue among others.

A class full of future doctors, engineers, police officers, teachers. What breaks my heart is they can’t even access proper schools as refugee kids… how will they access higher education?? These hopes and dreams.. where do they stand in the reality of their world? The government schools in Jordan have added evening classes and 200 schools to accommodate the growing number of Syrian children which is approximately 120000 children..But it’s never enough. The world needs to help. We need to help. PLS GO TO www.unicef.org and DONATE whatever you can… let’s make this a collective #MissionForChildren #ChildrenUprooted #PCInJordan #ChildrenOfSyria @unicef

A post shared by Priyanka Chopra (@priyankachopra) on Sep 10, 2017 at 2:19am PDT

Naturally, she took to social media sharing her experience and talking about the condition there. She also insisted people to do their bit and donate whatever possible to make a difference.

This is Ammar(5), Ayat(8), Sulaiman (5 months) Wardshan(9) and they have an elder brother Saleh(10) who works at a grocery store to help supplement the family income, for only 2 Jordanian Dinar (that’s less than $3 USD.) Their father is a day laborer. Sulaiman needs a 2nd surgery because he has a clot in his nose. The family moved from Syria to Jordan 5 years ago. When I asked their mother what would be her wish…considering the war hasn’t ended, she said “if we can’t go home all I want is for my kids to get an education so they can fend for themselves when they are older and help rebuild Syria. We are blessed, we have enough to survive…others have much less.” They didn’t even have furniture in their home. The largesse of heart and compassion she had through her tears moved me to pieces.  PLS GO TO www.unicef.org and DONATE whatever you can… let’s make this a collective #MissionForChildren #ChildrenUprooted #PCInJordan #ChildrenOfSyria @unicef

But it looks like someone wasn’t happy about her work and decided to point it out. A Twitter fellow named Ravindra Gautam who also happens to be a film critique mocked the actress for her initiative and said she should focus more on Indian kids than other. He tweeted ” I would request @priyankachopra that do visit rural areas of India where malnourished kids waiting for food. #MissionForChildren.”

However, this isn’t the first time that she is targeted and taunted for her opinions on social media. It goes without saying that PeeCee is one tough girl and gave it back to the guy just like a boss.

She replied saying, “Ive worked w/ @UNICEFIndia for 12 yrs&visited many such places. What have u done @RavindraGautam_ ?Y is 1 childs prob less imp than another?”

— PRIYANKA (@priyankachopra) September 10, 2017

Well, that’s indeed the right thing to say and we hope Gautam is already regretting tweeting that out. Priyanka often doesn’t take anything seriously when made fun of, but we totally love the way she gives it back to the haters whenever needed!

At present, the gorgeous diva is concentrating on creating awareness, raising funds and supporting the children of war, in whatever way possible. Earlier she also visited Zimbabwe where she met kids who were sexually abused.

After they taught me their dance moves I showed them one of mine.. it’s called the “thumka” #DanceParty #EndViolence #UNICEF #thistimeforafrica #SafePark

A post shared by Priyanka Chopra (@priyankachopra) on May 7, 2017 at 6:54am PDT

It is obvious that she feels strongly for this initiative and is doing her best to make a difference, we believe it was the discrimination bit that she didn’t appreciate at all. And we totally support her for it.

All strength to PeeCee for doing such great work!

In terms of ratings, this season of ‘Game of Thrones’ may be coming off its biggest year ever, but the hit series has also broken records for piracy this year.

MUSO, a piracy monitoring firm reported that the seventh season of the HBO hit drama has been illegally watched more than one billion times, or about 140 million times per episode. Wow, that’s a lot.

GoT Season 7 Was Pirated More Than A Billion Times

In contrast to that, HBO reported only an average of 32 million viewers who watched each episode of the seventh season via legal viewing. However, it is important to note that this number only accounts for the show’s audience In USA and doesn’t include the audience that watch through HBO’s other authorized networks.

But, this season’s illicit sharing was most certainly boosted by the two episodes that leaked online before their release date. But surprisingly, both of the leaks weren’t because of the result of the much-publicized hack of the company, where hackers threatened to release GoT episodes in the press.

