The iconic character of Batman has been immortalized by a lot of talented actors over the years, actually 9 to be exact. The man who logged the most hours in the Batcave was, of course, Adam West.
After facing a lot of backlash, Michael Keaton proved everyone wrong with his portrayal of the character.
And obviously, Christian Bale is a fan favourite.
The current Batman is Ben Affleck, as everyone knows.
But, if rumours are to be believed, we’re getting a new Batman sooner than we expected. The latest person to join this elite group of people could be none other than Jake Gyllenhaal.
After ‘Justice League’, a lot of changes have been happening behind-the-scenes in the world of the DCEU, and the main one being some alterations to the character of Batman. Along with that, rumours of Jake Gyllenhaal taking over as Bruce Wayne for Matt Reeves’ solo Batman movie have surfaced again.
Initially, Ben Affleck’s casting as Batman in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ received a lot of backlash from the fans, because let’s be real, that was quite a downgrade after Christian Bale. Even though Warner Bros. apparently went to great lengths to keep Affleck around in the past, the studio has “soured” on him now, reportedly. Moreover, the studio also has Jake Gyllenhaal waiting in the wings as a possible replacement, apparently.
However, these are all rumours right now. Ben has to at least finish his contract for now and only then can Jake come on board. But, this news lines up with the rumours about a possible recasting taking place, so it seems feasible enough to take seriously. Just the possibilty of Jake as Batman is so exciting, I don’t know what we’ll do if and when it actually happens.
