Deepika Padukone is the only Indian actress to feature in the Time 100 Influential People in the World, sharing space with names like Nicole Kidman, Gal Gadot, Greta Gerwig and Lena Waithe. In the Time magazine, international star Vin Diesel, Deepika’s co-star in her Hollywood debut xXx: Return of Xander Cage has penned words of appreciation for her.

“Making that movie, Deepika took committed to a whole other level. That’s who she is as a performer. She wants the whole movie to shine, which is a rare thing. “Anyone could talk about how beautiful she is, and anyone could tell you about her unmatched comedic timing. But she isn’t just a star. She’s an actor’s actor, dedicated to the craft,” Diesel wrote.

Harish Vyas, director of Pankaj Tripathi-starrer Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain, says the film depicts how romance is not just for the youth. The first look of the film, which also features Sanjay Mishra, Anshuman Jha, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Brijendra Kala and Ekavali Khanna, was released by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) on Thursday.

Scheduled to release on May 18, Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain is set in Varanasi and boasts of real-life characters and situations one can relate to, especially for those who are or have ever been in love, read a statement.

“It’s a romantic film. I wanted to address this side of romance that is subdued and wrapped in the fine nuances of the daily grind. Romance in India is usually depicted through the youth but it’s not limited to them. In this case, it is depicted by the younger couple like always, but is instrumental in vocalising the unexpressed love in all generations other than ‘the young’,” said Vyas.

“Sanjayji was the only person I had in mind to play this character for the kind of value he has brought to the character of Yashwant Batra,” he added. Presented by NFDC and produced by Manav Malhotra of Drumroll Pictures in association with Bunty Khan’s Shiny Entertainment, the film shows the lives of three ordinary couples who have very distinct views on what love stands for.

Vyas has also written the screenplay and co-penned the film’s dialogues with Aryan Saha. “Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain” has also won awards for Best Feature Film and Best Director at the Five Continents International Film Festival 2017, Venezuela. The film’s music is composed by Praveen Kuwar, Oni-Adil and Ranjan Sharma, with lyrics by Yogesh Gaur.

Deadpool 2 helmer David Leitch has been roped in to direct The Division starring Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal. “Gold” director Stephen Gaghan was previously attached to helm the video game adaptation, but has since left the project, reported Variety. Based on the best-selling video game, the story is set in a near future where a pandemic virus is spread through a paper money on Black Friday, decimating New York City and killing millions. By Christmas, what is left of society has descended into chaos. A group of civilians, trained to operate in catastrophic times, is activated in an attempt to save who and what remains.

The news comes few months after it was announced that Leitch was also on board to direct the “Fast and Furious” spin-off starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. According to the sources, the Universal spin-off will shoot first, as that film is already set to go into production this year, and Leitch would move on to prepare for “The Division” some time in 2019.

Leitch and producing partner, Kelly McCormick, will produce the project through their 8711 banner. Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker of Nine Stories and Chastain and Kelly Carmichael of Freckle Films alongside Ubisoft Motion Pictures will also serve as producers.

Pakistani singer accuses Ali Zafar of sexual abuse, actor to take legal action

After the #MeToo movement in Hollywood, which was about actors voicing their unfortunate story of sexual exploitation in the world of showbiz. The movement took momentum and has spread to other parts of the film industry: for instance, the ongoing protest by Telugu actress Sri Reddy against the existing couch in Tollywood. Another artist, who has spoken up on the issue is Pakistani singer-actor Meesha Shafi. The singer has accused actor Ali Zafar of sexually exploiting her.

However, the actor has issued a statement in which he has said that he will take this case through the court of law.

She had taken to her Twitter account to write down her horrific experience with her industry colleague, Ali Zafar. Safi mentioned that her conscience won’t let her live peacefully if she kept quiet about incidents where she was subjected to “sexual harassment of physical nature.”

Meesha Safi also wrote, “Sharing this because I believe that by speaking out about my own experience of sexual harassment, I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society. It is not easy to speak out.. but it is harder to stay silent. My conscience will not allow it anymore #MeToo (sic).”