GoT Season 7 Was Pirated More Than A Billion Times

Instead, both of the episodes were leaked from HBO’s overseas operations, and in one of the cases, reportedly four people have been arrested in India. Either way, MUSO’s CEO and Co-Founder Andy Chatterley told TorrentFreak that the leaks boosted the piracy — noting, for example, the leaked sixth episode was pirated more times than the season finale.

But, the majority of the piracy was not through the traditional file-sharing torrents, but rather from sites hosting posting unauthorized streaming video of the episodes.

GoT Season 7 Was Pirated More Than A Billion Times

Even after HBO’s considerable efforts to reduce the piracy of the show, it just seems to increase. HBO usually makes new episodes available worldwide on the same day and even launched a standalone streaming service (HBO Now) that doesn’t require a cable subscription.

Set to be the first woman to be a full-time Defence Minister in India, Nirmala Sitharaman’s journey in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) started as a spokesperson, and grew in rank soon with her speaking style and debating skills.

On Sunday, Sitharaman became India’s second woman Defence Minister and the first woman to take charge of this key ministry full time. Then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had held the Defence portfolio twice – from December 1 to December 21 in 1975, and January 14, 1980 to January 15, 1982.

“Somebody who has come from a small town, grown into the party with all the support of the leadership, and if given such responsibility, it just makes you feel sometimes that cosmic grace is there. Otherwise it is impossible,” Sitharaman told reporters here after taking oath as a Union Minister.

An economist by education, Sitharaman will take charge of the crucial ministry at a time when tension continues along India’s borders with Pakistan and China, and the government is undertaking major reforms in the ministry and forces, and has ambitious plans to increase defence manufacturing under its flagship ‘Make in India’ policy. Born in the temple town of Madurai in Tamil Nadu in 1959, Sitharaman has humble roots. Her father worked in the Railways, and her childhood was spent in different parts of the state due to her father’s transferable job. According to those close to the minister, her mother, a homemaker, had love for books, which instilled a love for reading in Sitharaman as well.

After finishing her graduation in Economics from Seethaiakshmi Ramaswamy College in Tiruchirapalli, Sitharaman did a Masters and M.Phil in Economics from the premier Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi. She then worked in the Agricultural Engineers Association, UK in London, Senior Manager, Research and Analysis with PricewaterhouseCoopers, also in London and briefly with the BBC World Service. After coming back to India, Sitharaman served as a Deputy Director of the Centre for Public Policy Studies at Hyderabad. She also started a school in Hyderabad, and was a member of the National Commission for Women from 2003-2005.

In 2008, Sitharaman joined Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and was made a member of the National Executive and became a national spokesperson of the party in 2010. As a spokesperson of the main opposition party at that time, Sitharaman, with her clear command of issues and straight approach, came in the limelight soon.

When the BJP came in power in 2014, Sitharaman was inducted into the ministry, serving as Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs and then held charge of Commerce and Industry Ministry as Minister of State (Independent Charge). Sitharaman is married to Parakala Prabhakar, an alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru University and London School of Economics, and the couple has a daughter.

After 11 years, writer Vikram Chandra’s 2006 thriller ‘Sacred Games’ is finally being adapted on screen, and it was a long time coming. It’s honestly quite surprising how this novel, which is considered one of the most memorable books on Mumbai, hasn’t been turned into a movie or TV show till now.

Becoming the first Indian show in the Netflix Originals category, ‘Sacred Games’ will be an eight-part series. At the press conference held to the announce the production, Chandra insisted on how crucial it will be for any screen adaptation of the novel to be multilingual. “With Netflix, the opportunity to have that multilingual flavour was unpassable,” he adds.

The filming will begin next week, and all the eight hour-long episodes are to be directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, who are co-founders of Phantom Films. And far as the actors are concerned, Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte have been finalized till now.

Basically, the story follows Sartaj Singh, a Mumbai cop, on the trail of Ganesh Gaitonde, a gang lord. Khan has been signed on for the role of Singh, while Siddiqui will essay the role of Gaitonde and Apte that of Anjali Mathur, who is roped in by RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) to snare the don.

