Unless you’re living in a cave, far far away from the Internet, you would have heard that The Walt Disney Company has cut a $52.4 billion deal to acquire most of 21st Century Fox. Which means, along with Fox’s other famous movies and TV shows, Disney will now own the rights to Fox’s set of Marvel superheroes—The X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool. Mickey Mouse’s gang just got a whole lot bigger y’all!

So is this a good thing for us Marvel fans? Lets find out.

Integrated Storylines And Crossover Movies, FTW!

Two words: Infinity War. If Disney-owned Marvel Studios can make THAT dream come true, then an X-Men movie featuring the

‘Avengers’ or a ‘Guardian of the Galaxy’ movie guest starring the ‘Fantastic Four’ is not farfetched at all!

Better Movies And Storylines True To The Comic Books

I’m sure we all agree that you can most definitely trust Marvel Studios to make a kickass superhero movie. So, if you’ve been longing for a GOOD ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot, your prayers may just be answered!

Disney-Produced Animations

If you’re a 90s kid, there is a high chance that you were introduced to the X-Men via the animated series. It’s been way too long since then and it’s about time the animated series is rebooted. With Disney’s TV presence, this is highly likely to happen faster than you think.

Could This Lead To ‘Standardisation’ Of Your Favourite Heroes?

Have you noticed how all Marvel films kinda look the same? Well if that annoys you, I have news for you, its not going to get any better. In the last decade, Disney has bought up Pixar, Lucas Films, and Marvel Entertainment. With Fox being its latest addition, Disney now owns a sizable chunk of Hollywood’s creative content. This means if you’re hoping for an out-of-the-box superhero hit, like “Logan,” its most likely never going to happen.

Deadpool – Violence = No Fun

Disney has forever been inclined to making family oriented movies and its target audience has always been children and teenagers. Although, the company is slowly shifting its focus to us millennials after acquiring Marvel and the Star Wars franchise, most of its content is still pretty PG. This deal could be a threat to our beloved Deadpool, his potty mouth, and violent undertones. And that’s not all! If Disney wants to make Wolverine a happy, chirpy mutant for a box-office win (the opposite of what he really is), they have all the rights to do so.

As much as this acquisition seems like every Marvel fan’s dream, it could also turn out to be a double-edged sword. Here’s hoping that the Disney-Fox deal does more good than harm.
