The sudden demise of Sridevi has left the whole nation in shock and we still can’t get over the fact that the beautiful actress left this world so soon. Bollywood can’t stop mourning her death and everyone who has worked with her or has known her can’t help but recall their time with her.

Yesterday, even Hrithik Roshan took to his Twitter and recalled a heartfelt moment that he shared with her.

He shared a picture of himself with the legendary Sridevi ji. It was the first shot he gave and it was with her.

Penning down his thoughts, the actor wrote, “I loved her, admired her so much. My first ever acting shot was with Sri Devi, I was nervous in front of her and I remember her shaking her hands pretending to be nervous cause of me, just to boost my confidence. We had to laugh, and she kept laughing until I got it right. Will miss you mam.”

Sridevi breathed her last on Saturday night. The first female superstar of Bollywood was in Dubai attending Mohit Marwah’s wedding with her beloved husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi Kapoor.

Known for her impeccable acting skills and versatile persona, her sudden death has left a great vacuum to be filled in Bollywood and our hearts. Sri ji, you will be immensely missed!

It’s the 21st century, and on paper, we might be taking a step towards becoming a developing nation, but in reality, we are still backward when it comes to dealing with mental health issues.  In India, depression as a mental health problem is still considered a taboo. We aren’t a country where we openly talk about it, maybe that’s the reason why many who suffer from it are scared to take professional help. We often try shutting down such conversation and often call one dealing with it ‘insane’. 

But what’s even more concerning is when an influential figure talks about depression and terms it as ‘luxury’. 

In a recent interview, Salman Khan spoke about how since the age of 15-16, he has been working non-stop and has never taken a time off. Even when the actor isn’t shooting, he is out on the field doing something or the other. According to media reports, the actor even talked about mental health and said, “I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional.” He also added, “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation.”

Dear Salman, you ain’t the only one who is missing out on vacations. There are lakhs of people out there who can’t afford the luxury of taking a vacation. But you can SURELY afford the vacation. You not taking one is your CHOICE. And to be clear having a vacation and being depressed isn’t the same thing.

Depression is a serious issue and a bit of research will surely help you understand it. Also, DEPRESSION isn’t a LUXURY…no one loves being miserable, sad, dejected, or low-spirited. It’s not a CHOICE that someone can make. 

What stuns us is the fact when someone like Salman Khan who is considered a demigod in India dismisses it as a trivial problem. When a public face who can influence millions of people talks in this way, you can just understand the consequences his words can have and we don’t need to tell you that. 

Depression isn’t a temporary phase as if you are having a mood swing or just some random hormonal change which will get better. It is pretty serious and not easy to overcome. 

It is such a SHAME when a popular figure talks about it as if depression is like choosing a topping on your pizza, which you decided when to have and when not to have.

FYI Mr Khan, as per World Health Organisation (WHO), one in every four children between the age of 13 and 15 in India and 86 million people in the Southeast Asia region suffer from depression. Well, definitely can’t call it a luxury now, can we?

Mental illness is as serious as your back problem or you getting hurt while doing some stunt that goes viral all over the Internet. Those bruises you get are temporary but not DEPRESSION!

Well, you can actually talk to your film fraternity friends to get a better idea about it.

Actors like Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan have come forward and actually talked about it publically. Believe it or not but confessing that you are depressed or have come out of it ain’t an easy job. It requires a lot of strength, hard work, and strong spirit. It is a fight much real than the action sequences you do on-screen. It ain’t a fight that gets over with few retakes; in depression, every day is a fight and you are just clueless when it will end.

So just a request Salman Khan, you have a crazy fan following and you know it. You know your super fan following and the impact your words have. So stop using terms like RAPE and DEPRESSION so casually, as if it is OK for it to happen. Because it is NOT OK.

Think a bit before you speak; just like your on-screen characters, your off-screen one leaves an impression too. Trust me, no one would like to live in the luxury of being sad or depressed, not really an ideal life for anyone. Just give it a thought, because you can’t get away with saying just about anything every time.

Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu’s ‘October’ has been in the news ever since director Shoojit Sircar announced it. However, nothing much is known about the film except that we will see Varun donning a character that we have never seen him in before.

Many were of the opinion that ‘October’ was supposed to be a thriller film, however, the first look has given quite a different perspective. ‘October’ looks more like a romantic drama that explores different shades of love and relationships. The small clip was released by the makers today and it looks like another slice-of-life film.

The teaser takes us into the world of ‘October’ giving us a hint of what kind of love story it will be. Just three shots and it is enough to make you love the gloomy yet beautiful world of Varun and Banita. 

While the length of the video is pretty small, the shots in the film are breathtakingly beautiful. The first shot presents us with Varun standing in front of a dried-up tree.

The next shot brings you the beautiful Banita standing near a window staring outside. Though nothing much is revealed in the first look, we’ve got to say both look quite intense and marvellous.

Shoojit Sircar’s ‘October’ is based on true events and is said to be inspired from a Hollywood flick. The film will hit the screens on April 13. 

When it comes to films, apart from the cast, the most excited person is the director. They are not only super-enthusiastic about the work, but try to multitask just to make their film a success. A bonding that a director has with his film is pretty special. From the first frame to the last, they tend to remember every detail of the film.s

I have often heard that directors are very attached to their movies, but when I got to sit down with ‘Black Panther’ director Ryan Coogler, I got a better insight of what it means to nurture a project and make it into a huge film.

For Coogler, Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ is a very special movie. Every scene that he has shot is very close to his heart. From deciding the cast, to how he would want to proceed with the film, Coogler had a very clear view. 

While for many, ‘Black Panther’ might have made his debut on-screen just two years back, for the director he was always around. Talking exclusively to MensXP he said, “For me, he was always around in the comic books. And I think he is such an interesting hero. We have been planning to make this film for a while. I think it is definitely time for him to have his movie to have his turn.”

‘Black Panther’ means a lot of things to Coogler as a superhero and as a warrior king of Wakanda. He is a combination of various things and that’s what makes him an interesting hero. “Black Panther means he is part of wisdom, heritage, and innovation, nobility, and leadership. He is someone who understands the responsibility he is given,” the director said. 

When asked about the idea of making a superhero film in Bollywood. Ryan gave a bold smile and excitingly gave a nod right away. Talking about it he said, “Oh my God, now that sounds amazing. Now that’s something really cool, I would like to do it. I have never been to India, that’s something I would love to do that.”

‘Black Panther’ is all set to hit the screens on 16th February and stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B Jordan, and Lupita Nyong’o. With superhero films ruling the box-office lately, it would be interesting to see how this one performs.
