Reprising and recreating of old chartbusters is the latest trend in B-town. From ‘Kala Chashma’ to ‘Tamma Tamma’, many 90s hit tracks have been rehashed lately but not every experiment is successful.

Remember those famous lyrics, “Neend churayi meri kisne o sanam….Tu ne”? Well, every kid born in the 90s has grooved to ‘Neend Churai Meri’ from the cult film ‘Ishq’.

Anu Malik’s music, Kumar Sanu, and Udit Narayan’s voice were all that was needed to create a Bollywood hit number during those days. The song not only ruled the music charts for weeks but also become everyone’s favourite song.

And finally, Rohit Shetty has released the reprised version of 90’s hit song in his upcoming flick ‘Golmaal Again’. This is the first time that the same actor is seen in the recreated version of his own song. 20 years ago, this song debuted in the Ajay Devgn, Kajol, Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla starrer ‘Ishq’ and now the same track has been reprised in ‘Golmaal Again’ as ‘Maine Tujko Dekha’. Though, after listening to the new track we wish what happened 20 years ago was left untouched.

Sadly, Rohit and Ajay had a different plan. What Anu Malik created once, has now been crushed by the same hands. Nor do you get Kajol’s and Ajay’s peppy chemistry and neither does the song leaves a real impact. This new track is an utter disappointment and makes you wonder why the track was even remade in the first place.

The song focuses on Parineeti Chopra as Ajay tries to woo her, and I so wish I could say this song didn’t destroy those memories, but I just can’t. Growing up listening to this epic song is one thing that will stay with many kids who were born in 90’s. Even today, when the song comes on, one can’t refrain from grooving to its beats and sing along, exhausting our vocal cords. That was the magic of that cult song!

There is nothing new that this song offers. You are presented with Ajay’s trademark steps and a train to sequence from ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’. It seems like producers these days are hell-bent on ruining every old song.

Ajay and Rohit, congratulations on royally messing up yet another 90’s song.
