Bollywood seems to finally be coming of age and we couldn’t be prouder. The masala films may continue to dominate the box office but what numbers can’t, quality cinema can – move, sensitize, enlighten and most importantly, represent. Written and directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, ‘Sisak’ is officially India’s first silent LGBTQ film and that in itself is one big milestone, regardless of how the film does at theatres. Sonam Kapoor just unveiled the first trailer of the film and it promises some cinematic shots even in the mundane Mumbai local. The story seems to revolve around two strangers who meet in a train every night and even though the train is shown to be empty, one can sense the hovering eyes of society. It’s too early to say how good the film would be, but just the fact that Bollywood finally has its first silent gay film deserves a round of applause. Here’s wishing the team of ‘Sisak’ the best of luck with this.