And, as for Kashyap, this series will mark his return to the gritty Bombay crime drama, a genre he has previously explored in Satya (1998), Black Friday (2004) and Bombay Velvet (2015). According to him, he plans on treating ‘Sacred Games’ as an eight-hour long movie, even though it is a series. On the other hand, Motwane is more excited about the format, since the viewers are more likely to binge-watch a TV series rather than a two-hour film. “Water cooler conversations are not about movies anymore, they’re about shows,” he adds. “Your competition (with Netflix) is Narcos and Stranger Things. It’s scary but exciting.”

Saif Ali Khan, who claimed he is half-way through the book right now, said it will give him a chance to play a memorable role. Sartaj Singh, a character carried over from a previous book by Chandra, Love in Longing in Bombay, belongs to a family that suffered during Partition. The experience leaves a mark on him. “The stage that I’m in life, I want to do good characters and good work,” Khan adds.

‘Sacred Games’ will be screened in 190 countries in 20 different languages.

download (1)It was 1975, a time when they say India fought for its second independence. It was a time of turmoil, a tile where destinies could be made or destroyed, and fortunes stolen or lost. A time when power was absolute. In a time like that, the quasi-government went after royal families all over the country especially in Rajasthan, claiming that they had not declared their wealth in 1971 when the privy purses were abolished. It claimed that several crores worth of antiques, gold, jewellery and treasures were concealed by the royals. Most of these raids were conducted in Rajasthan, and Baadshaho is the story of one such raid.

Giranjali, the unlikely princess, alien to her land, alien to its habits and its needs, was unceremoniously arrested and thrown into jail by the powers that be. As her palace was being looted, her only hope was Bhawani Singh, who she knew could stop her treasure from being taken away.

Bhawani recruits a team of badasses like himself; Daliya –a hopeless, slippery flirt who everybody knows and who knows everybody, who sleeps in brothels and wakes up on the stress. In fact was even born on them. But he is loyal only to Bhawani.

Tikla AKA Guruji; is the quintessential wizened old man, a booze- guzzling, wisecracking locksmith whose fingers are sharper than knives. The sexy but stoic Sanjana, a loyalist to Gitanjali joins them, and their mission commences: to stop Gitanjali’s gold from being taken away by an elite army led by the joint smoking Major Seher Singh.

They have 96 hours; and the distance is 600 kms of open desert. The odds are heavily stacked against then. But are there the real odds? Or will interpersonal rivalries, political jealousies, royal secrets, human deceit and the unforgiving desert become the forces they will have to overcome…

As each of their moral fibres, badass reserves, and street smart survival instincts are tests, the 6 characters hurtle towards a sandstorm that could either destroy everything, or sweep it all clean.

'Don't want my story to lose its impact'Uzma Ahmed

Delhi-based Uzma Ahmed is aware that a film being made on her life will have to be dealt with, prudently.

The Indian national, who was forced to marry Pakistani resident Tahir Ali at gunpoint during a visit to the neighbouring country in May, has given the rights of her film to director Shivam Nair.

“We’ve been in touch for the past few months. We’ve not decided how much of the story we must showcase, but, whatever we portray will be from my perspective,” says Ahmed. During a trip to Malaysia, Ahmed met Ali, whom she ‘fell in love’ with, and contacted upon her return to India.

'Don't want my story to lose its impact'Sushma Swaraj with Uzma Ahmed

As per reports, Ahmed decided to pay a visit to Ali in Pakistan, who, on her arrival, sedated her and married her at gunpoint. “I don’t want the story to lose its impact,” she says, hoping that viewers learn from her mistakes before making hasty choices. “When people travel somewhere, they should have sound knowledge of the place they are heading to. I blindly entered Pakistan, but no one should have to face dire consequences over a lapse in judgment.”

Ahmed says her film will be a tribute to External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, who facilitated her return to India. “I have met Sushmaji many times after my return. I don’t think I would be alive without her support,” Ahmed says, adding that Swaraj’s character will play a prominent role in the film.

Due to multiple cases filed at the same time, celebrity endorsers were targeted majorly in India in 2015. As a result of which Consumer Protection Bill, 2015, called for tough penalties which can include a fine of up to Rs 50 lakh and imprisonment of up to five years – for those irresponsible celebrities. They need to be cautious with the product which they decide to endorse. The law, however, does not restrict stupid advertisements, so let us today discuss the worse decisions our “favorite” celebrities have made.

