Even before ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ hit the theatres, we all knew what was coming. We knew someone was going to die. We knew it would hurt like hell. And when that moment finally came, something inside us broke…just like Thor’s beloved hammer Mjolnir, which was blown to smithereens by Hela, the Asgardian goddess of death. (It is yet to sink in!)

First of all, kudos to the team for easing us into it by showing the deadly scene in the trailer itself. Because Lord knows what would have happened if that scene just popped up in the film. Pretty sure movie halls across the world would be filled with the screams of people in pain and agony.

Thank you Marvel for preparing us ahead for that soul-shattering moment.

It goes without saying that Thor took the loss the hardest. After all, Mjolnir has been with him right from the start and witnessed the son of Odin going through his best and his worst. Right from the time when Odin chucked him to Earth for being a spoiled brat, to Thor truly becoming a superhero, Mjolnir always faithfully stood by him.

It seems like poor Thor is yet to come to terms with the loss, as Chris Hemsworth, who plays the superhero, took to social media to pay his tributes and mourn the death of his best friend.

“Brother, the goddess of death destroyed your hammer like a piece of glass.” The video begins with Thor’s ‘adopted’ brother Loki telling him straight on his face about what happened to Mjolnir, highlighting the fact that Loki will always be annoying AF.

The video then goes on to show the times Thor kicked ass, thanks to Mjolnir and how the hammer can harness lightning and help him blow things up, while also helping him fly. Basically, his hammer always came back to him…but not anymore.

The sad montage then ends with a picture of Mjolnir titled “In Memoriam. From the beginning of time- 2017.” (Whew!) After taking a deep breath and pacing ourselves, we can now look back and know for sure that nothing can replace it. He was Thor’s best friend, trusted ally and most importantly…they were always only worthy of each other.

Okay, except this one time.

Damn you Vision!
