Akshay Kumar is undoubtedly one of the most versatile and hardworking actors in Bollywood. From doing cheesy romantic movies where he is fighting for his love to taking up socially relevant and hard-hitting movies, Akshay Kumar has done it all.

Akshay is one of those few actors who took the risk of doing movies like ‘Jolly LLB 2’, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Padman’ and turned them into the biggest blockbusters, while creating awareness among people about social issues like menstrual hygiene and open defecation.

This time around, Akshay has taken up another challenging movie, ‘Kesari’, which focuses on the Battle of Saragarhi. We are already impressed with his look of Havildar Ishar Singh.

Now, we just got another reason to respect him even more for his dedication towards his movies that he refused to leave despite suffering injuries. Reportedly, Akshay is currently shooting in Wai in Satara district, and while performing an intense action sequence, he injured his ribs. Akshay was advised to take rest and despite several suggestions to go back to Mumbai, he decided to stay back in Wai, although there was a chopper on standby. Stunt coordinator Lawrence Woodward, who has choreographed action scenes for movies like ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, is training Akshay in sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat.

Even at the age of 50, Akshay is performing his own stunts and refused to go back after getting injured. If this doesn’t make you respect his dedication towards his movies, we wonder what will!

Since, the actors make these action scenes look like child’s play, we never realize how hard they work for it and how much they have to go through while performing the stunts. Last year, 55-year-old actor Tom Cruise also got badly injured while shooting for ‘Mission: Impossible Fallout’.

‘Kesari’ is a period film based on the Saragarhi battle of 1897, fought between 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and nearly 10,000 Afghan Orakzai tribesmen. ‘Kesari’, which will hit the theatres in 2019, is directed by Anurag Singh and also stars Parineeti Chopra.
