Ever since, Priyanka Chopra made it official that a Bollywood film is “happening” through an informal video chat with Ranveer Singh, speculations about her ‘comeback’ films have refused to rest. However, a report in Dna claims that it is Tiger Zinda Hai director, Ali Abbas Zafar’s film, Bharat, that will reunite the pair of Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra.

Bharat is produced by Salman Khan‘s brother-in-law, Atul Agnihotri. If this works out, it will mark the reunion of Salman and Priyanka after a huge gap of 10 years.

Salman and Priyanka Chopra were cast opposite each other for the first time in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004). Since then, they have also worked in Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love (2007) and God Tussi Great Ho (2008).

“Priyanka has also worked with Ali in Gunday (2014) and shares a good rapport with him. This film will see the three of them collaborate for the first time,” informed the source to the daily, stating that desi girl shares a good rapport with Ali Abbas Zafar.

The publication also suggests that recently, Ali met Priyanka in New York where she was shooting for the next season of her international TV series Quantico. Bharat is expected to roll out mid-2018. The source further informed, “The fact that their Jodi is coming together after such a long time will surely be exciting news for their fans.”

There was also news of Priyanka Chopra doing astronaut Rakesh Sharma’s biopic alongside Aamir Khan, and both their fans were excited to see this first-time pair. However, Aamir opted out of the film and Shah Rukh Khan replaced him.

When the Baywatch actress was asked about it at one of the award shows, this is what she said, “I have finalised two-three scripts. Now, I am left to make announcements. Rakesh Sharma biopic was one of those scripts. I was approached for that film when Aamir was doing it… He is not in the film now. We were supposed to do it in 2019. Now, I don’t know.”

Women's Day Having noticed the gender inequality prevalent in Indian cinema, Priyanka Chopra and her mother Madhu Chopra have initiated changes in their production house, Purple Pebble Pictures. Insiders from the banner suggest that the duo is focusing on roping in more women artistes for their upcoming projects to create a gender-neutral workplace, with equal importance to pay parity.

In their bid to support pay equity, Priyanka Chopra‘s studio, Purple Pebble Pictures, has included a rider in the contracts of their artistes clearly stating that gender won’t be one of the determining factors in their remuneration. Madhu Chopra asserts that the inclusion of women in the production house isn’t restricted to direction or acting. “We have women story writers, directors and camera technicians. So in every aspect of filmmaking, we are encouraging women. Although I would reiterate that we give equal opportunity, there is a certain bias towards women at the moment because they are marginalised and we have to give them an additional push.”

Ask her about pay equity and she says that they are creating a set-up where lead actors of projects will be paid at par, irrespective of their gender. “The pay scale is determined by the merit, qualification and talent. So there are different parameters, but gender is definitely not one of them. We believe in gender equality and that applies to remuneration too.”

Priyanka is also keen on backing more women-oriented stories helmed by women filmmakers. While their recently wrapped-up film Firebrand has National Award winner Aruna Raje at the helm, the studio’s last offering — the Sikkimese film Pahuna: The Little Visitors — was directed by Paakhi Tyrewala. Madhu adds, “Female-centric stories make the most impact on people. Everyone knows that women are strong enough to be talked about. The impact that I am expecting [from these developments] is that women will rise from where they have been put and walk shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts.”

Priyanka Chopra has decided to cut ties with billionaire diamond trader Nirav Modi’s brand following the news about the alleged banking fraud carried out by him. “In the light of recent allegations, Priyanka Chopra has chosen to terminate her contract with the Nirav Modi brand,” a spokesperson of Priyanka, who was the global brand ambassador for Nirav Modi, said in a statement issued on Friday.

As the news about the multi-crore scam involving Nirav Modi came to light earlier this month, a statement from the actress read that she was seeking legal opinion on her contract. There were also speculations that she is suing the brand for non-payment of dues. But her spokesperson denied this.

The termination news comes in the wake of after actresses Kangana Ranaut and Bipasha Basu accusing Mehul Choksi-owned Gitanjali Group of breaching the contracts with them and not paying their dues.

Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi, along with the directors of the Nirav Modi and Gitanjali groups, are under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for an alleged Rs 11,300 crore fraud on Punjab National Bank through illegal use of Letters of Undertaking and Foreign Letters of Credit to raise and rollover money.

Both Nirav Modi and Choksi are said to have left the country, along with their family members, in early January.

Her frock did not go down too well with people, as they think it wasn’t ‘sober enough’. In fact, the opposition Congress leaders had problem with her opting for a frock instead of the traditional ‘mekhela chador’.

According to a report in Economic Times actor Priyanka Chopra, the global brand ambassador of Nirav Modi diamond jewellery house, sued the designer’s company for defrauding her and not paying her for an ad campaign. Within a span of a decade, and emerging out of nowhere, the Wharton dropout created a brand that became eponymous with Bollywood and Hollywood glitterati. His pieces range from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 50 crore and have found a permanent place across celebrity collarbones causing both awe and admiration among his peers. For a man who has built a billion dollar enterprise, diamonds are in his DNA. His father also a diamond jeweller migrated to Antwerp Belgium but Modi returned to Mumbai to learn the trade from maternal uncle Mehul Choksi, who like Modi, have also faced allegations of fraud.

Deepika is the only actress to be in the top 3 position on the list, with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart ranking first and second respectively.

The Top Actors chart is a ranking of the most popular actors on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus, with global data provided by social media analytics company MVPindex. The chart’s methodology blends social engagement on the platforms along with weekly additions of followers/subscribers. The latest tracking week ended January 30.

The list has Bollywood’s leading lady, Deepika Padukone leading at the top spot as the actress has been an online sensation over the last few months. The Top Actors List also features Priyanka Chopra on the 8th position. Other Hollywood ladies to be a part of the list include names like Millie Bobby Brown, Dove Cameron, Jennifer Lopez and Gal Gadot.
