Even if you weren’t invited to one of the biggest weddings of this year (not that we were expecting an invite but being wishful doesn’t harm), we guess all of us by now know what exactly happened at ‘Sonam Ki Shaadi’. Be it Facebook, Twitter or Instagram; the internet was flooded with pictures and videos of Sonam Kapoor’s mehendi, Sonam and Anand’s wedding and their larger than life reception in Mumbai.
Thanks to the hyperactive social media, we all knew the course of events within seconds of it happening and the craziness that overpowered the dance floor as the night shined brighter with each minute.

As I scrolled through the initial pictures and videos of Sonam and Anand Ahuja’s reception, I kind of knew that there will be some top contenders who will face a tough competition to STEAL the limelight from the bride and groom. And as expected there were too many competitors.

Honestly, it wasn’t Salman, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor or the bride and groom themselves. The entire show was stolen by their wedding cakes and watching them cut those fancy cakes was possibly one of the best moments from the wedding, except Ranveer Singh’s crazy dancing.
But according to me, the winner of this “Who can steal the limelight better” is the cakes that the entire family happily munched on. Just look at the cake that perfectly sums up every Indian married couple in the world. Apparently, Anand is a basketball fan, so this cake makes all the sense in the world.

Seriously, such cakes are to live and die for. Every time, the cakes were in frame, I forgot about Sonam, Anand and the entire B-town co. Who could have thought that there will be a day when I will think about eating a basketball net? I guess Sonam’s patissier did. And that ‘Gende ka phool’ was all the sanskaar we need. You just can’t look at the cake and not sing “Sasuraal Genda Phool”. You just can’t!

Maybe, the cakes overcompensated for all the glitz and glamour that ‘Sonam Ki Shadi’ was. Shah Rukh, Salman or Ranveer have got nothing on these cakes, which will make every foodie roll their eyes in amazement.
Seriously, I felt like Rancho from ‘3 Idiots’ who couldn’t focus on anything else but food. Here I could only look at the giant fancy cakes. Honestly, I was so smitten by the cake that I forgot everything else. This is me at every wedding.
If I was invited at the wedding, I would have just stood in the cake’s vicinity and focused on that mouth-watering thing right there. *Coughing* “Waiter, can I get a glass of Champagne to go with it please?”
And the cake made sure that nobody dares to steal the limelight away from it. How?
