DJ-music producer Udyan Sagar, popularly known as Nucleya, says that Indian DJs are not taken seriously and not given equal respect as that given to a singer in the Indian music scenario — but things are changing. Nucleya is going to judge a digital musical show titled “The Remix” on Amazon Prime Video. He will co-judge along with singer Sunidhi Chauhan and composer Amit Trivedi.

This is the first time that a DJ will be seen on the judging panel of a show.

Asked how positive this change is, Nucleya told IANS: “I think this is the first time where a music producer, instrumentalist, arranger — people behind the song are getting equal respect as that of a singer. That is really encouraging.”

“Yes, it is true that DJs are not taken seriously and not given equal respect as that of a singer in the Indian music scenario but I know many youngsters and aspiring DJs who count me as their inspiration. And the fact is, if I can reach big stages to perform, if they (budding Indian DJs) are good, they also can make it big.”

Nucleya started his music career towards the end of 1990s when he co-founded the musical act Bandish Projekt. Then he went solo and made albums like “Pragat Pritam”, “Horn OK Please”, “Koocha Monster” and “Bass Rani”.

He has also collaborated with artistes like rapper Badshah, singers Shruti Pathak, Benny Dayal and more.

“I think unless I am collaborating enough with other musicians, my musical vocabulary will remain limited and I will not grow as an artiste. So when I collaborate with various musicians, I learn from them, and understand my potential …I learn to experiment,” said the artist whose song “Paintra” from the film “Mukkabaaz” was received well.

What is the advice that he would want to give to budding DJs and music producers?

“Maintaining a brand is important and one has to prioritise what he or she wants to do as a DJ. For instance, I do not play at wedding parties and such places because after drinking a few pegs, people would say what they want to. They would ask you to play songs of their choice and say whatever. In the early days of my career, I played some of them and I felt disrespectful,” shared Nucleya.

“Playing at various parties and weddings will surely give you a lot of money but is that something you want to gain as an artiste? The career of a musician is surely not that, for me. So, I would suggest all the budding musicians to work hard, find your signature as a musician and establish your brand well.”

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh calls himself “a big trash talker” and says that he has no control over it. Ranveer was speaking at an event on Friday here where Premier League announced him as their brand ambassador in India. The film star said there is much banter among Bollywood actors when it comes to watching football matches. “There is banter for sure. Banter is one of my favourite things. I am a big trash talker and sometimes even in formal sort of engagements, I am not able to control my verbal diarrhea.

“Abhishek Bachchan and Arjun Kapoor are both big Chelsea fans… so, we go back and forth bantering each other,” Ranveer said. Talking about his stint as the brand ambassador of the Premiere League in India, Ranveer said: “It is a matter of great honour and huge privilege. I genuinely believe this is the best league in the world.” He said he has been into the Premiere League for 17-18 years and with his appointment as its brand ambassador, he understands his role in growth and development of sports culture in India.

“I thoroughly enjoy it as I get to watch matches, to be part of these wonderful initiatives and to meet football legends… so it is a real treat and surreal. My Twitter bio says ‘Living The Dream’ and it feels exactly like that,” Ranveer said. Talking about his last released film “Padmaavat”, Ranveer said: “It’s doing something I had never imagined. It’s one of those rare films that sort of encompasses everything, be it critical acclaim, commercial success or love of the audience.”

He said that “Padmaavat” is one of those “rare movies” that can be remembered 10-15 years down the line and people will still appreciate it then because of its timeless quality. Ranveer has an interesting line-up of films which includes Zoya Akhtar’s “Gully Boy”, Rohit Shetty’s “Simmba” and Kabir Khan’s “83”.

Actress Mansi Multani, who is playing Kalapori in Anushka Sharma’s forthcoming horror film Pari, says it took a lot of time to change into the “Black clad Devil’s angel” but she thoroughly enjoyed being the face of fear. “It took a good amount of time to change into Kalapori. It needed two hours of make-up every time. But the hours of sitting ramrod straight to achieve the look was totally worth the feedback we are getting. I never thought I would say this, but I thoroughly enjoyed being the face of fear,” Mansi said in a statement.

