Post the critically acclaimed hit and a lip lock with a girl in SHAITAN, Actress Kirti Kulhari will be seen playing the love interest of Luke Kenny who turns into a ZOMBIE in India first Zombie Origin film RISE OF THE ZOMBIE, produced by BSI entertainment and Kenny Media.

Infact both will be seen in a raunchy love making scene in the film which will be the most passionate scene ever shot in Bollwood, as it takes the film forward and it will also showcase the Origin of the primeval fear and the terrifying path of a truly deranged mind gone astray.

Earlier Kirti Kulhari was apprehensive in shooting such a bold scene, but writer and director Devaki Singh allayed her fears and assured her that though it will be a bold sequence as per Bollywood standards, it will be shot aesthetically. Kirti Kulhari agreed since Devaki Singh being a woman director would understand her predicament and she shared a comfort factor with her.

Though they fear that the censors might have issues, they are fine with going ahead and getting an A +certificate.. Incidentally Devaki Singh will be the 1st woman director in the world to shoot a Zombie film, and being an expert in the Zombie genre, helped in completing the film and winning the race to be the 1st Zombie film against the 2 other Zombie films in Bollywood, which are still lagging behind in production.

Most of the film making countries in the world have their own ZOMBIE FILM….RISE OF THE ZOMBIE has won the race to be the 1st Zombie film in India… Earlier Luke Kenny too, whose last release was the iconic film ROCK ON, was bit unsure of the passionate love making scene, since he has a certain image and fan following amongst the youth, but went ahead, since it was essential to the plot of the film.

Rise of the ZOMBIE will be different from other flicks attempted in this genre since it is not a Zombie comedy, nor a Zombie survival series, but the journey of the transformation and origin of a ZOMBIE, due to unpredictable events, complex back story, into a contemporary psychological horror with unimaginable Zombie mayhem that will keep the audience to the edge of the seats.

Competing with the likes of worldwide stunners like Beyonce, Rihanna, Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton, India’s only erotica icon and Playboy cover girl Sherlyn Chopra, has bagged the 63rd spot on the list of Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2013, in a poll on the international website AskMen.

Surpassing names like Rachel Weisz, Tina Fey, Katie Holmes, Kate Moss, Kim Kardashian, Charlize Theron and India’s Bipasha Basu (who bagged the 67th spot), Sherlyn scored up.

The site seemed floored with her, stating “while some of her more traditional countrymen chastised her for the bold move (to pose for Playboy), Sherlyn stood firm, posed for the iconic mag and proudly took her place in history.”

“Around 20 million readers are said to have voted for this poll, which makes it a list that truly reflects who men from all over the world really celebrate,” noted Sherlyn’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar. What’s more! The list is also one of the few which refrains from picking names for looks, face value and popularity.

Instead the readers have chosen more wisely, going with women who represent the complete package of beauty, brains, ambition and charm. No doubt, being chosen as a woman of substance is more awesome than just being a pretty face or a hot bod; and Sherlyn must feel proud of it. Or would it be more appropriate to say that she has begun making her country proud of her.

Apart from being on the cover of Playboy next year, Sherlyn may also set foot at the Cannes Film Festival; playing the female lead in Rupesh Paul’s international motion picture Kamasutra 3D.

Lucky Kabootar gets lucky

Entire shooting of  Raj Kanwar Pictures  first film LUCKY KABOOTAR got completed on 12.12.12..

Though the youngest producer of the film Karan Raj Kanwar (he is only 20 years old and is eldest son of late film maker Raj Kanwar) could have completed the shooting earlier, he stretched the schedule a little bit so that he could wrap up the film on 12.12.12 as it is a date which falls only once in one thousand years and is considered lucky.

It was also an emotional moment for the young producer, as it is his first independent venture and in the absence of the help and guidance of his experienced and successful father. Says Karan, ” I am really missing my father terribly today. But i have decided to carry his legacy forward. LUCKY KABOOTAR was a script very close to his heart.

So i chose it as my first film to produce as a film maker. I know that wherever my father is today must be very happy & prod  to see my this achievement today and his blessings are with me.” Incidentally Karan has also rechristened his father’s banner as Raj Kanwar Picturess  in place of Inderjit Film Combines which was Raj Kanwar’s original banner. Lucky Kabootar features Eijaz Khan, Kulraj Randhawa & Shraddha Das in the main lead in the movie.

Ravi Kissan , Sanjay Mishra  & Atul Mathur in supporting roles. Film is written by Shyam Goyal & has music by Santokh Singh. It is being directed by  Raj Kanwar’s erstwhile chief assistant Shammi Chhabra who makes his debut as the independent director from this film.

A romantic comedy, Lucky Kabootar is slated for release in the summer of next year,2013.

