The box office is all set to witness a string of blockbuster films this June. With the release of ‘Veere Di Wedding’, ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’ and ‘Phantom’, the month has already started on a high note.
2018 has been a great year for Bollywood so far, with movies like ‘Padman’, ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Baaghi 2’ and ‘Raid’ making big bucks. It was amazing to see even average budget movies like ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ and ‘Hichki’ impressing the viewers with its fresh concepts.
May proved to be an awesome month with movies like ‘Raazi’ and ‘Parmanu’ throwing light on stories that we had never heard of. And now, after watching these intense movies, it’s time to start this month with a bang as it has entertainment written all over it.
June 2018 has some great movies lined up and here’s a list of the ones which should be on your must-watch list:
Veere Di Wedding (1 June 2018)
With all the buzz around this movie, we bet there is no one who isn’t curious to know what the story is all about. Promoted as #NotAChicFlick, this movie stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania in the lead roles. The movie revolves around four friends attending the wedding of a close friend from within the group. The script brings in different layers and emotions, showcasing four different journeys. The movie has already hit the theatres today and you can catch it over the weekend.
Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (1 June 2018)
Vikramaditya Motwane’s vigilante drama ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’ is not your regular Bollywood superhero movie, which makes it a must watch. The trailer had left many impressed with its concept. The movie highlights the serious issue of corruption prevalent in Indian politics. It can be termed as a superhero/revenge drama, where Harshvardhan Kapoor will be seen trying to avenge the death of his friend, who was killed by a politician for his own nefarious reasons.
Weaving the tale of a vigilante who fights corruption in a kick-ass style, this movie is edgy, dark and gives you a sliver of hope that this could bring about a change to the face of B-town’s superhero films.
Phamous (1 June 2018)
There are chances that you might have not even heard of this film, but with a cast like Jimmy Shergill, Kay Kay Menon, and Mahie Gill, the movie does sound promising indeed. Directed by Karan Lalit Bhutani, the movie is a romantic/crime drama that deals with the power struggle between four main characters in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh.
The plot and the concept seem to be interesting and different compared to main-stream films, but with huge movies like ‘Veere Di Wedding’ and ‘Bhavesh Joshi’ releasing alongside ‘Phantom’, we wonder if people will even give this movie a chance? Maybe word of mouth will do wonders for this movie?
Kaala (7 June 2018)
Though this is not a Bollywood movie, the Hindi dubbed version of this Rajinikanth-starring film makes it to our list for all the right reasons. Thalaivar’s latest movie shows him as the saviour of the masses. The gangster-drama is the story of Kaala Karikaalan, who is a local favourite in the Dharavi slum. He will be seen fighting Nana Patekar, a corrupt politician who has no qualms about eliminating anyone who gets in his way.
We can already expect some whistle-worthy dialogues and jaw-dropping action sequences, given it’s a Rajinikanth movie.
Race 3 (15 June 2018)
When a movie stars Salman Khan, it goes without saying that it becomes one of the most anticipated films of the year. Starring Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah, Anil Kapoor, Saqib Saleem, and Freddy Daruwala, ‘Race 3’ is the perfect family entertainer, which is set to release this Eid and Bhai’s fans are more than excited to watch it.
High on octane action sequences, this movie, however, has become a joke on social media for various reasons. But still, when a film stars Salman Khan, it is bound to mint money and enter the 100 crore club, even though it makes no sense at all. We only hope that Bhai doesn’t destroy the ‘Race’ franchise.
Sanju (29 June 2018)
The trailer of the movie has left almost everyone waiting with bated breath to see and hear the unseen story of Sanjay Dutt. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, the movie is a biographical drama based on the life of the controversial Bollywood actor. Fondly known as Sanju Baba, Dutt’s story has different shades to it.
From the trailer, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the man has seen and experienced more than one can ever think of in a lifetime, which makes his story extraordinary. The movie also stars Anushka Sharma, Manisha Koirala and Sonam Kapoor in key roles.
