The buzz about Salman Khan starrer film ‘Tubelight’ being a remake of the Hollywood movie ‘Little Boy’, has been doing rounds since last year, but the makers have finally come out and given credits to the Alejandro Monteverde movie in the end section claiming it as the Official Story Adaptation. ‘Tubelight’ is an Indian War drama that revolves around two brothers – Sohail Khan playing the ideal elder brother who goes to war and Salman the younger one waiting for his return. The title of the movie itself is inspired by Salman’s character, as someone who takes a while to process things. He has the brain and innocence of a child, as shown in the official trailer with him being addressed as “Tubelight”.

Kabir Khan clears all doubts in an interview – “it’s just the seed of an idea. Everything else has been completely changed in ‘Tubelight’”, says the director. But then again, it doesn’t seem so considering the pictures and the videos that are surfacing on the internet which highlight similar scenes from the American production.

However there seem to be slight differences in the plot as ‘Little Boy’ focuses on dwarfism and the title of the movie explains the concept when Pepper Flynt asks his doctor if he has dwarfism, and the doctor tells him, “For now, Pepper, let’s just say you’re a ‘little boy’. Similarly, ‘Tubelight’ seems to be an extension of Salman Khan’s character, for which the makers have bought a no objection certificate from the Kannada movie ‘Tubelight’, albeit the Kannada movie has an entirely different plot than the Bollywood one. What seems to be a Hollywood movie revolving around a father and son, the Kabir Khan production decided to focus on two brothers instead.

Salman Khan who is known to launch newcomers in the industry has always been seen pairing up with new faces or with the bigger actresses of B-town. The buzz this time is tenfold as Chinese actress Zhu Zhu is playing his love interest in ‘Tubelight’.

The mini trailer of the film is out and it has Shah Rukh playing a ‘cheap’ guy with a lose character, in his own words. SRK seems to be his usual witty brutally honest self that we so love. Anushka plays the role of a Gujarati girl Sejal Parikh while SRK is Harinder Singh Nehra, a tourist guide, known as Harry, of course.

This Harry is nothing like the coy simple-minded Surinder Sahni madly in love with his young wife Tani from ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. Probably Raj, the character he dons to impress his wife is more like Harry, but Raj is still a simple small-town boy as compared to the self-acclaimed rake Harry. With SRK and Anushka playing the lead pair and Imtiaz Ali’s direction, we have no doubt this one’s going to be worth our money.

The movie releases on August 4 and we’re glad there’s something to look forward to at the end of this seething summer.

Given producer Bhushan’s excellent sense of music, and unparalleled marketing muscle, I couldn’t have asked for a better association.” It is a treat to watch this trio arguing in the video. The film is set to hit the theatres on November 3. Let’s hope even this time they are able to cast their humour spell like they have done in the past.

So obviously, while attending many events and amidst the million interviews that he has been giving, the ‘bhai’ of B-town was asked about his opinion about the movie critics that reside all over the place and the effect the movie ratings have on the nature of success of a film.

In one such interview with Huffington Post, he explained, “I genuinely, honestly don’t care. I believe that they’ve no right to take anybody’s hard work down. The fans will decide that, in any case. The box-office will prove it one way or the other. What have you done to earn the right to rip a film apart? On Day 1 of the release, you write some rubbish crap. It destroys films and a lot of hard work that went behind making it. With me, of course, it doesn’t make any difference. And I think they know it all too well. My films are critic-proof. I am telling them now: go give my film minus 100 stars, why just zero. My fans will anyway watch my film and that’s my reward”. He even vented out his feelings about the hit-and-run case that has been a part of his life. “For 20 years. 20 years is a long time, man. It’s a lot of years. It takes a toll on you and your family. The financial toll on our family because of the cases has been huge. When I was a nobody I had nothing. When I become somebody, I got the magistrate court. When I become slightly bigger, I got the High Court, then. And now when I am in this position, I have the Supreme Court.”

From Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt to Ranbir Kapoor, everyone gave suggestions for Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming film. Several reports stated that apparently the film was supposed to be titled The Ring and later the makers sealed the name Rehnumn. However, no one was happy with the titles.Finally, the makers chose Ranbir Kapoor’s suggested name and he just couldn’t contain his happiness when the title ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ made it to the posters.

When the name was officially announced, Ranbir said in an event that he was the one who suggested this title. “I suggested the title ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ to Shah Rukh Sir and Imtiaz Ali. But the sad part is that I had no idea about the reward, so Shah Rukh Sir, I am coming to Mannat (SRK’s residence), keep the Rs 5000 ready in cash!” he said. “To be honest I was shooting at Mehboob Studio, where Shah Rukh Sir, Imtiaz Ali and Anushka were also shooting. We all were sitting in a van together and discussing various options for the title of the film, and I suggested this title Jab Harry Met Sejal, everybody laughed at me for the ‘bakwas’ title I had suggested. Today they have used my title, and I am very happy that I could be a small part of this film. It is by far the most exciting actor-director duo, Shah Rukh Sir and Imtiaz Ali is my favourite duo as a fan and as an audience. Pritam is in this film, Anushka is in this film, and I am happy even I am a part of this film,” RK added.

However, now finally King Khan has finally settled his debt with Ranbir Kapoor. ‘Hisaab barabar’, as he called it and paid him Rs 5000 ‘in cash’ as RK demanded.SRK took to Twitter and shared a photo handing cash to Ranbir.  He tweeted “Jagga Jasoos we are quits now!!! Hisaab barabar (It’s even now). Give @karanjohar his share for the ‘Jab’ part in JHMS please.”