Shahrukh Khan, Lux

Weird Products Celebrities Have Endorsed And Their Embarrassing Advertisements© Pinterest/dahliainsanifar

In our opinion, Lux has always had simply hilarious ads (Not a compliment). But they definitely lowered their own bar with this ad in 2005 with SRK. Tell me if you don’t think that Hema Malini was photoshopped on it straight from the Kent ad. Obviously, people had doubts about the ad, in an interview, SRK revealed, “Some people think it’s a girlie ad, that it questions my sexuality. But I love the idea of getting into the tub, just as I had seen all my lovely leading ladies do.”

There is honestly no single fairness cream ad which made any amount of sense, but it is especially embarrassing when celebrities (actually their photoshopped doppelgangers) do them. Shahrukh Khan received a piercing dash of backlash for his fairness cream ad. But, obviously given it’s him, he had a witty and manipulating response to shut the haters.

Others who made money in the fairness obsessed country are Yami Gautam (For Fair And Lovely), John Abraham (For Garnier), Priyanka Chopra (Ponds White Beauty), and the most surprising one was Emraan Hashmi for MeGlow.

We were surprised for the only reason that we would honestly expect MeBlow from him not MeGlow.

It is strange how celebrities in India get away with such objectionable ads and land in trouble for making a movie about a historical character.

Malaika Arora Khan, Zandu Balm

The sketchy reason to include this here is the fact that she was forced to make this ad. Emami sent a legal notice to the Arbaaz Khan production for infringement of copyright and using “Zandu Balm” for Dabangg’s item song. The settlement not only made Malaika endorse Zandu Balm and self-nominate her name for Memes, but also parts of the song was used in the advertisement.

Foreign Invasion

Ads with foreign familiar faces and forced cultural appropriation instantly makes you laugh and then a little sad. In 2008, Bajaj managed to get Jackie Chan to star in this ad for Bajaj Discover DTSi. Although it was seemingly shot in China, but Chan did Namastey (talk about cultural appropriation). Pierce Brosnan, James Bond star, was tricked by Pan Bahar to endorse their products. On realizing that the product can contain ingredients causing cancer, he distanced himself from the endorsement of the same and demanded to take down all the advertisements, including him, but things stay with Internet forever, especially the things you don’t want.

Parle-G, G manne Gabbar

We know it is too old but it’s definitely gold. I hope it made your day as much as ours.

Disclaimer: We don’t want the faint-hearted to watch this, because it is too relatable to be true.

Remember how that exquisite car passed by you the other day on the road and you literally took an automatic 180 degree turn with it to watch it as long as you can? Something very similar to that happened when Salman Khan met this social media-famous kid, oh wait, rich kid on 9th August. Talk about being relatable.

Salman Khan is juggling multiple projects at once and planning for a lot more to come. He is currently shooting for ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ and has also confirmed a cameo in Shahrukh’s Aanand L Rai directorial. People can’t hold their excitement to watch them on big screen together again.

While shooting for the last schedule of Ali Abbas Zafar directorial in Abu Dhabi, he decided to meet a super-rich 15-year-old boy; Rashed Belhasa. He has posts proving the very many meetings he has had with various celebrities and has also appeared in the Vlogs of a well-known YouTuber, Mohamed Beiraghdary with the channel, Mo Vlogs. Rashed shared two clips of their meeting on his Instagram account.

Akshay Kumar in 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'Akshay Kumar in ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’

Hindi film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, which attempts to spread the message of eradicating open defecation in an entertaining vein, surpassed the Rs 100 crore on the eighth day since its release in India, its makers said on Saturday.

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film features Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar and Anupam Kher in key roles.

“Day 8: Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha crosses Rs 100 crore,” said a statement issued on behalf of the film’s makers.

The movie, which hit the screens on August 11, minted Rs 100.05 crore till Friday.

Its success has — in Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna’s words — helped the box office to break free from constipation after big ticket films like “Jagga Jasoos” and “Jab Harry Met Sejal” failed to elicit the expected response.

