Gauahar Khan bags award for Sunil Thadani's short film, Peanut Butter

Gauahar Khan is on cloud nine. She has bagged the Best Actor award for Sunil Thadani’s short film, Peanut Butter, at the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) Awards recently. This is her first gong for acting. She says the “short film has given her the love to last the longest memories of her life.” It was selected from 150 shorts that were submitted. The film, which has done the festival rounds, is a coming-of-age story. Peanut Butter also bagged the Best Editor and Best Film awards.

Gauahar Khan, who recently launched her own fashion line Gauahargeous, is the winner of the controversial reality show Bigg Boss 7. She also participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Gauahar acted in the films Rocket Singh and Begum Jaan. She also appeared in Bollywood’s first musical, Zangoora – The Gypsy Prince.

She has famously done dance numbers in the films Aan: Men at Work, Shankar Dada M.B.B.S., Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Ishaqzaade, Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 and Fuddu.

Amitabh Bachchan’s wry sense of humour is often on display on social media. Big B also chides the younger lot of actors on the platform. Yesterday, he seems to have taken a dig at Varun Dhawan.

Big B wrote on Instastory, “Double glasses and ready for the gym. No, you will not follow me there… it is too embarrassing, follow Varun (sic).” Of late, the October actor has been flooding his social networking handles with workout videos and pictures. The actor has been chronicling his every move in the gym. Is this Big B’s way of telling him to calm down?

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan will next be seen in Vijay Krishna Acharya’s upcoming directorial Thugs Of Hindostan, in which he shares the screen with Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The film is based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel Confessions of a Thug and is set to be released during Diwali on 7 November 2018.

Varun Dhawan, who received plaudits from fans and critics for his performance in Shoojit Sircar’s October, is filming for Kalank. Directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar, Varun shares the screen with Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Kunal Kemmu in the film.

Varun’s other upcoming release is Sui Dhaaga, in which he is collaborating with Anushka Sharma for the first time.

Shilpa Shetty celebrated her son, Viaan Raj Kundra’s sixth birthday on Tuesday, May 22. As a tradition, the actress’ family visits an old-age home to celebrate the day with senior citizens. She followed the same and visited an old-age home with son, husband Raj Kundra and mother Sunanda Shetty.

Shilpa Shetty posted a video of her family distributing sweets to the people in the old-age orphanage. She uploaded the video and captioned it as, “Keeping up with tradition of dinner at the #littlesistersofthepoor ,an old age home . They have very few visitors and the joy on their faces when someone comes and visits them is priceless.Nothing more powerful than to start my sons birthday with Blessings..Thankyou for all your blessings and wishes as well instafam. Loads of #gratitude #happiness #blessings #love #unconditionallove (sic).”

However, the actress was accused of broadcasting her deeds. “Distributing the cheapest fruit available and broadcasting on Instagram. Sunday binge doesn’t seem so simple. Stop this show off (sic),” read a comment on Shilpa Shetty’s Instagram post.

To which, the fitness expert gave a bang on reply. She wrote, “It’s sad you think this way. Yes, we personally served them a full dinner service after this. I only put it up here for ‘awareness’ so more people can get directed to this cause or contribute to this place that needs help.

And like I said, this is tradition for us, our parents have been taking us here for years and I continue that with my child. Broadcasting to show off is never my intent,” added Shilpa.

Later, in the evening, the family threw a birthday bash for friends and family.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who along with co-actors Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, director Shashanka Ghosh and producers Rhea Kapoor, Nikhil Dwivedi and Ekta Kapoor, launched the music album of Veere Di Wedding, said she is not a feminist and believes in equality.

Asked about the idea of feminism, Kareena Kapoor said, “I believe in equality. I wouldn’t say I am a feminist, I would say I am a woman and above all, I am a human being. I am also as proud to be known as Saif Ali Khan’s wife, as I am to be Kareena Kapoor. So that is just the way I am.”

Veere Di Wedding is a female buddy film about four girls living in an urban setting and their struggles in life. Kareena has always been vocal about her personal life, but in this film, she playing a character which is commitment phobic.

Asked about her role selection criteria, she said, “What made me take up this part is that for me, as a commercial mainstream actor who is always used to work with mainstream actors, be it Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan… For me, it was very different to be part of a film with four girls. The story is something I got completely obsessed by and I thought it was really cool. And I think who better than this entire team to put this film together. This was the reason I wanted to do ‘Veere Di Wedding’. As far as my character Kalindi is concerned, she is really cool and there is a reason why she is commitment phobic, which will be seen in the film.”

