Anushka Sharma turns producer with ‘NH10’

Actress Anushka Sharma, who has featured in films like “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”, “Band Baaja Baaraat” and “Jab Tak Hain Jaan”, is now set to try her hands as a producer for her film, “NH10”

The actress, who will also play the lead role in the film, is co-producing it with production house Phantom.

Anushka Sharma

“I’m thrilled to get a chance to do this so early on in my career. And I couldn’t have found a better project than ‘NH10’ to kick-start this new phase in my film journey,” Anushka said in a statement.

The film will be directed by Navdeep Singh post his critically acclaimed debut “Manorama Six Feet Under”.

“NH10” is an action thriller about a road trip gone wrong.

Anushka, who recently worked with Phantom for her forthcoming project “Bombay Velvet”, is looking forward to work with the production house again.

“This is my second film after ‘Bombay Velvet’ with Phantom, and it’s a blast working with them. It’s going to be super-exciting working together again on what promises to be an explosive film,” said Anushka, who will also be seen with Aamir Khan in Rajkumar Hirani’s “Peekay”.

The 25-year-old follows in the footsteps of actor Ranbir Kapoor who will be co-producing “Bombay Velvet”.

Being shot this winter across the northern plains around Delhi, “NH 10” will release Sep 12 next year.

“Salman has had a flourishing career by making his own desisions,” Arbaaz said at an event.

Arbaaz KhanArbaaz Khan

Arbaaz says it’s not wise to pinpoint the failures in one’s career.

“Normally, most decisions you take may be right, but sometimes, you take the decisions that fail, like in between you do the films that don’t work. But that doesn’t matter! The average matters.”

“Like in cricket, you have the average (score). So, same way in films, if you have done 10 films, (it matters depending) how many of them have been liked by the audiences, and have been successful,” he added.

Talking about Salman’s career in specific, the 45-year-old said, “If you see Salman’s career graph, you will see that most of his films have worked, done well and that’s why he is at this position today.”

Salman made his debut in 1988 with the film ‘Biwi Ho To Aisi’, but as the main lead his first film was “Maine Pyar Kiya” in 1989. He gave commercial hits like ‘Saajan’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’, ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Judwaa’, ‘Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya’, ‘Biwi No.1’ and ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’.

In recent hits, he cemented his position with five back-to-back blockbusters – ‘Dabangg’, ‘Ready’, ‘Bodyguard’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Dabangg 2’.

But Salman never turns to his brother for advice.

“Neither do I need to give advice to him nor he wants it realistically. He has now developed a kind of sense and judgement… in which image, which films and which people he has to work,” he added.

My mother is my biggest critic: Sonakshi Sinha

Actress Sonakshi Sinha, who has earned rave reviews for her performance in her films, says mother Poonam Sinha is her biggest critic

‘My mum is my biggest critic and I take her opinion very seriously because I know that is one person, who is saying it only for my good and nobody else,’ Sonakshi told reporters in a group interview. ‘If I could have done it much better or if the outfit is not looking good, she will tell me then and there itself. The best part is she is so honest about it. My father thinks everything I do is good only,’ she added.

Asked if she takes her family opinion before signing any film, Sonakshi said: ‘I consult my whole family before signing a film because they have been in the industry for long, so it’s the logical thing to do.’ ‘My mum sometimes sits with me also for the narration, my dad (Shatrughan Sinha) is not always there so I give him a gist of the narration. Till now, my brothers (Luv and Kush) have not criticised me and are very proud,’ said the 25-year-old. Sonakshi is currently busy promoting her forthcoming film ‘Dabangg 2’ with Salman Khan, and is directed by Arbaaz Khan. It will release Friday.

The film, which will hit theatres on December 21, is the sequel to ‘Dabangg’ with Salman and Sonakshi reprising their characters of Chulbul Pandey and Rajjo respectively while Prakash Raj is the main antagonist.

Arbaaz Khan

‘You would see a lot of style coming along with the action and it would be in the kind of space that Chulbul Pandey as a character and ‘Dabangg’ as a brand stand for. ‘Having said that, while action is an integral part of the film, it would be not more than what is necessary. There is a story running behind all the action.

You just can’t have action and more of action. None of it would hold if there is no emotion behind it; for that you need to have a story in a scene or a sequence,’ Arbaaz told PTI. The sequel has a sizzling item number ‘Fevicol Se’ by actress Kareena Kapoor and other numbers are also topping the charts.

Music-composer duo Sajid-Wajid have been roped in this time too for the compositions. ‘There are five songs in the movie and while the music of ‘Dabangg’ was outstanding, Sajid-Wajid have gone ahead and churned out something even better; I genuinely believe that.

The composers have done a fabulous job,’ Arbaaz said. He is happy that the film has created quite a buzz before its release. ‘I had to be conscious about the fact that the brand and the character stood for their true worth in the sequel and had something good to offer as well. I wanted to put the film in a very interesting way and give entertainment along with it. I could never lose sight of the entertainment quotient since that’s the most important aspect here,’ he said.

‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ will always be a special film for me. I will always be thankful to Yash-ji. I get really excited with awards. No matter how many I have got, they have the same affect on me, like they did when I was new in the industry. I almost become like a kid in the candy store,’ said Shah Rukh.
