kat_shahidFor years they’ve been missing the opportunity to work together. But finally, Shahid Kapoor and Katrina Kaif will work together in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha director Shree Narayan Singh’s next, Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

The pair has missed being together for years now. Katrina was offered Rajkumar Santoshi’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero and Vikas Bahl’s Shaandaar opposite Shahid. But she opted out citing date problems.

Apparently, Shahid had told mutual friends he felt Katrina was deliberately avoiding working with him. “So this time, although Katrina again had a date issue, she decided to do Narayan’s film, more so because it gives her a chance to play a small-town girl. She will brush up her Hindi to sound convincing.”

Katrina has apparently beaten Shraddha Kapoor and Bhumi Pedneker to grab the role opposite Shahid Kapoor in the movie.

ranbirkatrinaWhen two people are in the same profession, it is impossible to not cross paths, irrespective of your personal equation. The case with ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif is no different. The two bumped into each other at Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma’s Mumbai reception, which was attended by the who’s who from the world of Bollywood and sports. While Katrina walked in with her gorgeous sister Isabelle and Tiger Zinda Hai director Ali Abbas Zafar; Ranbir came along with his good friend and Brahmastra director Ayan Mukhejee. He was also joined by Anant Ambani and Neeta Ambani.

While there was no encounter while posing for the shutterbugs parked right at the entrance to the hotel, it was inside at the main reception area where the two came face-to-face, well almost. India.com source privy to what happened next exclusively revealed how the two exes avoided each other like pros. “The two came into the reception one after the other. However, they were surrounded by their own coterie. Karan Johar, who had come in earlier with Sidharth Malhotra caught Katrina’s attention and she didn’t spare a minute before heading their way and meeting them. Just while they were exchanging pleasantries, with Isabelle and Ali in tow, talking about how phenomenally well Tiger Zinda Hai is doing, RK walked into them,” said the source piquing our interest.

The source further revealed that once Karan and Ranbir noticed each other, they couldn’t go without the customary meet and greet. But Katrina was present right there. You’d think it must have been awkward. But, the source shared that, “As if on cue, Ayan came to the rescue and whisked Ranbir away to avoid the situation from getting awkward.” That was some quick thinking, must say! This Ranbir – Katrina encounter is best avoided. After all, they aren’t an ex-couple ala Ranbir – Deepika Padukone or Salman Khan – Katrina.

salman-virat-shah-rukh-759Salman Khan Has Once Again Topped The Forbes India Celebrity 100 List. Shah Rukh Khan And Virat Kohli Took The Second And Third Spot Respectively With Priyanka Chopra Named As Only Female Celebrity In Top 10 List

Superstar Salman Khan has once again maintained the top spot in Forbes India Celebrity 100 list for the second consecutive year. The “Badshah” of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan and India’s cricket captain Virat Kohli took the second and third spot respectively with actress Priyanka Chopra named as only female celebrity in top 10 list.

The 2017 Forbes India Celebrity 100 List rankings are based on estimates of entertainment-related earnings of celebrities. The period under consideration is October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017. The methodology for calculating the ranking may have changed this year (to exclude the “fame” quotient), but the list’s top three names have remained constant.

The 51-year-old Salman, for the second successive year, grabbed the top spot, despite the subdued box office performance of his film “Tubelight”. The actor earned Rs 232.83 crore, backed by endorsements of several consumer-facing brands. In fact, his earnings constitute 8.67 percent of the total earnings- Rs 2,683 crore-of the top 100 celebrities for the year.

Shah Rukh Khan, with Rs 170.5 crore, also retained his position at number two as did India’s cricket captain Virat Kohli, with Rs. 100.72 crore, at third spot. But although the top three held on to their ranks, their cumulative earnings declined by almost 20 percent, down to Rs 504.05 crore compared to last year’s total of Rs 626.52 crore.

Joy Chakraborthy, CEO – Forbes India and President – Revenue, TV18, said, “We are delighted to present yet another collector’s edition of Forbes India which will hit the stands soon. Over the years this list has established itself as the definitive benchmark of who’s making what in the entire entertainment world.”

“This year’s Celebrity 100 list is based on a revised methodology focusing on the celebrities’ earnings, thus reflecting in better representation and hence a well-rounded Celebrity list of 100.” The revised methodology this year, focusing only on a celebrity’s earnings (compared to the previous combination of ‘fame’ and ‘earnings’), has increased representation from the prolific South Indian film industry.