Here is a picture of the note written by the singer-actor, wherein, she had written that this incident did not happen to her when she was new to the industry. She wrote, “This happened to me despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman, who is known for speaking her mind!! This happened to me as a mother of two children.”

High Jack yet to be reviewed by CBFC, will get new release date

Owing to the procedural delay in attaining Censor Certificate, High Jack’s release is now postponed, with the makers scouting for a new release date

The release of Phantom Films’ next, India’s first stoner comedy film has been stayed by the Censor Board of Film Certification as the film has been sent to the revision committee.

High Jack was set to hit theatres on April 20, a date that marks to be World Stoner Day and was scheduled by the makers in context to the stoner theme of the film.

However, owing to procedural delay in attaining Censor Certificate, High Jack’s release is now postponed, with the makers scouting for a new release date.

Phantom Films spokesperson says, “High Jack won’t be making it to cinemas tomorrow as it has been referred by the CBFC to the revision committee. There is a procedural time involved for the process, and we will hopefully announce a new release date soon.”

The film revolves around a bunch of first-time hijackers, trying to hijack a plane. The first-timers along with the passengers accidentally get high, which results in a series of very funny, whacky series of events.

Later the film showcases the aftermath of what happens when passengers get stoned on the flight which further leads into a series of madcap adventures.

The trailer of the film showcases some madcap scenes and a unique concept, all happening in the sky has garnered love and appreciation from across the quarters.

The film stars an ensemble cast featuring Sumeet Vyas, Sonnalli Sehgal, Mantra, Sarthak Kakar, Kumud Mishra, Radhika Bangia, Priyanshu Painyuli and Adhaar Khurana.

Produced by Phantom films in association with Viu, High Jack is directed by Akarsh Khurana.

Lauded for his performance in his debut, Mirzya, Harshvardhan Kapoor has been in news for the tremendous amount of prep work he put in for his upcoming projects, one of them being Vikramaditya Motwane’s, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero.

Recently caught in the grip of fever and a throat infection, Harshvardhan Kapoor learned that he was required to shoot a few portions for the highly anticipated vigilante drama. However, adamant to not cancel on the shoot, the dedicated actor did not want his ill health to interfere with the forthcoming film.

A source informed about it and said, “Harshvardhan means to give his all to this film. Even with the sudden nature of his illness, he wanted no special adjustments to be made for him. He was on a dose of heavy antibiotics but has reached on the sets of his next.”

The teaser of the film was released a few days ago and has been received well. Titled ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’, the film will feature Harshvardhan donning a mask and playing a superhero to people. Whether he will possess some superpowers or not is yet to be determined.

Helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the film will have some intense action sequences and hand-combat scenes. The film revolves around a young man’s quest for revenge and the discovery that he is destined for much bigger things.

The film releases on May 25, 2018.

On an early Saturday morning, a Telugu artist and an aspiring actress, who has been speaking about the existing ‘casting couch’ in the Telugu film industry resorted to stripping naked and staged a protest for not getting any work in Telugu film industry. She did this act in front of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce.

The incident took place in Film Nagar, where the artist removed her clothes and complained of not getting chances in the industry and women being exploited in Tollywood.

Following the incidence, Banjarahills police reached the spot and urged the artist to file a formal complaint. Reddy refused and continued her protest.

The artist’s antics had gathered a huge crowd following which she was asked to move from the spot.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Banjarahills, KS Rao said, “After actress Sri Reddy stripped her clothes and protested, we reached the spot because of the nuisance that was created. We are going to take legal action against her.”

The controversial artist was in news earlier for alleging sexual exploitation in Tollywood and having controversial arguments on TV debates about “whores” and “brokers” in the film industry.

