It’s strange to see how within a short span of time, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ has become a soft target for the fringe elements and controversies surrounding it doesn’t seem to be dying anytime soon. From being beaten up, creating political rows, offending the Rajputs to getting beheading threats, the film has been created a storm since the time it was announced.

Twinkle Khanna Slams BJP Leader's Remark On Deepika Padukone© Twitter/SanjayLeelaBhansaliFilms

Every day you hear someone or the other threatening Deepika Padukone or Sanjay Leela Bhansali for their role in the creation of the film. Some disgraced her for playing this role while some have gone ahead and announced a bounty for beheading the director and the actress.

The present state in which the nation finds itself isn’t something to be proud of. It’s disheartening to see how freedom of expression gets curbed in a democratic nation.

Isn’t it ironic that on one hand the Rajputs and the political organisations are fighting for the honour of Queen Padmini and on the other hand they are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to disgracing, thrashing and abusing another female who has played her character on screen?

While such unfortunate events are unfolding, there are also many who are supporting the film and are quite vocal about it. ‘Mrs. Funnybones’ Twinkle Khanna, who is known for her wit and sharp sense of humour, recently poked fun at the Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader who publicly offered a humungous amount of Rs 10 crore to the person who beheads Deepika and Bhansali. Sad state of politics indeed!

Twinkle took to Twitter and posted a witty jibe saying, “The nation wants to know-Is this 10 cr beheading fee inclusive of GST?”

— Twinkle Khanna (@mrsfunnybones) November 19, 2017

And the humour queen just didn’t stop there, and in order to send a clear message to those people who are threatening the SLB team, she further said, “And as far as #Padmavati is concerned I wish it is the biggest hit ever as that would be the befitting rejoinder to all these loony threats!”

And as far as #Padmavati is concerned I wish it is the biggest hit ever as that would be the befitting rejoinder to all these loony threats!

— Twinkle Khanna (@mrsfunnybones) November 19, 2017

Meanwhile, with the ongoing chaos and the censor problem, Padmavati has postponed its release date. If reports are to be believed, the film will hit the screen somewhere in February in 2018. Let’s hope everything turns out in favour of the film.

Shah Rukh Khan’s son AbRam is a charmer. While most of the kids shy away from the media, this little one poses in front of the paparazzi like a boss. He already has his father’s confidence and we bet he is going to replace King Khan himself.

SRK's Son AbRam Thinks Amitabh Bachchan Is His Grandpa© Instagram

Recently, Amitabh Bachchan hosted his granddaughter’s Ardhaya’s birthday bash and of course it was a star-studded affair as celebs showed up with their children. Shah Rukh Khan joined the party with his youngest AbRam. It was great to see SRK and Big B standing side by side and the duo somehow reminded us of ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’.

The father and son saga touched everyone’s heart. There was no one who wasn’t moved by their love-hate relationship. In fact, the thing that made everyone love the two in the first place was that the story was too relatable.

Every son and father could see their love in bits and pieces being showcased in Karan Johar’s story. The acting by the two was so natural and spot on that anyone could have mistaken them for real. Well, many of us truly hoped that it was indeed the truth.

While we were just hoping, AbRam went ahead and officially declared ‘Shahenshah’ as Badshah’s father and we totally can’t help but adore this cute act of his.

This is what happened. Amitabh Bachchan took to his Twitter handle and shared the incident. “And as for this little bundle .. he wanted the fluffy ‘buddhi ka baal’ cone .. so we took him to the stall made one for him and the joy of getting it is just priceless .. Abram, jr Shahrukh .. delectable !!”

Big B also shared some pictures capturing the moment that we are totally loving. We can definetly see AbRam enjoying every bit of this moment.  That laugh of pure glee says it all.

In response to this, SRK spilled some beans and tweeted, “Thank u sir. This is a moment he will always cherish. By the way he thinks u r my ‘papa’ when he sees u on TV.”

