Priyanka Chopra is a woman of considerable talents. From being a great actress, a singer, philanthropist to a goodwill ambassador, Priyanka Chopra’s never-ending list of achievements just keeps getting bigger with each day. And another similar achievement or should we say responsibility that Priyanka (not so) recently added in her list was that of being the tourism ambassador for Assam.

My one constant…travel. Different places…different people…different worlds. This time I’m in #AwesomeAssam in India 🇮🇳. Follow my stories and tell me…what’s your favorite city or country in the world? 🌎 ✈ï¸?…🎉👌ðŸ?½ðŸ’‹ðŸ’¥

Priyanka Chopra is currently touring Assam and was in Jorhat yesterday where she was welcomed in the most heartwarming way possible. Honestly, if you ever wanted a reason to travel to Assam, don’t look anywhere and just head straight to Priyanka’s Instagram. You will find, not one, but multiple reasons for travelling to ‘Awesome Assam’ and one of them is learning Bihu.

During her visit to the Subarna Prabha Bordoloi Girls High School, Priyanka not only interacted and had fun with the girls, but also tried to learn Bihu from them and failed hilariously. We guess, the choreography was too much too handle, but Priyanka definitely gets full marks for trying her luck at the dance. From beating the shit out of people in ‘Quantico’ to practicing Bihu or learning how to wear ‘Mekhala Sador’ from a 7-year-old; there’s literally nothing that she can’t do.

She wrote in her Instagram post, “The part I enjoy the most…joining in the fun! These young ladied put on an amazing performance for me and it was great to see their confidence and excitement towards life.”

The part I enjoy the most… joining in the fun! These young ladies put on an amazing performance for me and it was great to see their confidence and excitement towards life. This is in large part because they are in a school environment that keeps them safe. They are in charge of building their own futures…their own lives. Keeping a girl in school has so many positives, especially seeing them happy and thriving. A great start to my trip to #AwesomeAssam

From enjoying the local sweets and traditional desserts and enjoying Assamese songs Priyanka Chopra is living the time of her life as a tourist in a place she is the ambassador of. And these pictures and videos of her chilling in Assam is proof why she makes a better ambassador than anyone else.

He feels a role like Bharath is not just rare, it is also a privilege to play such a powerful politically pertinent part

Mahesh Babu

Telugu cinema superstar Mahesh Babu is ecstatic about his new release “Bharath Ane Nenu”, which is said to be the fastest money spinner of Telugu cinema, crossing the Rs 125 crore mark. “We knew we had a terrific film on our hands as Siva garu (director Koratala Siva) is a great storyteller. But one never knows which way the wind blows. It’s always the audience which gives the final verdict, and it’s truly overwhelming and a big thank you to all who have unanimously loved our film. It’s a very proud moment for me,” said Mahesh.

He feels a role like Bharath is not just rare, it is also a privilege to play such a powerful politically pertinent part. “It is very rare for actors to get such powerful films. The characterization of Bharath is my best till date. I will always be grateful to my director Shiva garu for conceiving this part for me.”

Mahesh says he is game for a sequel to “Bharath Ane Nenu”. “To be honest, we had content to do a five-hour film. But since we had to make it one film, we edited the content down to less than three hours. But I would love to do a sequel, if Siva Sir agrees,” said the star.

The “Lincoln” filmmaker and Williams became close after they worked together on 1991’s “Hook” and when Spielberg took on the emotional task of directing “Schindler’s List” which was about German businessman Oskar Schindler

Filmmaker Steven Spielberg credits late actor Robin Williams for helping him get through the “trauma” of filming “Schindler’s List”. The “Lincoln” filmmaker and Williams became close after they worked together on 1991’s “Hook” and when Spielberg took on the emotional task of directing “Schindler’s List” which was about German businessman Oskar Schindler, who is credited with saving 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust, Williams was there to comfort his friend by performing stand-up over the phone, reports aceshowbiz.com.

“Robin called me,” Spielberg said at the Tribeca Film Festival’s 25th-anniversary screening of the film on Thursday. “Robin knew what I was going through. Once a week he called me on schedule. He knew exactly what time it was in Poland, what time it was in San Francisco… and he would do 15 minutes of stand-up on the phone, and I would laugh hysterically because I had to release so much,” said Spielberg.