Award-winning British make-up artist Clover Wootton, who has been working on Anushka’s look in the film, faced the biggest challenge to make the face of fear tangible.

“While creating Anushka’s look was challenging, what was even tougher was to create Kalapori. We had already established that we were going to need heavy prosthetics. It was hardest for me to create something like that in a really short time and without any real reference,” said Wootton.

“How does one know for sure that you have decoded the look for this character with rotting flesh — creepy and yet human! Now having seen final cuts of the film, I can heave a sigh of relief. It’s looking scary even to me,” added the artist. Pari, produced by Clean Slate Films, is presented by KriArj Entertainment and Kyta Productions. It will be released worldwide by Pooja Films on March 2.

Soha Ali Khan took to her Instagram account to share one of the cutest pictures ever! She shared a photo of herself holding daughter Inaaya Naumi Kemmu and Kareena Kapoor with her son Taimur Ali Khan. In the photo shared, Inaaya is seen wearing a blue little frock with a neat ponytail, the princess more or less twinned with her aunt Kareena, who is seen wearing a kaftan kurta of the same yellow and blue colour. While Soha sported an all-black attire, Nawab Taimur Ali Khan was at his casual best in a grey tee and royal blue pant.

It’s adorable to see how momma Kareena Kapoor is concerned with Taimur Ali Khan holding his tee in his mouth. Soha also shared another thoughtful picture of these almost twin cousins – Inaaya and Taimur are seen carpooling. Social media is going bonkers over these photos and are commenting things such as, “Gorgeous siblings..God bless”, “Omg m dying heaven”, “Cuteness overloaded” and many such heartfelt comments were flooded on these pictures.

A few days ago Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu’s adorable daughter, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu was spotted at Bandra with momma and it had left Twiterratis confused. Inaaya is growing up to be a spitting image of Taimur Ali Khan and shares an uncanny resemblance to him. She is undoubtedly social media’s new crush, has a striking resemblance to her cousin Taimur. With Taimur already a sensation on the net, Inaaya is on her way to becoming one.

Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu were blessed with their first child, daughter Inaaya, on September 29. The Golmaal Again actor had issued a statement to share the news with his fans. “We are over the moon thrilled and delighted to share that we have been blessed with a beautiful baby girl on this very auspicious day. Soha and our gorgeous baby are doing well. We thank you for your kind wishes, love, and blessings,” Kunal Kemmu had said in a statement.

Soha Ali Khan had been advocating prenatal yoga. She shared photos on her Instagram and showed how to stay fit during the nine months of pregnancy. Like her sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan, Soha Ali Khan was up and about during her pregnancy. She endorsed products related to pregnancy like oils to keep stretch marks away and mineral water which is beneficial during the nine months. Unlike several Bollywood women who go missing as soon as they realise they are in the family way, Soha, like Bebo, did not shy away from shutterbugs.

The actress recently turned author with her debut book, ‘The Perils of Being Moderately Famous’, which is a collection of humorous and bizarre stories on her life as a royal princess and a moderately famous celebrity, as she likes to call herself.

If the grapevine is to be believed, the Padmaavat success bash slated for tonight stands cancelled. It was to be held aboard a floating restaurant, off Bandra Reclamation. Buzz is that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali expressed his unavailability citing seasickness. So the makers decided to postpone it to a later date on terra firma. Strange that Bhansali did not inform them when they were planning the party. It’s also the filmmaker’s birthday today. It would have been a double celebration.

Reality TV star Kylie Jenner, who is active on all social media platforms, called photo-sharing app Snapchat “sad”, which caused a loss of USD 1.3 billion in market value to the company

Reality TV star Kylie Jenner, who is active on all social media platforms, called photo-sharing app Snapchat “sad”, which caused a loss of USD 1.3 billion in market value to the company. “So does anyone else not open Snapchat anymore? Or is it just me… ugh this is so sad,” Kylie tweeted on Thursday. Kylie’s tweet sent shares of Snap Inc. down more than six per cent after she tweeted disapproval of the redesign of the company’s video messaging app Snapchat, reports latimes.com.