Kareena is known for working with A-list actors in Bollywood, but this time she is paired with Sumeet Vyas. On this, she quipped, “I think I have chosen A-Lister heroine this time.”

Sharing her funniest memories from the film’s set, the actress said, “I think it would be throwing Sumeet Vyas off the moon in the film. That was quite funny because I have never done that in my career. I never had the opportunity to throw a hero off from a moon. So thank you everyone, for giving me this chance, I am sure it will go down in history.”

The film will release on June 1, 2018.

It is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s mother, Vrinda Rai’s birthday today, May 23, and the beautiful lady has posted an adorable birthday wish for her on Instagram account. She shared a throwback photo of hers with mommy dearest.

Aishwarya looks like a cheerful little girl with her mother in the photo. She described her feelings through the caption and wrote, “I LOVE YOU, YOU ARE…therefore i am…HAPPY HAAAPPPYYY BIRTHDAY MY ETERNALLY PRECIOUS MOMMYYY darliiinng (sic).”

On Tuesday, the 44-year-old actress went on a dinner date with her mother and daughter Aaradhya Bachchan. Aaradhya is very close to her grandmother, and these pictures are just proof, where, Aaradhya won’t let her grandmom go without hugging her.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made dazzling appearances at the Cannes Film Festival and will be seen in Fanne Khan with Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. She will also be seen in the film Jasmine, and reportedly in the remake of Woh Kaun Thi (1964) with Shahid Kapoor and Raat Aur Din (1967).

Talking about it to mid-day, Aishwarya said, “After I was given a narration of Jasmine, I requested the team to rewrite a few things. So we’ll see where that goes. Woh Kaun Thi and Raat Aur Din remakes are fabulous ideas. Once I return from Cannes, I will sit down with the team and understand how they want to remake the films. Only then will I take a call.”

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s darling daughter, Suhana Khan has turned 18! Turning 18 is the special phase in any teenager’s life and we all try to make it a memorable one. On Monday, momma Gauri had posted a breathtakingly beautiful photo of Suhana and captioned it, “Gearing up for a birthday bash.” She also thanked their dear friend and filmmaker Karan Johar.

Now that birthday wishes are pouring from every quarter from the industry circuit, Suhana Khan’s best friend, Ananya Panday has also posted an adorable birthday post for the teenager. She posted a photo of them posing together. Possibly, the photo appears to be an older one from their previous albums.

According to a report in Filmfare, birthday girl would be taking off to an exotic location with family and a few close friends. So, that’s how Suhana Khan will be celebrating her 18th birthday.

Talking about the plan, a source told the publication, “Suhana Khan is super excited for her 18th birthday. She is ready to take off to an exotic location to bring in her birthday with family and a few friends. It’s her 18th so it has to be special.”

Karan too has taken off at the location. Well, Gauri thanked him for this on her Instagram post. And, given that he was also spotted at the airport.

Like daddy dearest, Suhana, too harbours a desire to pursue a career in acting, and with a few videos of the girl surfaced on social media from her theatre school, she should definitely foray into the craft.

Shah Rukh Khan often speaks about Suhana Khan’s acting skills and her desire to become an actor. He had even told hit-list, “Suhana has expressed her desire to become an actor, but she needs to complete her education first. I have often told her that she will have to work five times harder than me, get paid 10 times lesser than I do and will require a lot of patience and perseverance to be successful.”

Time flies fast, and talking about the same Shah Rukh Khan had shared his thoughts on how the age of 16-18 makes kids want to be closer to their parents. “They (Suhana and Aryan Khan) are studying abroad, I miss them a lot but it gives me an opportunity to take some time off otherwise I am so embroiled in work. The age of 16-18 somehow makes the kids want to stick to the parents even more when they get these five-six days break,” said SRK.

She has worked with actors, who are more experienced than her, and is mostly seen hanging around with them.

Alia Bhatt‘s link-up with co-star Ranbir Kapoor has become a tea-time gossip in the industry as well as amongst the audience. After admitting that they both have a crush on each other, Alia’s fascination with baby names has begun.

In an interview with Filmfare, the Udta Punjab actress has admitted that she has started to love baby names, and has even kept two-three names in her mind. Well, the young actress has also professed her wish of getting married. Does that mean marriage is soon on cards?

While speaking to the magazine when she was asked if she has matured enough faster by being around with people, who are older and experienced than her. “Possibly, yes. But my family never treated me like a kid. We share mature relationships with each other. And yes, I do hang out with people older than me. But like I say, age is just a number. It’s your experiences that give you your age. I’ve not had the life of an average 20-year-old. By average, I mean any other 20-year-old. Maybe, another 20-year-old would have had a life way tougher than mine. So, I will not understand their point of you and they may not understand mine. Everyone’s story is different based on the life they’ve lived. Also, I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve turned 25, but of late, I’ve started thinking of baby names. I’m a baby myself but for some reason baby names seem attractive to me,” said Alia Bhatt.