“The way Robin is on the telephone, he would always hang up on the loudest, best laugh you’d give him. He’d never say goodbye, just hang up on the biggest laugh,” he added. The emotionally-draining process of directing the movie paid off for Spielberg when he brought home Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director, but he didn’t feel like he could celebrate.

“That night wasn’t really a celebration at all. I don’t feel this movie is a celebration. The subject matter and the impact the film had on all of us… took sort of the celebration out of that,” he said. “It was wonderful to win, but at the same time I just remember how moved I was when Branko Lustig, our co-producer, showed the world that he was in Auschwitz, too, and had numbers on his arms,” he added.

His forthcoming film, the intense drama “Omerta” that releases on May 4, traces the life of British-Pakistani terrorist Omar Saeed Sheikh. Is it a biopic?

Hansal Mehta
Hansal Mehta

Whether it is “Shahid”, “Aligarh”, “Simran”, “Bose: Dead/Alive” or the upcoming “Omerta”, National Award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta seems to have found his space in telling stories that are based on real life characters or incidents. He attempts to express his “individual voice” through these narratives.

“I am glad if people also find such stories interesting, as I do. But it is not conscious. I have my individual voice and that reflects in my films. Not necessarily everything translates into acceptance, but I try to maintain my voice in the stories that I tell,” Mehta told IANS in an interview. His forthcoming film, the intense drama “Omerta” that releases on May 4, traces the life of British-Pakistani terrorist Omar Saeed Sheikh. Is it a biopic?

“Yes, it is an unauthorised biopic. You can say that,” the filmmaker said with a smile. Given that “Omerta” tells the tale of a man who was involved in terror attacks in recent history, including the Mumbai terror strike and the brutal beheading of American journalist Daniel Pearl – and possibly the 9/11 attacks — it is understood that the character will be dark. Nobody is a born terrorist. And so, the question arises: Has Mehta tried to humanise Omar Saeed Sheikh? “Being evil and negative is (a) human characteristic that we all have somewhere or the other. But we are not brainwashed like Omar. What Omar is doing is something that he strongly believes in and his ideology has its own logic. “The reason why the story of Omar scares us is because he is so real. He is a murderer, he is evil; and (if) such a man… comes in front of you, it would be spine-chilling. So we kept it that real… He doesn’t dance or eat like a don… things that we get to see in regular Hindi films. All his actions are coming from a certain conviction,” Mehta explained.

The film premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival and received a good response. Asked if the theatrical release and box office numbers worry him, Mehta said: “Yes, we have been travelling with the film since last September and everywhere people are talking about the impact that the story is creating in the minds of the audience. “I just hope that the way the international audience has engaged with the story, our Indian audience feels the same.” “Honestly, when people talk to me about box office numbers, my first and most important concern is to recover the money. Once that is done, the film will live its own life in the theatre. The audience will do that for us. But I want the cost of the film, marketing, everything that is invested should be recovered from the theatrical release,” said Mehta. Starting his career in television, Mehta made his debut as a film director with “Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar!!”.

His movie “Shahid” bagged him a National Award for Best Direction. It is interesting to observe how actor Rajkummar Rao, who played the protagonist in “Shahid” and now features as the terrorist in “Omerta”, has found a new dimension in his career after collaborating with Mehta. “Raj is evolving with each film and we can all see that. But I noticed how involved he is with each of the characters he plays. I remember how he was trying to pick up the Malayalam accent to play Deepu Sebastian (for the film ‘Aligarh’). Since Omar Sheikh is a very dark character, I think he went through a certain emotional transformation that we can see in his performance.

“There was a certain aggression that I noticed in him even when the camera was not rolling. That’s Raj for you,” said the director of his actor. The filmmaker, however, said that when he developed the script of “Omerta”, Rajkummar was not on his mind. “I wanted to make the film in 2007. So, basically, the story has lived with me for the last so many years. At that time, no one was interested in making this film, and I did not know Raj back then. In those years, people did not have much faith in me because of the kind of films that I was making. “However, I think everything has its own time. Raj came into my life during ‘Shahid’ and then he enabled me to make this film,” said Mehta, who is all set to do another film with the actor.

