After facing the arc lights for decades, Raveena Tandon has now gone behind the camera. The actor, who has been dabbling in wildlife photography for some time, is showcasing her maiden collection at an exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery in Kala Ghoda, tomorrow.

Says the actor, “The pictures have been taken at different forests in India, which include the Kabini Wildlife Sanctuary in Karnataka, Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand and the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. My children [Rasha and Ranbir] love visiting wildlife sanctuaries, these are images that have been taken during our travels.”

Raveena Tandon is among the 78 chosen photographers who will be displaying their works at the show, H2Photo. The proceeds from the sales will go towards installing solar pump sets at sanctuaries to revive depleting watering holes. “I am the only amateur among so many professionals,” says Tandon, who is currently honing her skill under the tutelage of her photographer friends, Avinash Gowariker and Pavitr Saith.

A vociferous animal activist, Tandon’s interest in wildlife photography stems from her love for them. “It is amazing to see them in the natural habitat,” says the actor, who hopes to have a solo exhibition of her clicks soon.

Following warm response to her beauty vlog, Raveena Tandon set to come out with a line of skin essentials

Raveena Tandon became every girl’s go-to beauty guru last year as she turned vlogger and shared her skincare secrets on her social media handle. Now, mid-day has learnt that the actor is gearing up to launch her own line of skincare products.

A source close to the actor reveals, “Raveena has been approached by a beauty products company for a joint venture. While the actor has agreed in principle, the modalities are being worked out. The signature line will consist of hair and skincare products.” Confirming the news, Tandon says that it was her fan base that prompted her to take her love for beauty to the next level. “When I started my vlog BeautyWithRavz, many of my fans urged me to launch skincare products made from natural ingredients. I thought it would be a good idea. Being an entrepreneur, I wanted to extend my entrepreneurial ability to a sphere that is close to my heart,” she says.

One to swear by the goodness of natural products, she insists that she will adopt the same philosophy in her range too. “The products won’t rely on animal testing, and won’t contain harmful chemicals.”

Many actors have ventured into the market with their collection of beauty essentials. Ask her how she intends to stand out from the bandwagon, she says, “I’m not pursuing this to make money. I only wish to deliver quality products to consumers and make them happy.”

Always envied flawless skin of Bollywood’s leading ladies? Well, B-Town’s mast mast girl Raveena Tandon might just help you achieve that. The actor has started her own beauty video blog (vlog), called Beauty Talkies With Ravz, where she gives skincare tips and shares her beauty secrets with her followers – all in videos of under a minute.

Tandon says that the idea of starting a beauty vlog germinated when she was flooded with requests for the same by her fans. “I’m grateful for all the love that fans have sent my way. I saw this as an opportunity to reciprocate their love. I will be addressing skin concerns and questions related to beauty that I get asked often.”

The response to her first two videos has been encouraging, she beams. While one may assume that the actor will recommend high-end skincare products that will burn a hole in their pockets, Tandon asserts that she suggests only “ghar ke nuskhe.” “I share all the home remedies that have been passed on to me. The tips that I suggest are easy to follow. The videos too are conceptualised by me,” she says of the posts that drop online every Wednesday.

Taking advantage of the interactive nature of social media, Tandon adds that she intends to take the project ahead by having interactive sessions with her fans in the near future. “Right now, we post the videos once a week. Depending on the audiences’ response, we will decide the frequency of the segment. Even if I’m travelling or busy with a shoot, I’ll fit this commitment in my schedule.”
