It was just another day for the trolls, who started slut-shaming actress Ameesha Patel for her bold photoshoot. Her Instagram’s comment section was filled with filthy comments and personal attacks on she being “out of work” and her “source of income” was questioned by the trolls. This only proves how serious the issue of cyber harassment has become with moral police targetting actresses for their choices. However, the 41-year-old actor paid no heed to the comments and went ahead and posted some more photos.

On the work front, Ameesha Patel will next be seen in ‘Bhaiyyaji Superhitt’ alongside Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. She also has her long-in-the-making home production ‘Desi Magic’ in her kitty.

Asked about Desi Magic’s release, Ameesha Patel admits it has been a long journey. “By now, I should have been on the set of my next home production, but due to certain issues, the film is taking time. We changed the script to an extent and made the scale bigger and better. So, we are not really complaining about the delay; if anything, it has only helped make the film better.”

Ameesha believes the time spent on making a film doesn’t matter as long as the result is good. “The audience comes to the theatres for a good film and not for a film that’s made on time. We have seen several of them not even surviving till Monday (day four). Kuunal (Goomer, production partner) and I are not making a small film. As first-time producers, we are making a big, entertaining film and that too on our own,” she reasons. She is confident of the film and hopes the audience appreciates her efforts. She is eyeing a November release.

Ameesha Patel has worked in films like ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ (2000), ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ (2001), ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ (2007), ‘Humraaz’ (2002) and ‘Race 2’ (2013).

‘Sunn Raha Hai Na Tu’ singer – Ankit Tiwari got engaged to Pallavi Shukla on February 20 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It is an arranged match for Ankit, wherein, his paternal grandmother played cupid for him. Ankit’s grandma met Pallavi on an express train while boarding it from Kanpur to Delhi.

The engagement ceremony will be followed by a traditional haldi, sangeet and mehendi ceremony. Later, they will get married in a typical North Indian style in Kanpur on February 23. The duo will host a reception on February 26. The families will also host a reception in Mumbai once Ankit returns from his Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata tours by the month-end.

“Usually weddings in our family last 10-12 days, but Ankit doesn’t have the time. His shows are booked months in advance and we worked around his dates,” Ankit’s older brother Ankur, who also manages his work, told Mumbai Mirror, adding that his conservative in-laws don’t wish to share a pic of the bride-to-be before the pheras.

The couple will dance to the tunes of Ankit’s award-winning Aashiqui 2 track ‘Sunn Raha Hai Na Tu’ as well as his other chartbusters, ‘Galliyan’ and ‘O Yara’. The groom describes his first meeting with Pallavi in Mumbai as a “private and personal affair”. “Once dadi announced that Pallavi would be the family’s daughter-in-law, everyone agreed. I’m happy that the family is happy and a little nervous too. She is a very sweet and simple girl. During our first meeting there were 10 others seated between us,” Ankit laughs.

Pallavi hails from Bangalore and is a mechanical engineer by profession. “I’ve introduced her and her family to my work and life in Mumbai where she will live after marriage,” Ankit told the publication.

From the television industry, it was Gaurav’s close friend, Karan Mehra with his wife Nisha Rawal, who flew down to Delhi to attend the former’s wedding. The two also kept the secret guarded and didn’t share any pictures from the private affair on Instagram.

Gaurav Chopra was rumoured to be dating the television beauty, Mouni Roy. Apparently, he started dating her after parting ways with actress Narayani Shastri. After remaining a couple for some years, Mouni and Gaurav parted ways citing personal issues.

Gaurav Chopra is known for his television roles like Raghuvendra Pratap Rathore, Abhay Singh Ranawat, and Samay. He has also appeared in Tamil film Ottran. Gaurav is also remembered for his stint in the 10th Bigg Boss house.

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, the sequel of the Diana Penty-starrer Happy Bhag Jayegi will release on August 24. Mudassar Aziz-directed the 2016 film which turned out to be a sleeper hit. The film also featured Abhay Deol, Ali Fazal and Jimmy Shergill. The second part will star Sonakshi Sinha along with Diana.

Happy Bhag Jayegi was about Happy (Diana), a vibrant Indian girl, who elopes on the day of her wedding so that she can marry Guddu, the man she loves. It isn’t easy to match up to Kumar Sanu‘s finesse behind the mic. But his daughter, Shannon K, 16, proved that music is in the genes as she matched him beat for beat, spark for spark in the recently released track, It’s Magical. In an interview with mid-day, the father-daughter duo talks about collaborating by chance and their admiration for each other’s musical skills.

This is your first professional collaboration with your daughter. How does it feel?
Sanu: I wasn’t sure if she would complement my voice, but I am happy with the result. I am proud of her sense of music. She has a sweet, yet powerful voice, and is versatile. Be it opera, pop or romantic numbers – she is comfortable with every genre.

Was she your first choice for the song?
Sanu: No, I was supposed to record the track with someone else, but it didn’t work out. When I was discussing about the project getting delayed because I didn’t have a female voice, Shannon requested me to allow her to compose and sing the female portions. If I had thought of working with her, it would have been a father-daughter track [instead of a romantic one].
Shannon: That’s why the song is special to me. It was not originally meant for me. He thought I won’t be able to justify the feel of the song, but when I penned the lyrics, he was happy.