An unspoken hierarchy on the sets of a mainstream film is not something actress Richa Chadha is fond of. Having worked in both mainstream cinema and projects with theatre artistes, Richa pointed at the basic difference between the two

An unspoken hierarchy on the sets of a mainstream film is not something actress Richa Chadha is fond of. Having worked in both mainstream cinema and projects with theatre artistes, Richa pointed at the basic difference between the two.

“Working in mainstream is somewhat stressful, but not in exact sense. It’s a very different experience… There is an unspoken hierarchy in a mainstream film, that I am not fond of,” Richa Chadha told IANS here after she wrapped up the shoot of “Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui”.

The film’s ensemble cast includes actors as talented as Pankaj Tripathi, Saurabh Shukla, Vinay Pathak, Divya Dutta, Manoj Pahwa and Pavan Malhotra. Richa says even if she is on the top of that hierarchy, it makes her uncomfortable.

“Even if I am at the top of a hierarchy, I don’t like it. Because it unknowingly distances yourself from other people working on the project. For example, there are five actors and all of them are equally commercially viable and have equal experience… Just because my manager says, ‘Richa ko kuch alag do, alag van mil jaye (Give Richa a separate vanity van)’, so when I will sit and eat food with them, I will feel weird,” she said.

During the shoot of “Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui”, the experience was different. All the actors, who have a lot of experience, stayed together till its wrap up. And they also helped junior artistes in giving the best shot.

“Suppose we are doing a scene… Like, while shooting ‘Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui’, we have had a few junior artistes in Lucknow. They are not trained actors, so they do not know mark, light, how to put the mic, and the basics. But we are sitting and helping, coming together… If there is a hierarchy, then it won’t be the same… They won’t be able to open up.

“The pressure on that artiste is in fact much more because he/she has to prove himself/herself in just those two days. So, why make that difference or bring it in the first place? If it is there, it really pinches the person on the other side.

“If you are doing a comedy, you have to be comfortable enough with each other to have that camaraderie. Jokes happen between friends, right?” added the “Daas Dev” actress.

“Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui” is a political satire, Co-produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions and Anubhav Sinha. Its release date is yet to be announced.

Sanyal has sought deletion of scenes allegedly portraying the CRPF in a bad light and its re-release

Newton

A Delhi court has posted hearing in the case against Bollywood movie ‘Newton’ for July 19, 2018 for pre-summoning evidence of the complainant. A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) sub-Inspector Tamal Sanyal has filed the criminal complaint and civil defamation case and sought direction to Manish Mundra, producer of the movie, and Shiladitya Bora, the CEO of production company Drishyam Films, to tender an unconditional public apology and compensate the complainant, and the CRPF.

Sanyal has sought deletion of scenes allegedly portraying the CRPF in a bad light and its re-release. He alleged that false and baseless imputations were made by the makers with the sole mala fide intention to injure and harm the image of a prime central paramilitary force of the country.

The ‘National Coordination Committee’, an umbrella organisation of multiple organizations of retired paramilitary personnel and officers, has also filed an application for impleading in the case.

‘Newton’ revolves around a rookie but idealistic election officer as he struggles to hold elections in a Chhattisgarh village despite the threat of Naxalite violence. It was India’s official entry for the Oscars’ Best Foreign Language Film category last year.

Actress Michelle Pfeiffer is in advanced talks to join Disneys sequel of its “Maleficent” hit, starring Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning. Ed Skrein is also on board to join the cast, with “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” helmer Joachim Ronning set to direct the project, reports variety.com.

If a deal closes, Pfeiffer will play the queen in the movie. It is not clear where this film will pick up following the first movie, which was based on the fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty”.

The original story centered on an evil fairy who cursed an infant princess to eternal sleep, only to realise the young girl was the only one who could save the kingdom from its dangerous ruler. “Maleficent” broke several box office records on its way to making $758.5 million worldwide. Production on the sequel is set to start later this year.

Since you’re here, I’m going to take it for granted that you’ve seen Avengers: Infinity War and not worry about giving out spoilers. If you still haven’t seen it, this is your last warning. Major spoilers ahead.

