Nimrat Kaur is one of the finest and most versatile actresses in Bollywood and with each movie; she proves that she is here for the long run. After flooring us with her exceptional performances in projects like ‘The Lunchbox’, ‘Airlift’ and ‘Homeland’; Nimrat is back in action with ‘The Test Case’, the much-awaited web series by ALTBalaji. And the recently released trailer speaks volumes about how kickass the show and Nimrat’s performance is going to be.

Nimrat plays the lead role of Captain Shikha Sharma, India’s first woman combat officer, who struggles to make a mark in a male-dominated world. The first few seconds are enough to make you fall in love with Nimrat’s character and her flawless and phenomenal acting.

When a woman strives to break-free from the shackles of the society and do something that was until now considered to be under men’s jurisdiction, especially when it means fighting the enemies in the battlefield as a commando; the whole world tries to pull her down.

But, Captain Shikha Sharma fights all odds and shows the men in the Special Forces Training Centre that she can overcome any obstacles thrown at her – be it physical or the mindset of those who believe women aren’t fit for combat or to be in the Army.

As we delve deeper into the trailer, things get problematic and suspicious for Nimrat’s character who now not only struggles to become the first female combat officer, but also has to deal and get over the politics inside the academy.  At the end of the trailer, Nimrat says “This is my story sir, And there is only one hero in this story and that’s me” and we completely agree.

By the looks of the trailer, it seems that Nimrat will completely own the web series. And we can already smell a suspense-filled thriller brewing in the backdrop that confuses us to an extent where one is compelled to question who the main player here is. Is it Nimrat who is pulling the strings or is she just a pawn in this game?

Apart from Nimrat, Juhi Chawla, Atul Kulkarni, Rahul Dev, Sumit Suri, Annup Soni and Akshay Oberoi too did an amazing job. Chawla plays the character of Shraddha Pandit, the Minister Of Defence. Although we couldn’t see much of her in the trailer, her dialogue was enough to intrigue us to look forward to the release of the episodes. “The torture that a man is willing to bear for his nation, a woman too, can bear. Captain Shikha Sharma will be our test case for this.” This will go down in the history of web series as one of the most hard-hitting dialogues.

‘The Test Case’ is produced by Ekta Kapoor and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The first episode has already been aired and the remaining episodes of this series will be available on ALTBalaji from January 26.