Did you record together?
Sanu: My portions were composed by Daniel George [Norwegian composer] and written by Sameer. Shannon wrote the English lyrics for her part. I recorded in Mumbai and she did it in Los Angeles.

What do you like the most about your father’s singing?
Shannon: The texture of his voice is different; it’s deep and mysterious. When he sings a romantic song, he sounds sweet; when he records a cheeky number, he sounds cheeky, and when it’s a sad song, his voice tugs at my heart. Everything about his singing inspires me – he is passionate about his work and is a quick learner. He doesn’t take more than 15 minutes to understand a song.

Do you want Shannon to try Bollywood playback?
Sanu: She grew up in the UK and can’t speak Hindi properly. So, I’m not sure if she can sing for films.

How is your father as a mentor?
Shannon: Dad is strict about riyaaz and insists that I practise every morning. I don’t consume cold drinks or spicy food, because he says they ruin the voice.

Are you working on any other project with him?
Shannon: Nothing at the moment. I am lucky to be part of this song. Singing with dad was a dream.

Did you know? Veteran singers Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik turned down the songs of AR Rahman’s National Award-winning 1992 hit, Roja.

It is the story many hope for – a YouTube star catches the attention of filmmakers and gets her big break in Bollywood. Only in the case of Dhvani Bhanushali, it all did come true. At 19, she is not only a force to reckon with on the video-streaming platform with over 48,000 subscribers and several popular covers to her credit, but has also made a dream playback debut with Ishtehaar from Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh’s next film, Welcome To New York.

Less than a year old on YouTube, she credits the platform’s wide reach for her foray into the Hindi film industry. “YouTube is a great way to promote your work. It is a vehicle that will take you to the corners of the world. After all, it was my Bollywood covers on YouTube that caught Shamir Tandon’s [composer of Welcome To New York] attention. Since he wanted a fresh voice for the track, he asked me to give it a shot,” she says, beaming with pride that she got the opportunity to sing alongside Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in her first outing itself.

From singing the cover version of Kabira (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, 2013) to performing on MTV Unplugged season 7, it has been a smooth ride for Bhanushali so far. The youngster, on her part, is raring to go – she wants to follow in the footsteps of her idols Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal and Neeti Mohan. But Bhanushali hopes to mix up film and independent projects like her favourite, Beyonce. “Her music is phenomenal. I want to do Bollywood as well as indie music, and wish to perform like artistes from the West,” says the singer.

Author Ashwin Sanghi’s book “The Krishna Key” is set to be adapted into a film and an original series for the digital platform. Eros International has acquired the rights to adapt Sanghi’s thriller which came out in 2012, said a statement from the company.

The book follows a history professor who must prove his innocence against a murder charge. “I am delighted that Eros International has acquired the rights to ‘The Krishna Key’. Eros has an incredible team that is exceedingly capable of adapting this action-packed thriller into a very interesting story for cinema. I am confident that the final product will be exciting and entertaining,” said Sanghi.

“The Krishna Key” was Sanghi’s third novel which tries to unfold the secrets of the Mahabharata and establish Krishna as a historical character rather than a mythical character. The series is in initial stages of development with talent yet-to-be finalised.

Ridhima Lulla, Chief Content Officer, Eros International said, “We are gearing towards enhancing the premium content offering on Eros Now, that includes the launch of its originals. We want to offer a myriad content mix on our platform and have been particularly keen on adding Indian mythological themes which remain hugely popular.

Thugs of Hindostan, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, will release during Diwali 2018. The Yash Raj Films production is being helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who directed Katrina and Aamir in Dhoom: 3. It is an adaptation of the 1839 novel “Confessions of a Thug”.

Padmaavat makers hire ocean liner to celebrate the success of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus while it heads towards Rs 300-crore mark at box office

After the trouble the makers went through to ensure Padmaavat reaches the audience, it is time for Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone to pop the bubbly. With the magnum opus racing past the Rs 275-crore mark at the box office, mid-day has learnt that the makers have planned a grand bash for the weekend to celebrate the success. The team has zeroed in on February 24 since it also marks Bhansali’s 56th birthday. Given the director’s love for everything grand, the bash too will be just as special – it will be held aboard an ocean liner.

Says a source from the production team, “The team did not want a run-of-the-mill party at a five star. So they zeroed in on the Ark Deck Bar, the floating restaurant that has an open-air bar deck, a sit-down restaurant and private dining areas. It not only offers stunning view as it sails off the coast into the sea, but will also give the stars privacy from the paparazzi.” He adds that the do was initially scheduled for February 21 but was later pushed to Saturday to coincide with the auteur’s birthday.

While Bhansali, Singh and Padukone will celebrate their third consecutive success, Maharawal Ratan Singh aka Shahid Kapoor will be conspicuous by his absence. “Shahid won’t be present as he’s shooting in Tehri for Batti Gul Meter Chalu. A guest list of about 150 people has been drawn up that includes other Bollywood stars as well. The Ark is just a boat ride away from the Sea Link jetty. Everyone including Deepika and Ranveer will be ferried across.” The source adds that an extensive menu comprising European, Indian, Italian and pan-Asian cuisine will be laid out. When contacted, Bhansali’s team refused to comment.