When further intervened to find out her craze behind kids’ names, she said, “Baby names are different. I never thought of them before. But suddenly, I come across something nice and think yeh naam hona chahiye. I liked two three names and have kept them in mind!”

Is she hinting at a new relationship?

On the professional front, she has Dharma Productions’ Kalank with an ensemble cast and Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan and Gully Boy with Ranveer Singh. She is currently basking in the success of her latest release.

Jamai Raja actor Ravi Dubey will be seen in a new show on Star Plus soon. The show titled Sabs Smart Kaun is one of its kind, where common people will come and answer with their wisdom and can win some great deal of prizes. This will be the first time Ravi Dubey will be seen hosting this kind of a game show. So when he was asked if his show will be compared to Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati and Salman Khan’s 10 Ka Dum which will be returning on the tube soon. So is he prepared for the comparison? On this Ravi clarified that comparison is bound to happen. We cannot do anything about it, but we will try to provide the nation with a good game show.

Ravi also added that “there is no doubt that Indian television has had some great hosts and I try to learn from them. And I have also learnt something from them.” Ravi also says that he has learnt how to treat common people on your show, from some great hosts. “The way other hosts give respect to commoners on the show, our efforts are also the same and we hope we don’t fail at it in the one hour we have been given.”

As of now, only commoners will appear on Ravi Dubey’s show however in the future some celebrities might also get associated with the game show.

Mowgli trailer: Don't expect dancing animals in this version of The Jungle Book

The first trailer of Mowgli, which features Rohan Chand in the title role, presents a different and darker version of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book

And the first trailer of Mowgli is out. Featuring Rohan Chand in the title role, Mowgli seems to be a darker version of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. Director Andy Serkis says it is not a fairy tale, and the audience should not expect singing and dancing animals in the film.

Studio Warner Bros. has released its first trailer for Mowgli – Serkis’ decidedly downbeat version of “The Jungle Book”. The film is based on Rudyard Kipling‘s classic 19th century tale of the boy who grew up in the jungles of India.

“We wanted to engage more closely with Kipling’s book. It is not so much of a child’s fairy tale. This has a reality to it. There are real consequences. It is definitely different from Kipling’s book and has a much darker approach,” said Serkis in a behind the scenes video.

“There is no singing and dancing by the animals that is for sure. After creating (characters) Caesar and Gollum, this is what I was most drawn to. I can’t believe how lucky we are to have our key cast,” he added.

The studio appears to be making a major effort to differentiate the movie from Disney’s 2016 hit “The Jungle Book”, which generated $966 million in worldwide box office, reports variety.com.

The CGI (computer generated imagery) footage for “Mowgli” features threatening beasts such as the malevolent tiger Shere Khan, voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, who asserts, “My, my, how you’ve grown”.

The comedy-free trailer launches with Mowgli imprisoned in a wooden cage. He is told by his friend Bagheera, voiced by Christian Bale, “When you were a cub, I looked you in the eye and saw no fear”.

There’s none of the light comic tone of “The Jungle Book”, which featured Bill Murray as Baloo the Bear belting out “The Bare Necessities”.

Serkis is portraying Baloo in this version, adding to his extensive resume for CGI characters after playing Gollum in “The Lord of the Rings” films and Caesar in the recent “Planet of the Apes” trilogy.

Serkis also praised Rohan, who was born in New York to Indian parents. “We are incredibly lucky to have Rohan at the centre of the story. He is a young boy playing a very complex adult role and he is utterly brilliant,” he added.

Serkis says the main theme in the movie is “Who I am in the world of animals and in the world of man”. “It all hinges on the quest to find his own identity. The journey is immense and it will be surprising for the audience. People have many preconceptions about the story and the characters. This will shatter them.”

A Warner Bros. Pictures presentation of an Imaginarium Production, “Mowgli” will release worldwide on October 19, 2018. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Maanayata Dutt, whose real name is Dilnashin Shaikh, first came to prominence after doing an item number in Prakash Jha’s 2003 directorial Gangaa Jal, which starred Ajay Devgn. Maanayata Dutt and Sanjay Dutt got married on 7th February 2008. Amrita Arora Ladak is the wife of businessman Shakeel Ladak and has two sons with him, Rayaan and Azaan her last major Bollywood outing was the 2009 film Kambakkht Ishq, which starred Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan.
