There is no denying that 2017 was primarily owned by superheroes, Jedis, mystical creatures and clowns who love to feast on kids. But, no matter how successful they were; it was ‘action’ that turned out to the ultimate winner, ruling our hearts like no one else. At least, the recently released Forbes list of top grossing actors proves the same, after actor Vin Diesel grabbed the top spot.

Vin Diesel defeated his ‘Fast and Furious’ co-star Dwayne Johnson aka ‘The Rock’, and ‘Wonder Woman’ Gal Gadot to become this year’s top grossing actor. According to Forbes, Diesel’s ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ and ‘The Fate of the Furious’ collectively raked in $1.6 billion, thanks to the gigantic success of the eighth installment of ‘Fast and Furious’.

Johnson’s movies ‘Baywatch’, ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘The Fate of the Furious’, on the other hand made $1.5 billion so far. It seems, even a good star cast couldn’t help save ‘Baywatch’ or make Johnson inch closer to beating Diesel.
As ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ has hit the theatres recently, it will continue adding to his total, but for this year he has lost the crown to Diesel. Honestly, had his voiceovers from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ as the adorable Groot been included in the picture, Diesel would have easily crossed $2 billion.

Surprisingly (or maybe not), the third spot was taken by none other than ‘Wonder Woman’ actress Gal Gadot whose films, which also includes ‘Justice League’, made $1.4 billion globally. Her debut as Diana, the Amazonian princess and an unconquerable warrior, was undoubtedly the biggest blockbuster of summer. In fact, ‘Wonder Woman’ also became the highest grossing live-action movie ever directed by a woman (take a bow Patty Jenkins). Furthermore, her performance in ‘Justice League’ too added millions to the already huge figure that Gadot was already taking home.

Apart from Diesel, Johnson and Gadot, the list also includes Emma Watson, who shed her Hermione avatar to become Belle in this year’s smashing hit ‘Beauty And The Beast’ and grabbed the fourth spot with $1.3 billion.
The list also includes, Johnny Depp ($1.1 billion), Daisy Ridley ($1.08 billion), Tom Holland ($888 million), Chris Pratt ($864 million), Chris Hemsworth ($845 million) and John Boyega ($815 million).