Bhumi, who plays the role of a woman who demands a toilet in her husband’s house, is ecstatic.

“Today is a special day and I really want to thank our audiences tht laughed and cried with us, believed in us and gave us love. Shree sir, thank you for choosing me to be your Jaya and making this film. You truly are amazing,” she tweeted.

“Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” also takes forward Akshay’s golden run at the box office after his entertainers “Airlift”, “Housefull 3”, “Rustom” and “Jolly LLB 2”.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ is Akshay Kumar’s eighth Rs 100 crore grosser… The second highest after Salman Khan (11 Rs 100 crore grossers).”

Meanwhile, Twinkle posted on social media a beach selfie and in the backdrop is a man relieving himself. The accompanying tongue-in-cheek caption — true to MrsFunnybones’ style — read: “Good morning and I guess here is the first scene of ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha Part 2’ #WhenYourWalkGoesDownTheToilet.”

The film opens with a line, “History is written by the victors”. It’s enough to intrigue you and you’re now looking forward to what Gurinder Chadha has in store for you. But, you’re going to be a little more than surprised!

In a Delhi mansion, you see Lord Mountbatten (Hugh Bonneville); who has arrived to decide the fate of the country. The last viceroy is seen entering his new house and with him, comes the gift of freedom for India.

In Chadha’s film, the British finally deciding to leave India is actually a benevolent act. After fighting the Germans, they are too exhausted to rule India anymore. Hence, the difficult job of letting go of the country falls into the lap of the last viceroy of India.

‘Viceroy House' Review: An Absurd Film About The Partition Of India© Viceroy House

The nation is on fire, thousands have been killed and hundreds of women have been raped in Punjab and Bengal. And hence Mountbatten decides that dividing India in two is the only solution. But little does he know that he is just a puppet, the strings are in someone else’s hands. He is just doing what he’s told.

The movie revolves around the theory of how Lord Mountbatten wasn’t responsible for the partition but it was actually Winston Churchill who decided our fate.

The whole idea of dividing two countries, one for Hindus and Sikhs and the other for Muslims was done from the perspective of controlling Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Denzel Smith) because dealing with Jawaharlal Nehru  (Tanveer Ghani) could be a difficult task.

‘Viceroy House' Review: An Absurd Film About The Partition Of India© Viceroy House

And, the poor Viceroy was clueless, despite being the King’s relative. And when he was introduced to the facts, he felt devastated, guilty and miserable. Somehow, what he did makes him and his wife Lady Edwina Mountbatten (Gillian Anderson) more empathetic in the eyes of the people of India.

You do feel sad for Mountbatten when he tries to raise his voice about being used and Lord Ismay (Michael Gambon) simply states that it might be someone else’s vision but he is the man responsible for India’s division because the entire plan is called, “Mountbatten Plan”. Well, you got to give the director credit for this scene, because it does grip you.

The film also revolves around the people working in the viceroy’s house. You have Jeet Kumar (Manish Dayal) and Aaliya (Huma Qureshi) who love each other but the partition might destroy everything.

‘Viceroy House' Review: An Absurd Film About The Partition Of India© Viceroy House

Let’s not forget Mahatma Gandhi (Neeraj Kabi) whose makeup is so terrible that it hurts looking at him. People who feel there might be something about Lady Mountbatten and Nehru’s affair, well, there is literally nothing!

There is no denying that the director’s intentions are genuine, but this 1947 historical drama about the partition is nothing but a fatuous and absurd narrative. You feel that somewhere, it didn’t look like the director’s vision but more of a mouth-piece for the English.

‘Viceroy House' Review: An Absurd Film About The Partition Of India© Viceroy House

There is nothing in Chadha’s partition that we aren’t aware of. You might feel engulfed at times, looking at how a lot of people suffered but that’s just temporary.

This film’s focus more on the idea to prove that the  Viceroy was not responsible for the tragedy. Which it actually does is misguide the Indian audience as the Hindi dubbed releases with the name, ‘Partition 1947’.

Chadha’s tries to present a dark chapter from Indian history in such a simple and unsubtle manner that it’s too difficult to digest.

Check out the trailer below:
