While we look at the calendars to mark the dates for festivals or special occasions, when it comes to Friendship Day, the first thing we look at is Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp to see the messages and wishes our friends have left for us. However, no matter how many messages we receive, nothing can surpass the joy of getting wished by someone, who not only cherishes that day but also boosts our morale like no one else. Bollywood’s Khiladi, Akshay Kumar turned out to be that special friend for these female martial artists, whom he wished Friendship day on his Twitter account.

Happy #FriendshipDay to all my amazing female martial artists!! All you ladies make me prouder than you can imagine @AUThackeray @psbhumi pic.twitter.com/8Uqjlffa1R

Be it his selfless acts, his initiative to help the families of martyrs, to looking after the social issues and not holding himself from appreciating someone; Akshay Kumar is one actor who has always posed as a great inspiration for one and all. This time too, Akshay expressed his gratitude to the female martial artists, along with actress Bhumi Pednekar who will be seen with him in the movie ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. The movie talks about a woman who leaves her husband on the first day of their marriage after she finds out that his family does not have a toilet. The man then sets out to win back his love and break the age-old traditions to bring a change that is much needed in the society. Actor Akshay Kumar has always been vocal about civic issues and his movie will definitely become a catalyst in changing people’s perception towards it.

Akshay Kumar

Actor Akshay Kumar, who is surprised by how 54 per cent people in India don’t have toilets in their homes, released a toilet anthem titled ‘Toilet Ka Jugaad’ from his upcoming film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’.

Akshay released the song on Twitter. “Next stop Agra! Unveiling the Toilet Anthem, #ToiletKaJugaad at @Live_Hindustan event! @ToiletTheFilm@psbhumipic.twitter.com/cg6PKTlfqY

“Do you know that 54 per cent of people living in India do not have a toilet attached to their homes? Hence, I requested the music director to compose a song with this important message,” Akshay said. “The intention to create this song was to make people realise the importance of having toilets in their homes. I want everyone to educate their kids so that they can grow up and bring this big change,” he added.

‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, directed by Shree Narayan Singh, deals with the need of sanitisation in India and is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign. It features Bhumi Pednekar with Akshay and is slated for a release on August 11.

Actor Akshay Kumar is, reportedly, all set to star in the Hindi remake of ‘Jatt & Juliet’.

Mumbai: The remake rights of ‘Jatt & Juliet’, the biggest hit in Punjabi cinema, has been secured by producers Himesh Reshammiya and Rakesh Upadhyay – the team that has just released the comic romp ‘Khiladi 786’.

It, therefore, comes as no surprise to hear that Akshay Kumar is likely to play the lead in the Hindi adaptation of the film.

The all-time blockbuster of a Punjabi romance starred Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa as a rustic Punjabi and a sophisticated fashion designer who keep bumping into one another in Canada.

The Punjabi film has been itching for a Bollywood interpretation. We now hear that following ‘Khiladi 786’, Reshammiya and Upadhyay have joined hands to do ‘Jatt & Juliet’ in Hindi.

The Hindi remake would be directed by Anurag Singh, who directed the Punjabi smash hit.

Upadhyay, while admitting that the ‘Jatt & Juliet’ remake would start early next year, refrains from commenting on the cast.

“At the moment, I wouldn’t like to comment on the cast. But yes, Himesh and I are going ahead with two projects. One of them is a thriller and the other is the remake of ‘Jatt & Juliet’. The Punjabi film was also produced by Himesh and me. We’ll do the remake on a much more lavish scale. But the basic plot of ‘Jatt & Juliet’ is so endearing it needs no embellishment in Hindi.”

Press him about Akshay Kumar’s presence in the remake, and Upadhyay laughs: “We’ve just delivered a film that has been immensely liked. So Himesh, Akshay and I would definitely not like to break the team. Like I said, until all the formalities are completed it would be unwise to talk about the casting.”

Reshammiya and Upadhyay intend to continue producing films together.

“After ‘Khiladi 786’, Himesh has 10 hardbound scripts ready. We’re both workaholics. We’ll continue to collaborate on mass-entertainment films. We want to make the kind of films that make people smile and laugh.”
