Ever since we heard that Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel is all set to make her debut, we are in overdrive trying to find out as much as we can before she comes to the aid of the mighty Avengers. Well, we do want to know anything and everything about her, before ‘Avengers 4’ hits the screen. After all, why be unprepared?

If you have seen the post credit scene of ‘Infinity War’, you would know why Captain Marvel is so important.

1. From The US Air Force To NASA

In the late 1960s when Carol Danvers was introduced, she was not a superhero but a member of the U.S. Air Force. At 18, she joined the military and soon became a Major. Over various comics, she has worked at the CIA, where she met S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Nick Fury. Later she took the role of the security chief of NASA. Well, for a fraction of the time, she was also an editor for The Daily Bugle’s women subsidiary.    

2. Becoming Ms. Marvel

When she was at NASA, she met the Kree superhero Mar-Vell and was exposed to a damaged Kree device called the Psyche-Magnetron. This device reconstructed every cell in her body, giving her unbelievable superpowers. And that’s how she became Ms. Marvel.

3. The Link Between ‘Avengers’ And ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

As per the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Danvers is the link between the ‘Avengers’ and the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ films. However, recently the screenplay writer of ‘Captain Marvel’ stated that there will be changes made in her original story, so her story is different than that of DC’s ‘Green Lantern’. 

4. Teamed Up With A Range Of Superheroes

While most superheroes are just part of one clan, she works differently. She is part of the Avengers, New Avengers, and she was a Mighty Avenger (eventually led the team). From the Defenders, the X-Men to Guardians of the Galaxy, she has worked with everyone. Her another hero persona, Binary, has also worked with Starjammers (a group of space pirates).

At present, she is working as the member of the Ultimates, whose major work is to find and sabotage any threats before it hits the Earth.

When it comes to numbers of powers and abilities, Carol Danvers has an insane set of them. Before she got these superpowers, she was already an established pilot and military officer. Her original set of skills were enhanced thanks to the superpower. Her list includes super strength, energy absorption, the ability to fly, psychic powers energy projection, and durability.

7. Meet Her Binary Persona

In fact, her Binary persona has some magnificent powers. She can survive in space, have cosmic powers, can capture the power of the white hole and a lot more than we can imagine. Would we love to see her Binary persona? Hell, yes!

8. Team Iron Man Or Not

While she hasn’t made an appearance in the film yet, she has always been an integral part of Marvel’s ‘Civil War’. She was initially on team Iron Man in the comics. However, in Civil War II she had her own fighting ideology battle opposite Iron Man.

9. First Female Superhero Film

Captain Marvel, when the movie goes on the floor, will be the first female superhero in the MCU to get a solo film. Oscar-winner, Brie Larson, will be seen donning this character.

10. When Captain Marvel Lost Her Superpower

In one of the storylines, she ended up losing all her superpowers when she was touched by the mutant superhero Rogue who absorbs her powers. Rogue does it because she gets to know that in a future event she will be harmed by Danvers and in order to stop it, she attacks her. In fact, for a very long period, she imbibes all of Danvers’ energy. She also leaves her to die but Spider-Woman comes to her rescue. 

11. Love Life

You might not know or remember this, but she was also romantically involved with fellow Air Force officer, James Rhodes aka War Machine.

12. The Mantle Has Been Passed On

The moniker is now held by Pakistani-origin superhero Kamala Khan. She has been inspired by Danvers and is the first Muslim character to get her own Marvel comic.

The whole point of creating her character was to come up with a feminist icon, who was independent, ambitious and career-driven. 

14. DC’s Captain Marvel

We have often had characters who’ve donned the same superhero names, even the DC hero Shazam at one time was called Captain Marvel. However, a legal dispute between both the companies made DC change the name.

15. She Was An Alcoholic

For those who don’t know, one of the storylines also presented us with Carol’s alcohol problem followed by the death of her love which also led to her losing her powers

16. Avengers 200 Controversy

In Avengers 200, Carol Danvers was shown in a way that wasn’t appreciated by the fans. She was kidnapped, brainwashed and made to believe she was in love with an interdimensional being. This resulted in her having a child names Marcus. 

Initially, when Carol is told about all this she is blank and has no memory of it at all. However, Marcus convinces her to stay with him. But little did she know that he was controlling her mind. 

Later in the comic by Chris Claremont, Danvers returns and explains to the Avengers how they failed her and left her to live with her monster son who had control of her mind. And she could only escape because of Marcus’ accelerated aging that led to his death.

17. Supposed To Appear On ‘Jessica Jones’

Carol Danvers was initially supposed to appear in the Netflix series ‘Jessica Jones’ but her part was cut and modified to be Trish “Patsy” Walker aka Hellcat (Rachael Taylor).
