Actor Priyanka Chopra had recently been to the 12th international Marrakech film festival received a very special sweet surprise! As she turned around to interact with her fans, she was extremely touch with the gesture.

Several of her fans got her some home made barfi while many other arranged it to be sent from India. Source close to her says “It is not a local sweet, so Priyanka was very moved to see the lengths that her fans had gone for her.

A lot of them had actually got the recipe online and prepared it specially for her at home,” “Priyanka reportedly told them that the barfi has added more sweetness to her already sweet memories of the place,” adds the source. But that’s not it, PC ever since she has worked in Barfi, she has been getting boxed of  barfi for every occasion.

“No matter where she goes, she is being treated to the sweet and she very sportingly puts aside her diet concerns and indulges in the treats,” says the insider.

What’s even more interesting is that the boxes are all addressed to Jhilmil Chopra! “During Diwali, even though she wasn’t around, most of her fans had sent in boxes of barfi addressed to Jhilmil Chopra,” adds the insider. The actress has received several accolades from her fans and the industry for her performance.

“Her performance in the film has been one of the high points for PC this year. And this has been acknowledged not only by Anurag, but also by several other filmmakers, more so as it was not a author-backed role and was more of a Ranbir Kapoor film than Priyanka’s. However, she has been able to stand on her own,” say trade analysts

Shahid Kapoor is currently shooting for Phata Poster Nikla Hero.

The young actor is very focused on his work and is putting his best foot forward. Shahid spends most of his time on sets and even after pack up, he sits back with crew members to go over the technicalities of his next schedules.

Phata Poster Nikla Hero is essentially shot in different parts of Mumbai. Last week, Shahid had to shoot an intense scene, in a crowded market area source “Even though the film makers managed to get permission from the authorities, the crowd was extremely difficult to handle and execution was becoming a hassle.

In addition to that the streets were narrow and there was no place to park a vanity van” When Shahid was informed of the issue, he asked the production not to fret and make any temporary arrangements. The production managed to get a nearby Udipi restaurant to close shutters and make it a changing room.

Shahid offered to travel to the location nearby on a bike. Instead of throwing tantrums on the non-availability of a van, Shahid simply had the eating joint’s shutters pulled down while he changed,” says the source.

“But the moment the restaurant’s shutters opened, and they saw Shahid step out, the crowds simply multiplied and soon the entire area was buzzing with excitement.

We were worried because Shahid’s scene was an intense, emotionally charged one and with the distractions around, we were prepared to shoot for at least eight to ten hours,” adds the insider. But Shahid surprised them when despite the commotion around, he managed to deliver all his scenes in a single take.

“Santoshi is a stickler for perfection, and Shahid himself is very critical about his work. The shot was a long one and needed a degree of expertise to deliver the perfect emotion. But he gave a perfect shot in one take. And he kept doing that with every shot, so what was actually to take eight hours, was wrapped up in two hours’ time.

The crew was amazed at his focus and preparation and unanimously stood up to give him a standing ovation. In fact, he even got an ovation from the crowds, who had actually quitened down as they were engrossed in watching Shahid perform,” says the crew member.

It was always a given that a film like ‘Cigarette Ki Tarah’ would struggle to even get a good release for itself.

This is what happened as major multiplexes stayed away from the film and even at single screens it didn’t get a good release. Worse, the film wasn’t even reviewed by most and those who did thrashed it completely.

A no-show by all means with nothing redeeming whatsoever to take home, the film has proven to be a non-starter at the box office with practically negligible collections.

Ditto for ‘Myoho’ that arrived unannounced and made one wonder what it was all about at the title stage itself. It got better reviews than ‘Cigarette Ki Tarah’ but poor release and zero buzz meant that it too couldn’t rise to the occasion.

‘The Last Act’, a concept film by Anurag Kashyap, hardly saw any good screenings for itself which means despite good reviews, there wasn’t much going for it. It may just hang on for a week but with no promotion whatsoever and post-release buzz missing as well, there are slim chances for it to bring in any moolah.

