The shooting for season 8 of ‘Game of Thrones’ starts on 17 November 2017 and preparations are on in full swing. Last week we told you how fans spotted a prop that looks like a Dothraki hut at Titanic Studios in Belfast, where many GOT scenes are filmed. From locations to sets to visual effects, it is believed the team is going all out to prepare for the last season of the epic show.

And now, to the delight of fans, it has been reported that HBO is looking for actors to play new characters in season 8. According to ‘Watchers on the Wall’, HBO is looking for a young boy and girl for the next season.

The girl would be required to play a character aged around 8, so actors between 8-10 would ideally be considered for the role. The character is a Northern girl who is fearless and outspoken. The role description specifies her as a “strong-minded young girl with a fighting spirit.” Right now, the only such girl on the show we can think of is Lyanna Mormont.

The boy’s character too is aged between 8-12 and is someone with a sharp personality and agile body language. The character comes from a poor background and is required to “completely own the scenes that he appears in”, Watchers on the Wall reports. Could it be a young Varys? When he was a child, he was kidnapped by a wizard and left to fend for himself on the streets.

Considering that the producers wouldn’t be introducing anyone insignificant at this stage, these two characters wouldn’t be having minor roles, we are guessing. Since flashbacks explaining back stories are expected in the next season, these two could also be the young versions of major characters. The girl, for example, could very well be Lyanna Stark, a spirited young woman of the Stark household who falls in love with Rhaegar Targaryen.

The boy, on the other hand, couldn’t be a recognized heir from either of the major houses, since his character hails from a poor background.

Well, we can only speculate what the roles might be, but if you have young friends in the UK who love to act, share the news with them! Who knows you might just get a free pass to visit the sets of GOT!

The sexual tension between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen had been going on for far too long. Too many hints and too many side-glances later, they finally got it on in a rocking boat. As fans who invested a little too much in their brief flirting, we were ecstatic it was finally happening but were bummed with how it happened. Was it just us, or was the scene too awkward and hasty? And Jon and Dany don’t even know they are related yet! Where’s the passion, guys?!

Picture this: Bran’s voice talks about Jon Snow’s parents, as Lyanna Stark gives birth to Snow under a very bloodied sheet, cut to Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen on the brink of a climax.

“Robert’s rebellion was built on a lie”, Bran to Samwell Tarly – connecting the dots that finally confirms Jon is not just any bastard, but a Dornish bastard, who are apparently called ‘Sand’ and, not ‘Snow’.

This revelation is so big that we are not sure how to feel about it. Although, all the Game of Thrones’ Fans saw this coming but we hadn’t expected the makers to disclose it so soon.

Anyhow, if you haven’t seen the final instalment of the Season 7, then you better save this story, for, it will ultimately put the crucial missing piece back in the puzzle.

Remember Gilly making a huge discovery about Jon Snow’s parents? Yes, now let’s break down what caused Robert’s rebellion, piece by piece:

It began when Gilly reads some information recorded by Maynard to Sam which goes on like, “Maynard says here, that he issued an annulment for a Prince Raggar and remarried him to someone else at the same time in a secret ceremony in Dorne”, in a confused manner, Gilly asks Sam the meaning of ‘annulment’, referring to someone called ‘Prince Raggar’, without realising the importance of it.

This conversation led Sam to travel back in the North to have Jon’s back. While he was there, he had a little moment with Bran, who was aware of Jon being the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, yet, not the fact that High Septon Maynard had annulled Rhaegar’s marriage to Elia Martell, before marrying him off to Lyanna in Dorne, which was again, a secret affair that he oversaw.

Earlier, it was believed that Prince Rhaegar, heir to the Iron Throne, kidnapped Lyanna, Ned’s sister, who was engaged to Robert Baratheon. This theory has been nullified, even though it was a lot more controversial as Rhaegar was thought to be still married to Elia Martell. Amidst all this confusion and lies, the truth has finally come up.

At the time of coming to know about Bran’s power of being a Third Eyed Raven, to which Sam’s reaction was rather shocking and funny, leaving Bran no choice but to go back in time and have a reality check. It’s confirmed that Jon’s real name is Aegon Targaryen. Now, I’m pretty sure you have the same questions revolving around your head that were on my mind while watching the episode: What kick-started the war? What triggered Robert to get rebellious? What happened to Lyanna Stark? Chill out, we have all the answers for you.

Here’s what happened – The great abduction:

via GIPHY

Yes, abduction of precious Lyanna caused everyone around her to throw a fit. Her older brother Brandon who had been on his way to Riverrun to wed Catelyn Tully, rode to King’s Landing instead, demanding that King Aerys II Targaryen (who is often called as the Mad King, father of Rhaegar’s), have Lyanna returned and his son punished. While things didn’t work out in the older brother’s favour, who was later imprisoned and, was charged with treason along with his father Rickard Stark. The Mad Kind had both of them killed in front of the entire Royal court, in his insanity; making Jon Arryn, the lord of the Eyrie, raise his banners in revolt against the crown and, sent Robert Baratheon and Ned back to their lands.

Lyanna’s alleged kidnapping was the cause of the uproar of Robert’s breakdown which ultimately led to his rebellion. But now that we are apprised of what actually happened back in the day, it’s obvious that Rhaegar hadn’t abducted Lyanna but had annulled his first marriage to finally get hitched to his lady love.

In case you haven’t notice this, if Jon sits on the Iron throne in the final season for which, we might have to wait for two years according to the reports, he will rule as King Aegon IV Targaryen. Doesn’t that excite you already?

Now, we’re only left with one doubt: Will Daenerys accept a different heir to the iron throne?