What’s the first thing you felt when the movie finished? Confusion, right? What just happened, man? Finally, Marvel gave us something to do while waiting for the post-credit scene. A thousand questions and no answers. Well, we’re going to try and fix that.

First, the deaths. Heimdall, Loki, Gamora and Vision are the ones who died before Thanos had all 6 Infinity Stones. After snapping his fingers, the ones who disintegrated on-screen are The Winter Soldier, Black Panther, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Star-Lord, Drax, Groot, Mantis, Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, and if you stuck around for the post-credits scene (Who didn’t!?!) Maria Hill and Nick Fury.

Why have I listed the deaths separately? Well, because it’s most likely Marvel is going to treat them separately. This is speculation, though.

So, what happened? Well, the moment Thanos got all six Infinity Stones Thor attacked him with the Stormbreaker and then stabbed him in the chest. That’s when Thanos said, “you should have gone for the head.” A few seconds later, he snapped his fingers and teleported away.

That’s when people started disintegrating left, right and center. Exactly half the universe to be precise. That’s what his master plan was all along. To kill off half the universe so that the other half would prosper. Kind of anticlimactic isn’t it? There’s no war, no resistance, no anticipation, no nothing. Just snap and gone.

One of the biggest problems some people are having with this ending is that there’s no ex-machina moment. There’s no superhero saves the day moment. There’s no happy ending. Yeah, it may not be happy, but it’s apt.

Now, that you know what just happened, let’s address another big problem that Marvel just created for itself. How does Marvel fix all this in Avengers 4? They only have two options from the looks of it. First, they will go the way of the comics and everyone comes back to life. The problem here is that if they do that then ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ becomes one giant waste of time. It will be like everything that happened in this movie is inconsequential. What’s the point of the movie then except being a giant cash grab? This is why there is a need for an option two.

Let’s look at some real world problems now. Hollywood is not like the minds of a comic book writer. They still have the freedom to do whatever they want with the characters, but the actors playing them? Not that simple. Chris Evans looks like he’s happy leaving Captain America behind and there’s no news on whether Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Hemsworth have new contracts. On the flip side, we already know that there’s news of a Spider-Man 2, Guardians Of The Galaxy 3, Black Panther 2 and Dr. Strange 2 floating around irrespective of how much Marvel tries to keep things under wraps till Avengers 4. So, while they can ask us to expect the unexpected, there are a few things we kind of already know.

As for option 2, it will need to be something we’ve never seen before. We know that Captain Marvel is going to get thrown into the mix. Even Adam Warlock might have a role to play. The characters getting solo movies after Avengers 4 will have to be brought back and as for the rest, they could either be replaced or given a hero’s send-off. It will be painful to see an MCU without Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. either way.

Will Avengers 4 prove that Infinity War was nothing but filler before we get the main movie or will it tie every loose end up neatly? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Abhishek Bachchan had taken a two-year long sabbatical from movies and preferred choosing the right script rather than just signing any movie. The hiatus is finally over and Abhishek is bouncing back with Anurag Kashyap’s film, titled, Manmarziyaan, alongside Taapsee Pannu. In an interview with Film Companion, the actor reveals how his family supported him and wife Aishwarya was his strength.

In the interview, Abhishek Bachchan spoke about how his family reacted to his decision of a two-year break from movies. “I didn’t say I don’t want to be an actor anymore, I just said I need to change the kind of films I am doing. It took two years for me to get the right film that I perceived to be the right film… How was it on the family? I spoke to them, I told them and they were very supportive… They were okay with it. I think somewhere they were like ‘Okay, one year has gone by, what is this guy doing? I think that’s a parental instinct. My wife was fine because I walk my family through everything I do so they are on the same page.”

Further speaking of how wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan resumed work after baby Aaradhya was born, the caring husband said, “When she came back (to movies), she went through the same insecurities of ‘Am I gonna be able to do?’. ‘Am I gonna pick up where I left off?’ ‘I am gonna climb that mountain again?'”

He considers this leap the best thing, he ever did in his career. Junior Bachchan was last seen in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 3 (2016).