There are 13 actors from the South this year as against 11 last year. The number of Bollywood actors is down from 35 to 33, reducing their cumulative earnings by 13 percent from the previous year.

Shuttler PV Sindhu (Rs. 57.25 crores) was the highest money gainer (in percentage terms), as her total earnings soared nearly 17 times, propelled by several brand endorsements following her 2016 Rio Olympics silver medal. There is one woman in the top 10, Priyanka Chopra (Rs 7; INR 68 crore), as she continued to make her mark internationally.

The overall earnings of the Celebrity 100 declined this year, from Rs. 2,745 crore in 2016 to Rs. 2,683 crore this year.

salman_KhanAfter Tubelight Debacle, Salman Khan Acknowledges That His Mere Presence Doesn’t Guarantee Film’s Success

There was a time when people would say, ‘Salman sirf khada ho jayega screen pe toh movie chal jayegi,’” Salman Khan tells mid-day during this interview. Like most stories that kick-off on that note, we understand where this one’s heading. Close on the heels of the debacle of his last outing, Tubelight, Khan acknowledges that the presence of a superstar in a film, doesn’t guarantee success anymore.

“It has been proven that no one can take stardom for granted. The casting of a star doesn’t mean the film will run. [The failure of] my last release proved that. So, there is a pressure [to perform] at all times.” Several months after Tubelight hit screens, the actor seems to have deciphered the reason behind its debacle. Having established himself as an action hero, his fans, Khan says, hate to see him teary-eyed.

“Whenever my fans watch my movie, they want to have a great time. With Tubelight, they were shocked. They were crying, hurt and disturbed, as they couldn’t digest the fact that someone was beating their Bhai, and that I was crying. So, even though they watched it in theatres, they didn’t go back again. The film lacked the repeat value that Sultan (2016) or Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) had.” That the Eid release also hit screens during the festive period was another dampner. “It’s a beautiful project, but it should not have released on a festival. I had warned people to not expect dhamaal and masti.”

He has his hopes pinned on his upcoming release, Tiger Zinda Hai. He promises that the film has enough “soul” to appeal to masses. “We already established the characters in our last film, so, taking them to the next level was not a problem. But, finding the right plot was. The film needs to have a soul, and that’s what this one has.”

ViratAnushkaModi-aTheir Dreamy Italy Wedding And An Exotic Honeymoon In Finland, Virat Kohli And Anushka Sharma Hosted Their Delhi Reception At The Durbar Hall Of Taj Diplomatic Enclave Last Night For Their Extended Family And Friends In The Capital

Their dreamy Italy wedding and an exotic honeymoon in Finland behind them, it was finally time for Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma to bring their love story to desi turf. The couple hosted their Delhi reception at the Durbar Hall of Taj Diplomatic Enclave last night for their extended family and friends in the capital.

The function kickstarted when Kohli and Sharma walked out, hand-in-hand, to the special enclave set up for the media and posed for the shutterbugs. With Sabyasachi at the helm of their styling, it wasn’t surprising to see the actor go the traditional way — Sharma beamed in a red Benarasi from his Peeli Kothi collection complete with red bindi, sindoor and mogra in her hair. She paired it with a heritage uncut diamond choker and jhumkas. Kohli chose a black textured bandhgala with 18 karat gold buttons teaming it with a handwoven brocade churidaar and a hand-embroidered antique Kashmiri Pashmina shawl.

The festivities reached a high when Prime Minister Narendra Modi walked in around 9.40 pm to wish the newly-weds. The couple had visited the PMO on Wednesday to extend an invite to Modi. Among Kohli’s cricket friends, Suresh Raina was the first to arrive. Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Arun Jaitley and other dignitaries were expected to make their presence felt at the reception, till the time of going to press.

salmanIn yet another protest against a Bollywood film, the morning shows of Tiger Zinda Hai, a Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starred film, had to be stopped in many cinema halls across Rajasthan after members of the Valmiki community raised slogans, tore and burnt posters of the film over the alleged use of a pejorative word by Salman during a promotional event.

The protests started from Ajmer and soon reached Jaipur and Kota, leading to cancellation of the morning shows in several cinema halls of the film that released nationwide on Friday.

The aggrieved protesters in large numbers reached Mridang Theatre late on Thursday night and tore up the film posters and many also set ablaze the actor’s posters. They also warned cinema hall owners to stop screening the movie or else they will have to pay a big price, sources confirmed.

The movie has been directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and comes as a sequel to Kabir Khan’s blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger.
