'Sadak 2' Is Finally Happening! Sanjay Dutt And Pooja Bhatt Are Set To Reprise Their Roles
Almost 27 years ago, a love story won everyone’s heart. There was not a single viewer who wasn’t moved by filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Sadak’. Bhatt who is known for his extraordinary filmmaking concepts, and in 1991 gave us a story where despite all odds Sanjay Dutt wins Pooja Bhatt’s love.
This is one of those rare Bollywood creations that one can watch again and again. And now if reports are to be believed, a sequel of ‘Sadak’ is finally happening featuring Sanjay and Pooja in their original characters. If everything goes as planned, the film will hit the theatres around August 2018 and we just can’t keep calm.

Millennials who watched this film, will remember how the script played out and the song ‘Tumhe Apna Banane Ki Kasam’ that was on everyone’s walkman during those days. The film created such a rage and the songs were on the chartbusters list that every household had a cassette of ‘Sadak’ in their collection.
As per the filmmakers, Sanjay and Pooja will be seen reprising their roles. Sanjay is all set to return as Ravi, a taxi driver who saved Pooja from Maharani, a brothel owner. The duo will be seen on-screen together after 27 years and will joined by a new couple who are still not decided.
“Sanjay, who was 32 when we made the original, comes back as a 54-year-old Ravi into the 21st-century world that is collapsing in front of his eyes, where the distinction between the house and the ‘Sadak’ is fast disappearing. The story has the emotional connect of the films I made back in the 90s’ which brought a lump to the throats of the viewer. I could see that in the reaction of those present at the narration. They were visibly moved,” Mahesh Bhatt told Mumbai Mirror.

Well, the film will not be directed by Mahesh as he believes that chapter of his life is over.
“Sadak 2 is going to bring back Pooja in a dazzling new avatar. And like the original, the music will be its USP. We have already finalised two songs and even as we speak, Jeet Gannguli is playing one for us. It’s time to go on back on the road again,” Mahesh added.

Giving us a bit more detail about the project Pooja said, “Sadak 2 will reflect the special relationship Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt share. While my character is unique, and this film like Aashiqui 2 makes you believe in love at a time when it’s so easy to walk away from a relationship, it is going to be about Sanju from the first frame to the last. It’s my father’s ode to him.”
And before you start thinking who the new couple will be, no it won’t be Alia Bhatt but someone else. The director and the new couple still have to be locked. “It can’t be a chocolate-boy hero, we are looking for a boy with a striking personality and a girl who has the emotional resonance of Pooja and Alia Bhatt,” she said.
