Amidst receiving so much hate and opposition from the Rajput wings to impose a ban on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historical piece, ‘Padmavati’, the makers of the film have gone ahead and released an epic love ballad between Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. The song, ‘Ek Dil Ek Jaan’ describes the relationship between Rani Padmini and Maharawal Ratan Singh, essayed by Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor respectively.

The song’s exquisite illustrations make it for a beautiful visual treat. Unlike, any other Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, ‘Padmavati’ too has its regal touch. The song also shows how Rani Padmini is Maharwal Ratan Singh’s strength and from being at peace at home to preparing for a war, she is always standing like a strong pillar beside him.

The music of the song has been composed by filmmaker-music director, Bhansali, himself. Shivam Pathak’s soothing voice makes it for a delightful hear. Lyrics are penned by AM Turaz. This is Shahid and Deepika’s maiden film together and after watching their chemistry, we believe, this film is definitely a treat for their fans. Talking about the song to mid-day, Deepika Padukone told, “Shahid and I have known each other for so many years, but a special film like Padmavati brought us together onscreen”.
Padukone thinks Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh is the perfect hero to Ranveer Singh’s Alauddin Khilji. “His contribution to this film is irreplaceable. It was important to have a good actor, with a strong screen presence and massive popularity to add to this film. Shahid brought that with him.”