2017 has Rajkummar Rao’s name written all over it. One look at his work and you can’t help but admire his journey. As the year has come to an end, Rao has decided to end it by shaving his scalp and stepping into the shoes of freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Playing Netaji ain’t an easy job, getting into the skin of the legend and doing justice to the role requires tons of hard work and transformation both mentally and physically. This incredible series has already begun making waves

Bose Dead/Alive (c) ALT Balaji

MensXP saw Bose directed by Pulkit just before it airs on the digital platform. The web-series traces the journey of Netaji from being an introverted 14-year-old to a 48-year-old brave nationalist. From bringing into light the story of India’s biggest cover-up to showing how it all began, we give you 5 reasons on why Bose is absolutely worth watching!

The Man, The Legend

Bose Dead/Alive (c) ALT Balaji

The story of Netaji has always been a jigsaw puzzle for many around. We have read the theories, the myths about him being dead or alive but how many of us actually have an idea of what happened? The series brings various chapters of Netaji’s into limelight. Following a non-linear format, this fast-paced thriller not even for a moment lets you lose your concentration. The introductory scene of Rajkummar set in the Presidency College where he beats up the British professor with his shoe is worth applauding. Netaji becoming the mayor of the city and marching the Raods with thousands of people, is yet another scene that makes you rave about the man. Or be it him forming his own army under the nose of the British, there is nothing you can’t love about the story.  From snappy cuts to amazing sequences, there is a lot in store for the viewers who would like to see Netaji’s story through a new lens.

For Talented Rajukummar Rao

Bose Dead/Alive (c) ALT Balaji

When it comes to Rao, there is literally nothing this man can’t do. He ain’t your conventional hero and that’s what makes him extraordinary. When any actor would have easily chosen to opt for a wig and prosthetic, Rao decided to transform himself and be Bose in every sense and manner. There is not a moment in the series when you feel he isn’t justifying Netaji. Some might contradict saying he doesn’t have that demure. But boy, he has got it all that it takes to play this role. As anticipated by the trailer itself, Rao creates that enigma and makes this conspiracy tale an interesting watch. And full points for getting that Bong style and accent in place!

The Bang On Narration And Music

The soundtrack designed by famous musicians Dr. G and Neil Adhikari are too good to not get noticed. Every moment in ‘Bose’ gives you a high just because of the music. The electro-rap pumps up the aura and makes you curious enough about the storyline. The beauty is that the music follows in synch with the narration.

Bose Dead/Alive(c) ALT Balaji

When most of the story is showcased from the protagonist’s point of view, Bose follows a different pattern. The real narrator of this story is Darbari Lal (Naveen Kasturia), who is a hawaldar (constable) for the British Raj and has been appointed to spy on Bose. The way he narrates Netaji’s story adds the zeal to it. The scenes between Naveen and Rao are something you just can’t miss because both are so natural. You love the fact that you ain’t seeing this story through Bose but Darbari, who gives you a glimpse of the revolution led by Netaji.

Quick And To The Point

Bose Dead/Alive (c) ALT Balaji

If you are expecting a detailed work on Netaji, then you might be disappointed. Keeping the digital scene in mind, the script is tight and brings the various aspect to you quickly. Yes, at times you might feel that some characters didn’t get time to grow, but that’s a beauty in itself. The way the story has been set and picturised covers up all these flaws and makes for an engrossing watch. You also have Patralekha Paul as a gentrified Bengali girl who perfectly fits the role. However, Anna Ador who plays Bose’s German wife Emilie comes out as the star.

The Mystery

Bose Dead/Alive (c) ALT Balaji

The series doesn’t directly blame or question anyone for the mystery that revolves around Netaji but very wisely makes its point. Playing it subtle and smart, the makers give you a glimpse of everything in these small episodes. From personal vendetta, political reasonings, conspiracy, to the mystery of Netaji’s death, a lot is there for you as a viewer to watch. In fact, there comes a point when Bose questions Congress’ intentions as well and you can sense something fishy from their end.

Bose Dead/Alive (c) ALT Balaji

It’s interesting to see how one man single handedly made the life of the British a living hell and no one could stop him. He was a revolution in himself and you can’t help but admire his strength and intelligence.

P.S. Don’t miss Nehru’s part, who saw Netaji as someone who cannot be tamed!

‘Bose Dead/Alive’ is set to air on ALT Balaji from 20th November.

Reita Faria was the first Indian to win this crown in 1966 and she was the one who has inspired Manushi since her childhood. Leaving her medical studies aside, the 20-year-old won the title of Femina Miss India this year.

