The story of a man and his daughters who fought against the deepest of stereotypes and went on to make a dent in the wrestling world, ‘Dangal’ broke all records last year. Aamir Khan left no stone unturned to perfect his role of Mahaveer Phogat, the mastermind behind the success of his daughters, Geeta and Babita Phogat. It was a roller coaster of emotion, grit and perseverance that won us over – the movie, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, was one of the most brilliant pieces of cinema seen in recent years. The film became the highest grosser in Bollywood and surpassed ‘Bajrangi Bhaijan’, collecting Rs 345.3 crore.
The whole industry stood in awe and heaped praises for the film. But it was an exceptional moment when veteran actor Rekha wrote a letter to Aamir Khan telling him how much she loved the film. Aamir had hosted a party on 5th February to celebrate the success of ‘Dangal’, and Rekha graced the event with her presence, resplendent in her kanjeevaram silks. Aamir was so moved by her letter that he was left moist-eyed. According to sources, he said that the letter, just like the movie, now held a special place in his heart. No matter how successful one gets, the appreciation of the masters of your art is always the biggest reward you can get.
In a film that saw gruelling hours of hard work by the actors, it is but natural that the sense of pride and attachment is even greater. While Aamir gained a massive 24 kilos for the film, he also got ripped and became a muscle monster to play the role of a young Mahaveer Phogat.

The 4 girls who played the roles of the Phogat sisters too sweated it out and underwent real wrestling training.
Hard work pays and when it does, even the toughest nuts get overwhelmed; and it comes as no surprise that Aamir, who is known to get emotional and teary-eyed at occasions, shed a few tears of happiness.
