Way before its release, ‘PadMan’ managed to bring about a change in the society. While their latest promotion and marketing techniques have been subjected to a lot of criticism, one cannot deny that they have helped in getting rid of the stigma around menstruation.
Thank you for tagging me #ArunachalamMuruganantham ‪Yes, that’s a Pad in my hand & there’s nothing to be ashamed about. It’s natural! Period. ‬ ‪#PadManChallenge‬ ‪Copy, Paste this & Challenge your friends to take a photo with a Pad!‬ Here I am Challenging @deepikapadukone @virat.kohli @aliaabhatt
While we all know that the movie is based on real incidents, most of us don’t know about the real Pad Man- Arunachalam Muruganantham.
He is a social entrepreneur from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and is the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad-making machine. The man has been applauded by the entire world for working at the grass root level and for generating awareness about traditional but unhygienic practices around menstruation in rural India. No wonder Twinkle Khanna was inspired by him.
The movie has been in the headlines since it went on floors, and Muruganantham always did his bit to promote the film on his level. Time and again, he posted pictures with Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar and was even on the sets of the film quite often.
Happy birthday @mrsfunnybones . Thanks for being a great friend. Few conversations do start a spark ! It started at London and now comes the movie. Thanks for taking the journey and mission forward with #PadMan. Wishing you a great year! pic.twitter.com/wSou6aoTWC

And just before the release of the film, he took to his Twitter to post a beautiful note that he penned down to the cast and crew of the film and to express his gratitude to them. With the caption, “It’s going to be an emotional day!”, his letter went viral across the internet.
