28th November, 2012, New Delhi: Life Of Pi, directed by Ang Lee, has collected Rs 19.5 crores in India over the weekend. The film also casts Indian actors Irrfan Khan, Suraj Sharma and Tabu.
The film was released on 23rd November in both 3D and 2D in English, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu throughout India. According to reports, Life Of Pi is Fox Star Studios’ 2nd highest opening after James Cameron`s 3D film `Avatar.’ Earlier this month, James Bond’s new film `Skyfall’ earned Rs 27.5 crore earlier this month.
The film describes the story of a boy and a tiger on a lifeboat after the boy’s family is drowned in a shipwreck.
Some scenes of the film have been shot in places like Munnar and Pondicherry. The movie is based on Yann Martel’s book ‘Life Of Pi.’ The film received good response from people of different ages.