Hrithik Roshan: The sexiest man on the planet

Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan topped Eastern Eye newspaper’s renowned list of the 50 Sexiest Asian Men In The World for the second year in a row.

The star of record-breaking 2012 hit Agneepath beat off tough competition from around the world and won by an even bigger margin than last year as he received votes from all over the world from continents that included Asia, Europe, Africa and South America from fans of all ages and different cultures.

Even though he was the hot favourite and led right from the beginning, the win came as a major surprise to Indian cinema’s hottest pin up.  “I am extremely humbled at the decision of the public, also a little embarrassed as I just can’t imagine myself as sexy! I’m actually someone who’s just trying to get by with his battered, bruised and broken tools. So a big thank you to all for this dose of encouragement! Thank you Eastern Eye readers for this very sweet recognition,” said Hrithik Roshan.

Hrithik who is working on hotly anticipated superhero film Krrish 3 has become one of the most sought after names in cinema, television and by big brand endorsements. He beat Pakistani pop star turned actor Ali Zafar who was the surprise runner up. Salman Khan finished third and last year’s runner Shahid Kapoor came fourth. Eastern Eye showbiz editor Asjad Nazir, who puts together the very popular list and is chairman of the judging panel, said despite having the best physique, those voting for Hrithik were impressed by a lot of his other qualities.

“Although guys and girls from different age groups, cultures and countries pushed Hrithik to the top of the list they all pin-pointed different qualities that make him the sexiest man on the planet. Whilst some were impressed by his physique and good looks, others liked that he is humble, a devoted family man, father and hardworking individual. 

This not only makes Hrithik the perfect role model, but the dream man of women around the world and someone men are aspiring to be like. The mass global appeal means it will only be a matter of time before he becomes an even bigger international star,” said Asjad Nazir. A record-breaking year in terms of voting resulted in the list trending across Twitter for a week in India, as well as introducing the highest ever number of newcomers.

Bollywood newcomer Sidharth Malhotra was the highest new entry at fifth place and narrowly beat off popular TV star Kushal Tandon who was sixth, television stars that include Barun Sobti (10), Karan Tacker (11), Gurmeet Choudhary (22), Karan Singh Grover (24), Vivian D’Sena (27) and Ashish Kapoor (28).

Other big names included Shah Rukh Khan (7), Ranbir Kapoor (9), Jay Sean (14), Emraan Hashmi (16), actor Imran Khan (17) and boxer Amir Khan (29). The highest placed Pakistani was once again Ali Zafar (2), the highest placed British star was One Direction band member Zayn Malik (12) and the highest placed sportsman was once again Indian cricket star Virat Kohli (23). Other notable names in the list included John Abraham (8), Varun Dhawan (13), Akshay Kumar (15), Arjun Rampal (21).

Pritish Nandy to be honoured in Bangladesh

Noted humanitarian, poet, journalist, photographer, TV host, painter, editor, columnist, and filmmaker Pritish Nandy just added another feather to his already feathered cap.

The Government of Bangladesh has invited Pritish Nandy for a special State honour on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Liberation struggle. The Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, who is also the National Convenor of the Friends of the Bangladesh Liberation Struggle, recently wrote to Nandy saying that though it is forty years late, it is never too late to recognise and honour someone who did so much for their freedom struggle.

The awards ceremony, held only from this year on December 15, is to honour those who participated in the liberation struggle of Bangladesh and helped the nation become free. Pritish Nandy will be attending the event along with his wife Rina. Talking about the honour Nandy says, “‘The birth of Bangladesh was a miracle. Most wars end in stalemate but Indira Gandhi won it decisively and with amazing precision. I was proud to play a role in the making of a new nation, a nation born out of the love for a language and a proud culture: Bengali.” This year marks the 40th anniversary of the formation of Bangladesh.

Nandy, barely entering his twenties then, was one of the most ardent campaigners for a free Bangladesh. He reported first hand on the war for freedom, translated the works of the then little known poets of the Bangladesh movement who are now iconic figures in Bengali literature across the border and got them published from London, Chicago and other parts of the world to bring focus to their war efforts, and was one of the central figures of the movement when he lived in Calcutta in the early seventies.

All the leaders of the freedom struggle were his personal friends, including Sheikh Mujibur Rehman who became the first Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Interestingly, the man who subsequently assassinated him, Major Dalim was also known to Nandy during the freedom struggle days when he came to Calcutta as a young army officer for medical treatment after a serious grenade injury. Nandy was a leading poet then and some of his own poems in the book Madness is the Second Stroke were inspired by the Bangladesh war.

The famous British painter Feliks Topolski collaborated with Pritish Nandy to bring out poems from Bangladesh, a book of poems from London. Nandy is one of Indian poetry’s most celebrated name whose books, record albums and readings have drawn him an iconic following and won him the Padma Shri and the EM Forster Literary Award at an age most people barely begin their literary career.