Defeating 108 contestants from various nations, she won the coveted title, proving that she was every bit worthy of it.

Manushi is involved in various social activities as well and after winning Miss India, she started an awareness campaign about menstrual hygiene. Talking about it to the media, she said, “The cause is close to my heart, and in my own way, I have managed to make a difference in the lives of about 5,000 women. If an organisation like Miss World backs it, it could reach a different level altogether.”

To win the Miss World Pageant beauty isn’t the only factor that is taken into consideration, as various aspects of one’s personality play an important role as well. Their intelligence, confidence and spontaneity and other skills play a vital role.

Manushi Chhillar(c) Reuters

And now that we know the winner, we can say for sure that Manushi possessed all these qualifications to make it till here. But what won her the title was the answer that she gave to the judges that won everyone’s heart.

The panel asked her a question and her answer gave her the golden ticket to the title. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that what she felt and expressed played a huge role.

Manushi Chhillar (c) AP

The judges asked her, in her opinion which profession deserves the highest pay and why.  To which she replied, “I think a mother deserves the highest respect and when you talk about salary it’s not always about cash but I feel it’s the love and respect that you give to someone. My mother has always been the biggest inspiration in my life. All mothers sacrifice so much for their kids. So, I think it is the job of a mother that deserves the highest salary.”

Check out the video here:

Well, this answer was definitely the one that touched everyone’s heart and we are totally impressed by this beautiful lady. What do you think about the answer she gave?

Going back in history, it was Reita Faria who won the beauty title for the first time in 1966 from Asia. The next time India won the title was in the year 1994 when Aishwarya Rai was crowned Miss World. Rai’s win opened up various avenues for Indian beauties who went on to claim the title like Priyanka Chopra, Diana Hayden and Yukta Mookhey.

The answer that got her the title was in response to the question – which profession deserves the highest salary in this world – as asked by judges. Her heartfelt answer won everyone’s heart. Manushi replied, “My mother has been my biggest inspiration, so I have to say, a mother’s job. It is not always about cash, but love and respect as well. A mother deserves that the most.”

You don’t always need a strong, emotional tale to make a beautiful film. Sometimes, all you need is a simple story told in the simplest manner and that’s more than enough to touch your heart and soul. Director Suresh Triveni’s latest, ‘Tumhari Sulu’, is one of those films that reminds you of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s work, giving you a much-needed slice of real life.

Triveni’s story of a middle-class family is so heart-warming that from the first frame to the last, you are totally invested in the story.

The film tells the tale of Sulochana Dubey (Vidya Balan) aka Sulu of the Jal Padma Housing Society, a happy-go-lucky housewife who lives with her husband Ashok (Manav Kaul) and son Pranav (Abhishek Sharma) in Virar, Mumbai. More often than not, she cooks up silly plans to do something or the other. Fortunately, she lands the role of a late-night radio jockey. Her sexy voice and her unique perspective in dealing with people’s problems makes it an adventurous ride until reality catches up with her.

Breaking the glamorous rulebook that Bollywood has preached for a very long time, Triveni shatters the stereotype that female protagonists cannot be funny and turns it on its head. And boy, Vidya totally nails it.  She’s is the emotional and comedic core of the film.

Sulu is crazy and mad but her story isn’t something to laugh about. This isn’t your regular Rohit Shetty film where people crack bizarre jokes, but Sulu’s one-liners are incredibly relatable. You actually feel that you are sitting in your own house and someone is cracking those jokes around you.

Be it Sulu’s extended family or the people around her…….the film gives off such a genuine atmosphere that it looks like someone is portraying a true story on the big screen. Understanding what the audience likes to see, the debutant director brings the common man and woman’s problems to the big screen. It’s sad that most Bollywood films miss out on this very real feeling.

This is a film that Vidya totally deserves, and who would have known that she could make you laugh so much? There is no one who could have played Sulu the way she did. You will fall in love with Sulu and admire her because she is so damn relatable.

