It looks like IIM-Ahmedabad will probably have a gala time in the classrooms with 100% attendance. Why? Because, IIM-A is all set to introduce SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ as a case study in their academic curriculum.
Yes, reportedly in a first, ‘Baahubali 2’ will be included in one of the electives and the students of Contemporary Film Industry, will study the power of a sequel and how they can ‘derisk’ the movie as a marketing concept.

According to a report published in DNA, Bharathan Kandaswamy said, “I will be introducing ‘Bahubali 2’ as a case study in the new academic year and it will essentially focus on the power of a sequel and how a sequel can derisk the movie as a marketing concept. There is a research from Stanford University which says that a prequel is always considered better than the sequel but a sequel makes more money than a prequel.”
He further added “Sequels make more money because the producers become more marketing savvy based on the success of a prequel. My course this time will focus on marketing mantras evolving around sequels and how decisions need to be taken that respect art and creativity of a movie and yet are able to make money. Blending art, business and technology is the key.”

Well, IIM-A is said to be the first business school in Asia to introduce a comprehensive elective course on the film industry and over 700 students have already enrolled in the course. This course provides a 360 degree view of the creative industry space with special focus on movie production.
In fact, the official account of ‘Baahubali’ too shared the news with their fans on Twitter.

Before the release of ‘Baahubali 2’ in April 2017, people couldn’t sleep for days and were constantly haunted by just one question – WHY DID KATTAPPA KILL BAAHUBALI? Soon this turned into a million dollar question and people flocked the movie theatres to know the real reason behind Kattappa’s ultimate betrayal.
If we were to compare a movie character with any of the education institutions out there, there’s one comparison that all the MBA aspirants will unanimously agree with – Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad is the ‘Baahubali’ of business schools. And now that the business school will study the movie, they probably might have a different explanation to Kattappa’s actions and why he betrayed and killed Baahubali.

When Prabhas and SS Rajamouli decided to work together in ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ and ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’; little did they know that the movie will change the fate of Indian cinema, and they will become the spear headers of this change.
‘Baahubali 2’ literally crushed the box office in 2017 for reasons that were quite obvious – intriguing storyline, brilliant visual effects and graphics and exceptional acting of Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti, Sathyaraj, Anushka Shetty and Ramya Krishnan.

As for the movie, we hope Rajamouli comes up with a parallel ending where all of this turns out to be a fragment of Katappa’s imagination, who in reality was the main antagonist trying to wreck havoc in the lives if doting brothers Amarendra Baahubali and Bhallaladeva. But, we all know that’s not going to happen, so let’s go back and binge watch both the movies all over again.
