Ganesh Acharya

Bollywood’s ace choreographer Ganesh Acharya is no newcomer to fame, but this time he is in news for a completely different reason. The choreographer who has made many actors dance to his tunes is breaking the Internet for shedding a whopping 85 kgs in one year and half years. It is unbelievable that at one point he weighed 200 kgs. Although obesity wasn’t a hindrance, Ganesh was asked by a lot of people to lose weight.

Losing weight wasn’t a piece of cake for Ganesh, but he took one and half year to lose it all.

He explains how he had to undergo a proper workout regime and regular gyming which led him to his weight loss. The actor had gained 30-40 kg for his home production ‘Hey Bro’.

He has shared pictures of himself after his transformation and it is hard to believe this is the same Ganesh Acharya.

He underwent drastic weight loss to play a man striving for survival in ‘Trapped’. Now for web series ‘Bose’, actor Rajkummar Rao has been hogging pizzas and biryani to get the pot belly that he now sports to shoot the show.

During the promotion of ‘Trapped’, Rajkummar had said he was on a diet of black coffee and two carrots a day for about 20-22 days in order to look real for his character.

For ‘Bose’ — helmed by Hansal Mehta for ALT Balaji — the actor has been working on his look for two months. He also went half bald to play the part of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. “I have gained 11 kg as of now and I have been eating a lot… ten times of what my diet was,As an actor, I am always conscious of what I eat. I always keep a check, but with ‘Bose’, I had to let go of everything and just hog whatever I liked eating but couldn’t. Starting from cheesecakes, pizzas, sweets, aloo parathas, biryani and what all.I had to look on the heftier side for ‘Bose’, so that’s how I started putting on weight.I’ll have to reduce all this weight once we are done shooting, which will most probably be by this month’s end and also will grow my hair back. I am hopeful that by the time my hair will grow back, I’ll be able to get rid of all this extra weight,” Rajkummar told IANS over social media

He is still gaining weight for the role, and says he would have to lose it also in no time. Rajkummar Rao, who has earlier featured in films like ‘Queen’ and ‘Shahid’, feels it will be easy for him to shed the extra kilos.

“I like being fit and have always been a sports enthusiast, and knowing my body, I should be able to do it in two months’ time at the maximum,” he said.

Giving a glimpse into his physical transformation role after role, he posted on Twitter an image with snapshots of his physique for ‘Behen Hogi Teri’, ‘Trapped’ and ‘Bose’. “Building a character. Nothing gives me more high than the process of exploring someone else’s life on screen,” he tweeted.

Shoojit SircarShoojit Sircar

Looks like filmmaker Shoojit Sircar had been tuning into children’s reality shows and was appalled by what the youngsters had to go through. Yesterday, the Piku (2015) director made a clarion call to ban reality TV shows that have children as participants. He tweeted, “Humble request to authorities to urgently ban reality shows involving children. It’s destroying them emotionally and their purity (sic).”

The shows on air currently range from finding the kid with the perfect voice to the one with the best comic timing. Earlier this year, Shoojit had directed a short film, Release The Pressure, to create awareness among parents about their kids’ performance anxiety.

Nawazuddin SiddiquiNawazuddin Siddiqui

He can morph into any character he chooses to play on screen, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui says he consciously takes up roles that keep him from getting stereotyped. “I have played over 2,000 characters in theatre through seven years. I have a lot of ‘masala’ to show. I have confidence, which allows me to try different roles. The ones who get scared are those who have nothing left to show. I have a lot of characters stored in my bank,” the actor says.

Siddiqui is inspired by roles that showcase the different aspects of human nature. “I like doing grey roles since they have more depth and complexity. I can’t do these larger-than-life hero or villain-like characters, because they don’t interest me. I hate these two extremes, they don’t have any shades. I observe characters from real life and know that people have both good and bad characteristics in them. When you put both of them together, what you get is a complete human being.”

The actor will next be seen in Sridevi-starrer ‘Mom’, followed by ‘Munna Michael’ and ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’.
