Rabindranath Tagore's 'intimate scene' to be cut from Priyanka Chopra's film

National Award winner Ujjwal Chatterjee, who is helming a trilingual film produced by Priyanka Chopra’s company on the relationship between Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and his English teacher Annapurna Turkhud, has agreed to chop off one ‘intimate scene’ of the bard at the behest of Visva Bharati University.

“I have agreed with Visva Bharati’s recommendations on removing intimate scenes. I am removing one scene. There are no problems regarding the decisions of the committee formed by the varsity to look into the authenticity of research. The shooting will commence in November this year, and will take place in Shantiniketan, Jorasanko and Maharashtra,” Chatterjee told IANS.

Annapurna Turkhud, also known as Anna or Annabai, was the daughter of Atmaram Pandurang Turkhud, a Mumbai-based (then Bombay) doctor. Tagore had stayed with the family prior to his first voyage to Britain in 1878 and took lessons in spoken English from Anna.

He gave her the nickname Nalini, which Anna used later on as a pseudonym for her writing. She inspired some of Tagore’s early poetic expressions. Tagore never forgot about Anna and used to reminisce about her in his old age.

The film will portray the platonic relationship between the two.

Chatterjee explained in one scene of the Marathi-Bengali-English film, Nalini kisses her fiance as Tagore looks on while in another Nalini pecks Tagore on the cheek.

“Actually we have to retain the scene where Nalini kisses her fiance because its documented. The other scene will be removed,” said Chatterjee.

Acting Vice Chancellor of Visva Bharati University Swapan Kumar Datta told IANS that the subject has to be treated sensitively and they are awaiting the final script with the necessary changes.

Actress Richa Chadha, who is playing a lead female character in the show which is based on cricket and showbiz, plays the character of a Bollywood superstar, Zarina Malik who owns a cricket team. Right from the first look of the show came out the show has kept everyone intrigued especially with some of its steamy scenes of some characters.

Seems like while she plays the woman in power, she definitely was clear that she wouldn’t bare it all for any portrayal of her scenes in the show. Even though the script demanded, Richa was clear not to go down that road.

Sarangi Maestro Dhruba Ghosh passes away

Sarangi maestro Pandit Dhruba Ghosh passed away at his residence due to massive heart attack today morning. He was the Son of late Tabla Legend Pandit Nikhil Ghosh. He was 59.

He had received the Sangeet Natak Akademi award. He had also received the Grammy award for his album with chinese string ensemble.

Besides performing in India and overseas, he was the Principal of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Mumbai. He was the brother of well-known tabla and sitar maestro Pandit Nayan Ghosh.

Amarnath Yatra terror attack: SRK, Akshay Kumar, other Bollywood celebs offer condolences to victims

Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Shabana Azmi, Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher have offered condolences to the victims of the Amarnath Yatra terror attack and demanded a strong action against the perpetrators.

On Monday night, seven pilgrims — six women, one man — were killed and 19 others injured when militants attacked an unescorted bus at Khanabal, Anantnag district on the Srinagar-Jammu highway. All the victims hailed from Gujarat.

The bus was returning from Baltal to Mir Bazar after darshan. The militants also carried out two attacks on security forces in the area.

Shalini adds, “I’m blessed to complete nine years of marriage and it all seems so fresh and exciting till date from the beginning. There is no dullness in our life. We are like teenagers, mad and crazy people filled up with love for each other. I feel like have been succeed to balance my acting career with being a wife and mother. My family is happy and thats my reward. This anniversary we both have planned to grow spiritually too. We believe couple who are on the same level spiritually cope much better with each other.”

A 15-year-old photo of Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif with late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, along with Neha Dhupia, Aditi Gowitrikar, Aanchal Kumar and Shamita Singha, has gone viral and it is sure to take you by surprise.

In the picture, the ‘Jagga Jasoos’ actress and her gal pals can be seen posing with Gaddafi. Wondering how they met? Katrina, Neha and other friends met Muammar Gaddafi when they were in Libya for a fashion show almost 15 years back.

The rare photo has been shared by Shamita Singha on Instagram. Quite a throwback, isn’t it?

Muammar Gaddafi, who ruled Libya for 42 years after coming to power in a coup, was killed by National Transitional Council fighters in his hometown Sirte in 2011.

On the Bollywood front, Katrina Kaifwill be seen next in ‘Jagga Jasoos‘ opposite former boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor. The film hits the theatres on July 14.

Katrina also has ‘Thugs of Hindostan‘ lined up co-starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Tennis champ Novak Djokovic’s former girlfriend, Serbian pop star Natasa Bekvalac, has alleged that he would “rather be happy dating Deepika Padukone.” The ex-flame has spilled the beans in an interview according to online reports.

She has hinted that the two had an affair. In March 2016, Novak and Dippy were clicked by the paparazzi outside a restaurant in Los Angeles.