Preeti Simoes on Kapil Sharma's complaint: I think he's suicidal

After Kapil Sharma filed a police complaint against his previous show’s producer and rumoured girlfriend Preeti Simoes, the latter has spoken her heart out on this topic in an interview to an entertainment portal

Kapil Sharma has been on an abusive Twitter rant since April 6, Friday. The comedian is seemingly disappointed and affected by the poor ratings of his new show and it being all out there for public consumption through media. He abused a senior journalist on Twitter and also spoke in an offensive language over the phone, following which, the journalist shared that call recording on social media. This got Kapil fuming with anger and he lodged a complaint against the journalist and his previous show, The Kapil Sharma Show’s producers, Preeti and Neeti Simoes. He has accused them of extorting Rs 25 lacs from him and in a bid of failing to fulfill the requirement; he has allegedly accused them of tarnishing their image on digital media.

Preet Simoes is rumoured to have been dating the comedian. In an interview to ibtimes, Preeti Simoes said that she is concerned for his deteriorating health. She also said that Kapil Sharma has confessed of being into depression, which his family is unable to understand and is constantly imposing pressure on him to settle down.

Talking of their relationship she said, “I was with Kapil for 8 years of my life. I think it was the most beautiful and glorious years of my life. Together we grew and achieved a lot and then some decisions were taken last year and everyone went their separate ways.

“Through the one year that I haven’t been with Kapil, and clearly, he has been with other people, his mental health has deteriorated very badly. I was wanting to speak about Kapil Sharma a couple of days back but Neeti stopped me. I was in touch with him on and off. He has reached out to Neeti, he has reached out to me many times on his normal days, wherein he has clearly said that he is going through a lot of mental pressure. He has told me that he is suffering from depression because of the decisions he has taken in his life and that he has not been able to deal with it.”

When Preeti was asked if she would hit back at Kapil for lodging a complaint against her, she instead empathised at his state and said, “No, I am feeling sorry. I am only urging his family as he is unapproachable to anyone, anymore. They block calls, they do everything in their capacity to ensure he doesn’t talk to any one of us. So I request to his family – we are not going to malign him, we are not going to indulge in anything. What do I say to this notice? This is a serious accusation. What do I reply to this notice?”

She even informed that Kapil Sharma‘s current girlfriend Ginni Chatrath, his set of friends and family are not helping him out.

Giving some more insights about his state of mind, she added, “If he is canceling shoots and ten journalists are writing about it, it is because he is canceling shoots. Shoot cancelation is not like canceling a meeting at home. There are two hundred people on the set. Then how can you blame one particular person that he leaked the news? Your own Sony channel sends apology messages to all the journalists saying sorry, due to technical errors, we can’t shoot, that’s what it is right. What other personal information are you talking about that has come out.

“What other personal information are you talking about that has come out. How are you suddenly talking about Salman Khan? How are you talking to journalists about hanging them? If Sunil Grover is telling that he didn’t call him on his show, why are you attacking him on Twitter? Did you call him for your show? You didn’t. You didn’t call any one of us. We all reached out to him. When his film didn’t do well, we all reached out to him saying we will come down, let’s work together.”

When asked if he’s trying to get back to her, she asserted, “No. I think he is suicidal and I am scared for him. I don’t know about coming back or not coming back. I think that he needs his family to take care of him and put him in the hands of experts who handle such cases because clearly is not in his right senses and after hearing his conversation with a senior journalist, also involving his friend it shows he is around the people that don’t know how to take care of him.

Because, I have dealt with the worst situation of my life when he tweeted to Modi and how we handled it is a case study of how his friends should be handling him right now. He is clearly not happy in his life. He is mentally completely unstable because he is hallucinating and they should actually take him to a doctor rather than making it a tamasha on Twitter. Is this a sane person’s conversation? Whatever he was doing on twitter yesterday? If the legal notice, if it comes to me, I am not going to react to it. He has just put a photo on Twitter. I really want to tell his mother that her son is suffering. At least, he should get the help he requires now, or else they will lose him.”

While there were reports of Kapil going to a rehabilitation centre for his mind and health’s well-being, Simoes said that it wasn’t a rehab that he go to. “That wasn’t a rehab. It was some ayurvedic center in Bangalore. They just gave him massages. How will it help? Who did he go with? His friends and that girl. The people that he wants to run away from, if he goes with them only, how will it help? If you take your problems with you, how will it help you?”