Meanwhile ‘Khiladi 786’ and ‘Talaash’ continued to enjoy an extended run and managed to strengthen their box office standing at single screens and multiplexes respectively. Absence of any competition as well as belonging to entirely contrasting genres has helped both films as they are not eating into each other’s business.

Also, their overall verdict would now be far better than what it had seemed immediately after their release. While ‘Khiladi 786’ may just manage to touch the 75 crore mark, ‘Talaash’ now has an outside chance to cross the 92 crore total of Excel’s ‘Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara’.

This year we saw several B-town reel hotties turning their energies towards real life responsibilities. Like in films, these actresses looked all the more beautiful by taking up the motherly roles in personal front. Let’s take a look here as to which yummy mummy took the limelight in 2012 –

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – of course she tops the list even though she became mom last November. She garnered much attention than her movies for her post-pregnancy weight gain and being over-protective over Aaradhya.

Lara Dutta – Mahesh Bhupati and the former Miss Universe were blessed with a baby girl, Saira, in January.

Celina Jaitely – After getting married to Australian businessman Peter Haag last year, Celina became mom of two twins – Viraaj and Winston – this March.

Shilpa Shetty – The B-town ‘Goriya’ gave birth to baby boy, Vivaan in May.

Amrita Arora – She became mom for second time; again a boy this time in October. She grabbed limelight for attending Saifeena’s marriage in spite of being heavily pregnant then.

Shah Rukh Khan on Thursday evening attended his friend and the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohammad’s birthday and he was also awarded the prestigious BrandLaureate Legendary Award.

The superstar was given this honour by the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation for his contributions to the Bollywood film industry and as India’s foremost brand ambassador.

Shah Rukh was humbled by the honour given to him by Founder of Lord’s Tailor Mr Robert Loh, President of The BrandLaureate Dr KK Johan, and Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohammad.

“It is an honour to be given the Brandlaureate Legendary Award. It is always a pleasure to be amongst friends and to be given so much love and motivation to do better,” said Shah Rukh.

The BrandLaureate Legendary Award has been earlier given to the likes of Dr Nelson Mandela, Nobel Laureate recipient Mohammad Yunus, Ratan Tata, late Steve Jobs, Marck Zuckerburg, Michael Schumacher and more.

In 2008 Shah Rukh had become the first Indian actor to be conferred with the prestigious Malaysian title of Datuk (equivalent of the British Knighthood) by the governor of Malaysia’s southern state of Malacca for promoting tourism through his movies in that region.

Earlier this year, Shah Rukh became the first Indian film industry’s personality to be honoured with the prestigious Chubb fellowship at Yale University and very recently he was honoured with L?toile d’Or by Mohammaed VI, the King of Morocco during 12th International Film Festival of Marrakech twice in a row.

‘Kick’ is in news and with Salman Khan too announcing that it would be the second film he would begin working once he is through shooting for the Sohail Khan affair, there is a definite sense of urgency amongst the makers to get the groundwork in place in quick time.

For starters, the film’s screenplay is being tightened in a big way so that the Hindi version turns out to be much more universally appealing when compared to the Telugu original.

This isn’t all as Salman is in constant know how of the film’s progress and is giving more than just a glace or two to the material which is being put together.

“For someone like Salman who has given four back to back 100 crore superhits and is all set for another with ‘Dabangg 2’ before ‘Kick’ goes on floor, everything needs to be accounted for in a major way before a single word is put on paper for his next”, says an insider close to Sajid Nadiadwala who is producing as well as directing the film.

While Chetan Bhagat is re-writing the film’s screenplay, Sajid is making sure that technically too the film is top notch and the locations that come on screen are not just lavish but also un-seen.

As for the action sequences, they are expected to be trend setter and notches above the kind seen in ‘Dhoom’ series or for that matter Salman’s own ‘Ek Tha Tiger’.

Says a source, “Still, everyone is making sure that while audience get to see the Salman that they love, they make something fresh as well. They have seen Salman do things but then they also want freshness. That’s the kind of ‘kick’ they need. Pun intended!”