Vidya takes you on a laughathon but keeps the character grounded by not ridiculing the role even for a moment, which is a tough job to do. Radio Wow’s Maria, the head of the organisation (Neha Dhupia) and RJ Albeli Anjali (Malishka Mendonsa) are amazed at Sulu but that had been explained perfectly. Everything happens in a streamlined process in the film and nothing is sudden, making it very human.

Neha and Maliksha are great in their respective roles and it’s lovely to see Neha donning the boss’s hat.

Manav Kaul comes as a complete surprise as he’s a man who is often seen playing villainous roles. In this film though, he is incredibly adorable and brings out emotions so brilliantly that Ashok’s character feels incredibly real and not fictitious. Well, if you actually had a guy who could dance to ‘Ban Jaa Tu Meri Rani’ like he did, he is indeed a keeper!

What makes ‘Tumhari Sulu’ so impactful is the fact that it gives you an insight into a relationship, where you understand the importance of small things in life and understand how a family works. And, how for two people to live happily, it is important to accept each other’s idiosyncrasies wholeheartedly as well.

A humorous film can lose its pace when entering emotional territory, but Triveni makes sure nothing is out of the place. Despite the amount of tears you’ll cry, you’ll fall for Sulu, Ashok and Pranav’s chemistry.

Don’t forget to watch this well woven story of aspiration and achieving extraordinary feats in your ordinary life. Sulu, Ashok, and Pranav will definitely tug the right chords in your heart! With its fresh narrative, heart-warming emotions, ‘Tumhari Sulu’ is surely one of the most entertaining films of the year.

Looking at the present scenario, it would be apt to say that the element of freedom of speech is fighting to survive every day in our country. We tend to get offended and our levels of intolerance seem to be spiking. It doesn’t matter which field you work in, you will often find someone or the other curbing your right of expression. And filmmakers these days are falling victim to this menace.

Be it Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ or Ravi Jadhav’s ‘Nude’, people always find a reason to not like something about the content of the films. Which often makes us wonder about what happened to the liberty of expressing your views on the silver screen?

Despite being recommended by a 13-member jury to be the opening film for the Indian Panorama section at the 48th International Film Festival of India, director Ravi Jadhav’s Marathi film was dropped out of the final list of the major movie festival.

Well, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting dropped the film along with another critically acclaimed Malayalam Film ‘S Durga’ (which was screened in Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival) from the list of the movies that are being shown this year at IFFI.

Such interference makes us question why is there even the need of a jury when I&B Ministry tends to interfere and not even give a clarification about its absurd decision?

A lot of debate has been going around this issue and recently filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh who was heading the panel resigned after this decision by the government.

However, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who heads the State-owned Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), which co-hosts IFFI, said on Wednesday that Nude was dropped because it was not fully complete, reports The Hindu.

“Nude is not even complete. Even if it is selected by the jury, if it is not completed and unless it gets a certificate from Board for film Certification, unless the entire procedure is complete and it is ready, it cannot be screened. There will be an issue with the Cinematography Act,” Parrikar said.

Amidst all this, the makers of ‘Nude’ have finally released the teaser of the film which the government surely doesn’t want us to see.

The clip gives us a peek into the story of a poor woman (Kalyanee Mulay) who leaves her husband and comes to live with her aunt (Chhaya Kadam) in Mumbai. And finally, she comes to the classroom of Sir JJ School of Art in Mumbai to discover what her aunt does to earn her living.

Acting Master Naseeruddin Shah plays the role of an art teacher who concludes the teaser saying, “Beta kapada jism pe pehnaya jaata hai…rooh pe nahi aur mein aapne kaam mein rooh khozne ki koshish karta hoon. Samjh mein aaya? (Clothes are meant to cover the body, not the soul. And I, through my art, am attempting to seek the soul. Do you understand?)”

Here Is The Haunting Teaser Of 'Nude'

Well, the title of the film might lead you to form some judgment but the film takes an artistic route to take us through the journey of the main protagonist of the film.

There is absolutely no nudity in the teaser and the story has been presented in a very beautiful manner. ‘Nude’ might make you uncomfortable as it is questioning life and people in a way, but it doesn’t look like a film that should have been banned! How about we don’t judge a book by its cover?

Check out the teaser here and let’s be glad there is still no censorship of the digital medium (for now) or the teaser wouldn’t have seen the light of the day!