In a series of offensive tweets on Friday, comedian Kapil Sharma hurled abuses at an entertainment portal’s editor, the media, and the system. Reportedly, the comedian is taken aback with the news of his show, Family Time with Kapil Sharma going off air due to its poor ratings. Kapil picked up a story of his show going off air from that particular entertainment site and chose to rant about it on Twitter using all possible cuss words.

After a telephonic conversation with the editor, wherein, Kapil Sharma was at his aggressive best, was made public by the entertainment editor. Following which, the comedian lodged a complaint against him and his rumoured ex-girlfriend, Preeti Simoes and Neeti Simoes alleging extortion. According to an ANI tweet, Kapil has accused them of trying to extort Rs 25 lacs from him. He further says that the editor has a malicious propaganda to malign his image on digital media after he refused to pay him the amount.

Kapil also tweeted the copy of the police complaint filed by him and wrote, “Some people just want to defame you for few bucks, but it will take ages to take a stand against the wrong …I shall do it today n forever (sic).”

The written complaint had allegations of harassment made by the editor on Preeti and Neeti’s persistence. It further read that due to negative posts shared by the entertainment portal, Kapil’s mental health started affecting as his professional, personal and financial matters were made public. Yesterday, Kapil Sharma started his day on Twitter defending Bollywood superstar Salman Khan but it soon turned into an ugly, full-blown abusive rant.

His tirade on Twitter involved abusive engagements with Twitteratis, where he blamed the “system” and accused the “paid media” for spreading negativity about Salman, who was yesterday sentenced to five years in jail in the blackbuck poaching case.

He let out a barrage of tweets in favour of Salman Khan. He wrote, “I don’t know if he did it or not but see his best sides… ghatiya system. A request to media… please don’t make it negative news just to sell your paper… if I were the Prime Minister, I would hang the creators of fake news (sic).” Later, the tweets, which were laden with expletives, went missing. Kapil claimed his account had been hacked. Whatever the reason, reading the tweets was not exactly Family Time With Kapil.

“Maine bohat saare aise maharaja type dekhe hai jo bade fakr se batate hai ki humne sher ka shikaar kiya hai… main mila hun unse. Salman bohat logo ki madat karta hai… accha aadmi hai… I don’t know if he did it or not…but see his best sides…ghatiya system… let me do good work (I have seen many royals who claim that they have killed lions…I have met them…Salman has helped a lot of people..He is a good man.)” read one of his tweet.

In another post, Kapil, who has 12 million followers on Twitter, requested media to refrain from spreading “negative news” about the 52-year-old star. “Agar main prime minister hota to fake news banane walo ko faansi laga deta (If I were the prime minister, I would have hanged the people spreading fake news)” he tweeted. Kapil, however, deleted the tweets soon, claiming his account was hacked. “Hi all please ignore the previous offensive tweets as my account was hacked . Apologies for the inconvenience caused. Love and regards to all,” Kapil tweeted. This tweet was also deleted soon.

The actor-comedian may have removed the posts but the screenshots of the same went viral on the microblogging site, with many people expressing shock and disdain. One of the users wrote, “Kapil Sharma’s biography: ‘What not to do when you are successful’.” “Kapil Sharma has given food for memes today,” another post read.

“Abuse nights with Kapil Sharma,” a user tweeted alongside the screenshots of Kapil’s tweets. The comedian, who became a household name with show “Comedy Nights with Kapil”, has been going through a rough patch in his career as well as in his personal life.

Later, the focus shifted from Salman Khan and he started ranting abusive tweets targeting an entertainment portal for maligning his image.

It all started with infamous mid-night brawl with actor Sunil Grover. Followed by which Grover left his show along with other artistes including Ali Asgar. Last year, Kapil, 37, had confessed that he was suffering from depression and had undergone treatment for the same.

The comedy star recently made a comeback to small screen with Family Time With Kapil Sharma but the show has not been able to recreate the success of his previous show.
