Well-renowned director, producer, and screenwriter James Ivory just won the Oscar for ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’ for his work on the film ‘Call Me By Your Name’, adapted from André Aciman’s novel of the same name.

While winning awards is nothing new for the man, it’s his age that has taken everyone by surprise. At the age of 89, Ivory is now the oldest winner of an Academy Award.
The film set in Italy in 1983, tells the story of a life-changing romance between two guys, Elio and Oliver. For its positive portrayal of gay romance, the performances of the actors and the screenplay, the film has won critical appreciation across the world.

Apart from proving that age is no bar when it comes to doing exceptional work, he also made one hell of a style statement. James looked like his dapper self on the red carpet, wearing a shirt which had the face of ‘Call Me By Your Name’ star Timothée Chalamet.
Ivory, through his production house ‘Merchant Ivory Productions’ which is known for their literary adaptations, has collaborated with many Bollywood stars like Shashi Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Om Puri, Dina Pathak.
