Secret Superstar makes it to top 5 all-time worldwide grossing films

Secret Superstar received a humungous response in China

Aamir Khan’s last release, Secret Superstar did not just receive love and praise in the superstar’s home country, India, but it has also entered the prestigious Top 5 list of all time grossing films worldwide. Even though Aamir Khan only had a cameo in the film, yet his loyal fans thronged the theatres to watch it because of their faith in the content that he brings to the table.

With the entry of Secret Superstar in the top 5 list, 3 of Aamir Khan’s films are now part of it. It is not an easy feat for any actor to have 3 of his films on the list of Top 5 Indian grossing films worldwide but Aamir Khan has managed to do that. With Dangal collecting 1908 crores, Secret Superstar collecting 874 crores and PK gathering 831 crores, Aamir Khan is the only Indian actor ever to set such a massive record with his films.

It’s not just about delivering superior content but it is also about doing that consistently. While all these above-mentioned films did phenomenally well in India, they also received humongous response overseas, especially in China.

Dangal: 1908 cr
Bahubali 2: 1700 cr
Secret Superstar: 874 cr
PK: 831 cr
Bajrangi Bhaijaan: 698 cr

In fact, according to Chinese IMDb, Aamir Khan is the top-ranked foreign actor there and Dangal is the top ranking film. The other two films apart from Aamir’s in the list of Top 5 Indian films worldwide are, Bajrangi Bhaijaan (5th rank) and Baahubali 2 (2nd rank).

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau meets Shah Rukh, Aamir at Mumbai bash; discusses how his country can be favourable spot for Hindi films’ shoot

A prominent room in Colaba’s The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel bustled with happy faces that had collected to meet Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday evening. Even though the gathering — that saw the presence of top business leaders too — was limited in its star power, the presence of Shah Rukh Khan was enough. The ever-so-charming Khan, we hear, was humbled by Trudeau’s warmth, as the two discussed how cinematic ties between the two countries could be improved.

A sherwani-clad Trudeau, accompanied by wife Sophie Gregoire and kids, Xavier James and Ella-Grace, was also greeted by Aamir Khan, Anupam Kher and Farhan Akhtar. A guest present at the bash tells mid-day, “Trudeau seemed curious about the Hindi film industry and had some knowledge about it. He conversed with SRK and Aamir, and enquired how Canada could become a favourable hub for shooting Bollywood films.”

A lavish offering of food from across the globe — comprising sushi, pastas and risottos — supplemented a desi spread. But fitness-freak Trudeau and Sophia were apparently apprehensive of digging in. “His kids enjoyed the spread, especially the Indian desserts, with the rabdi being an instant hit. But, the PM and his wife were selective with what they tried.”

Model Alankrita Sahai, who was also present at the do, says, “I am glad that I met Trudeau. Having followed his campaigns since 2015, I was happy to notice that, in real life, he is exactly how he showcases himself to be.”

Giving in to team’s demand, Aamir Khan to host bash as Secret Superstar tops Rs 600 crore in China

With Secret Superstar having made over Rs 600 crore in China within four weeks of its release, Aamir Khan has been busy fielding messages from the film’s team, all reading the same thing – party toh banti hai! Jubilant over the film’s runaway success himself, the producer-actor has finally decided to pop the bubbly. mid-day has it that he, along with wife Kiran Rao, will be hosting a bash on February 21 at his Bandra residence to celebrate the movie’s success.

Says a source close to Khan, “The film’s team had been demanding a party for some time now. Since Aamir was busy with the shoot of Thugs Of Hindostan, he kept stalling it. He first told them that he will throw a party when it crosses the Rs 100-crore mark in China. When it did, he good-naturedly joked that he’ll wait till it makes Rs 500 crore. Now, he has zeroed in on a date.”

Knowing Khan’s proclivity towards keeping things low-key, the do too will be an intimate affair. Besides Secret Superstar actor Zaira Wasim, director Advait Chandan and the crew, the actor has also extended invitations to some of his Bollywood director friends including Rajkumar Hirani and Nitesh Tiwari among others.

“Aamir is currently shooting at nights for Thugs Of Hindostan. However, he will change it around and shoot through the day on February 20 and 21, so that he can host the party on Wednesday night,” adds the source.

The small-budget film hit the screens in China on January 19. While the movie had made R64 crore upon its Diwali release in India, it has emerged the top-grossing imported film of 2018 in China, thus continuing Khan’s success streak in the neighbouring country after PK, 3 Idiots and Dangal.

Aamir Khan and China is like a deadly combination. His movies always work there, and it seems like Chinese people have a soft spot for Aamir. They love him and his movies so much that ‘Dangal’ became India’s highest grossing movie worldwide, coming close to making â‚¹2000 crore, all thanks to them.

And now, another Aamir Khan movie is receiving a ton of love and adoration from the Chinese audience. Despite not doing as well at the Indian Box Office as it should have, ‘Secret Superstar’ has become a huge hit in our neighbouring country. In the movie, Aamir only has an extended cameo, but if he’s there, so are his Chinese fans.

The incredible movie is getting the recognition it deserves in China, and it even broke ‘Dangal’s’ opening day collection in the process. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Secret Superstar’s’ opening day numbers have well exceeded those of ‘Dangal’. Moreover, the movie, which has Zaira Wasim in the lead role, made a whopping â‚¹43 crores on Friday alone.

Aamir Khan’s “Secret Superstar” has minted $700,681 in Taiwan since its release

Aamir Khan’s “Secret Superstar” has minted $700,681 in Taiwan since its release. The film, which also features Zaira Wasim and which lit up the box office in India on Diwali, opened in Taiwan on November 24. Zee Studios International took the film to the foreign market, read a statement.

In “Secret Superstar”, Zaira, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, plays a teenaged girl named Insia who dreams of becoming a singer. The film is about how she fulfils her dreams by keeping her identity hidden. Vibha Chopra, Head – Zee Studios International (Film Marketing, Distribution and Acquisition) said: “Content is what wins hearts worldwide and ‘Secret Superstar’, which is heavy on content is a proof of that. So much so that it is the widest Bollywood film release in Taiwan. We are happy to see how positively international markets are reacting to the film.”

“Secret Superstar” has amassed a total of $700,681 in Taiwan. “Given that ‘Secret Superstar’ has connected with various audiences across the globe, we are excited to see how well the film does in the coming months, in other territories as well,” Chopra added. ‘”Secret Superstar” is written and directed by Advait Chandan and produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. The film has also released in markets like the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the UAE and other Gulf countries as well as Pakistan.

‘Dangal’ has been causing a lot of ‘mangal’ everywhere in the world. The stellar record-breaking movie has already made it big in India, overseas and especially in China.

The Aamir Khan-starrer has added a new feather to its overflowing cap. ‘Dangal’ has been awarded as the ‘Best Asian Film’ at the seventh Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards. The amazing piece of news was shared by Shabana Azmi, who was also a part of the jury.

According to a report on the website Spotboye , Aamir Khan’s trainer from ‘Dangal’, Rakesh Udiyar is training Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Rakesh has earlier trained Aamir and Fatima in Dangal. He is also responsible for Salman Khan’s fab physique in Sultan. For Fatima the celebrity instructor is relying largely on functional training.Fatima has responded well to the fitness programme. Yash Raj is also extremely happy with the results.

Thugs of Hindostan stars Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina Kaif. It is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and is produced by Yash Raj Films. It is slated for a Diwali 2018 release.