Nandy launched his production company Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd, in 1998, which has made over 25 films over the past decade including (Kaante, Jhankaar Beats, Chameli, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Shabd, Pyaar Ke Side Effects) now acclaimed as cult movies. His next production, Shaadi Ke Side Effects, starring Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan rolls next year.

While Chikni Chameli from Agneepath was the most downloaded song of the year, its actress Katrina Kaif who continued to maintain the leading position in the category of images downloaded for the 4th consecutive year.

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, recently released the results of the 4th edition of Airtel Mobitude for the year 2012.

This annual survey of customer preferences is the first-of-its-kind in India to capture the ‘mobile attitude’ of 186 million plus customers in the country and point out the India’s very own consumption preferences, likes and dislikes.

Based on research conducted over the preferences of over 186 million mobile customers in India, Wallpaper downloads witnessed a 300% jump from last year ,where downloads of female actresses outnumbered the same recorded for their male counterparts by over 6788% with Katrina Kaif ruling the roost.

Says Katrina Kaif, “It’s a great feeling to know that your fan base shows so much love and support…the fact that it’s the 4th consecutive year makes it that much more special”.

SRK mania storms Morroco

The international Baadshah of Indian cinema the undisputed King of Indian cinema’s overseas market proved once again why he is the darling of the world.. SRK and euphoria are synonymous with each other SRK star power was seen recently at Jemaa el-Fna Square, which is at the medina quarter at Marrakesh, Morocco.

An unprecedented crowd gathered at the square as soon as they got to know that SRK would be walking down the red carpet there for the film festival. More than 50,000 locals gathered there, under heavy security and extreme cold weather, just to get a glimpse of SRK, till the wee hours. SRK got overwhelmed by the sight and left his security at the red carpet just to jump up on the podium and wave at all the people present there.

“I went to Marrakesh Film Festival because of the people there and their constant love I have got in all these years. I went there to tell them that I love them too and I am blessed to receive their love. The sight of that crowd at Jemaa el-Fna was very overwhelming. They waited to cheer me on, how could I not spend a little time with them. That’s the least I could have done,” said SRK. “Shahrukh has been known to give back the love he gets from his fans, in his own way.

When he saw the numbers in which people were gathered there at Jemaa el-Fna in the cold weather he was besieged. The security guys just didn’t realise when he left them and stood on the podium to send flying kisses to all of them. He gets humbled by the love people shower him with,” says a source close to SRK.

The crowd sang You Are My Chammak Challo in chorus and SRK obliged them with the trademark steps of the song. The rest of the stars present for the Marrakesh Film Festival cheered for him and the crowd. Well that’s King Khan for you always ready for his fans.. and we love you too SRK.

Kunal Kapoor gets scripting

There is more to actor Kunal Kapoor who recently received rave reviews for his performance in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana  -Apart from his acting chops, Kunal is also indulging his creative side and is venturing into scripts, a passion so far he kept under wraps.

Ask the actor and he is quick to reply , “I’m not actually writing the script, its more like co- developing it.

On the sets of Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (his last film), I met a lot of like-minded people with whom I shared a lot of ideas, out of which they liked three, One is an action film which is sort of locked in a time period.

The second will be a musical and the third a story about three guys. I’m really looking forward to see these ideas develop and see what happens with them.”

If that wasn’t all, the actor who is a huge F1 and rally aficionado, under the training of a professional coach, will also be competing at the National Rally Championship next year.

Bejoy Nambiar to tweet David trailer

‘I’ is the word…. In this age for innovation and internet, filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar wants to make most out of these two opportunities.

For his upcoming thriller ‘David’ Bejoy is very keen to launch the film’s trailer first through online, instead of going with the normal theatre release.

To keep in tune with the film’s edgy concept and to be innovative, the director will be releasing the trailer on Twitter.

According to Bejoy’s point of view, he wants to target the youth, who are mostly hooked on the web world these days. And what’s better way to promote one’s film other than launching its first promo online…. According to sources, the first look of ‘David’ was supposed to have been released alongside ‘Khiladi 786’ release last week or with ‘Dabangg 2’ on 21 Dec.

But then the ‘Shaitaan’ famed helmer sought to take the internet way as he believes his core audience is the youngsters. “David is a novel, edgy film, so he wants it to be very innovative with the marketing. He will release the trailer of the film online and not in theatres,” quoted some sources.

Starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vikram, Tabu, Lara Dutta and Isha Shervani, ‘David’ deals with three different time frames with three different individuals who are having same name, David. While the first look will be releasing on 14th December, the film will hit the theatres in February 2013.