She followed it up with “still love you tho snap … my first love”, but the damage may already have been done. The redesign was supposed to make Snapchat more approachable to new users, but it’s been the subject of a backlash from its existing audience, highlighted by a change.org petition with over 1.2 million signatories. “With the release of the new Snapchat update, many users have found that it has not made the app easier to use, but has in fact made many features more difficult,” read the petition, which was started by a user named Nic Rumsey.

The redesign separates Snapchat into three parts — friends, the camera and photo-related features — and the Discover tab, which consists of curated and sponsored content, publishers and influencers. One of the chief complaints about the new design was that celebrities were removed from the tab where friends are found and placed instead in the Discover tab.

“Snap is doing the right strategic moves but needs to manage this process well as celebrity influencers like Kylie Jenner are a key ingredient in the company’s recipe for success,” Daniel Ives, an analyst for GBH Insights.

“The app redesign was a necessary step for Spiegel (Snapchat creator Evan Spiegel) and team to expand the demographics and monetisation footprint of the platform, but the core user base must be managed through this transition, and Kylie Jenner is not helping things,” added Ives.

Having delivered two hits – Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2 (both 2017) – in a year that otherwise witnessed a drought at the box office, it was reported that Varun Dhawan had hiked his fee. But in an interesting development, mid-day has learnt that the actor apparently slashed his remuneration for Shoojit Sircar’s October.

Shoojit Sircar

A source close to Varun Dhawan says, “When Shoojit approached him with the script, he made it clear that it would be another small-budget film, along the lines of what he is known to make. Varun was quite taken by the story and knew that he had to be a part of the project. He readily agreed to cut down his fee for the director.” While many actors opt for a lower remuneration and hold a stake in the film’s profits, the source adds that Dhawan decided to forego the option.

Another trade insider reveals that although Dhawan had indeed hiked his fee to a whopping Rs 25 crore after the success of Judwaa 2, he did not want to burden the Banita Sandhu-starrer with his market price. The trade insider says, “If you see his filmography, he has consciously mixed the masala fare with films like Badlapur (2015) and now, October. Varun understood that October needs to be made on the right budget to be viable and recover its cost. Since the film was envisioned on a budget of R20 crore, he slashed his fee by more than 50 per cent.”

The poster of Aamir Khan Productions’ Delhi Belly had Shenaz Treasurywala covering her face with a paper bag as she gets held in the case of diamonds. He may be one of the biggest stars in India, but Salman Khan says it was not an easy journey to stardom for him, courtesy his professional highs and lows and legal woes

Salman Khan

He may be one of the biggest stars in India, but Salman Khan says it was not an easy journey to stardom for him, courtesy his professional highs and lows and legal woes. The 52-year-old actor believes there have been breaking points in his life, but the nature of his job does not allow him to share his vulnerable side with the world.

“My profession is such that I have to look good, dress up, do stylised action sequences and romance. Articles come on my affairs, me working with beautiful heroines and then suddenly a court date comes up… People see me on ‘Bigg Boss’ in which I am laughing and joking. “So, people think I don’t give a damn about things. That is the most difficult part about our journey as actors. No matter what you are going through at your home or in your personal life, you can’t have sub-titles there. You have to be that character, no matter what you are going through,” Salman said at the Global TiE Summit.

The actor said being a star has a lot repercussions as he does not have the “luxury of being depressed or sad”. “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me,” he said. Recalling his initial days in the film industry, Salman revealed his aim as a new actor was to give an equally bigger hit as Aamir Khan’s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

“The journey I began with ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, not knowing if I would make it, and that time it was difficult because there was another actor, who had started his career and he had given a big hit. That kid’s name was Aamir Khan. “He was from the same locality. I thought that he made it and if I didn’t make it, the whole Bandra will start laughing at me. So, my concern was only Bandra- Pali Hill and the friends’ circle, which just had four-five people,” Salman said.
